One of our favorites!
by FreakyFoodie
I love this place. The food is the definition of Southern comfort food. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. We love going for a drive after eating here, either on the Natchez or through Percy Warner Park. I honestly haven't had anything that I haven't loved. I especially like their preserves. I had the apricot the last time. I hate apricots, but I liked this. It wasn't too sweet, not too chewy. Prices are right on. Our servers are always nice and helpful. We do avoid the crowds by going for early dinner, so we never wait. My kids liked seeing the biscuit window. You gotta try it at least once, and I bet you'll go again.
- Pros: Great homestyle food, friendly staff
- Cons: I couldn't eat anymore
Authentic, Down Home Southern Cooking
by Cokey77
This cafe is a throwback to the 50's. The Loveless cafe was recently renovated and visiting, you feel like you get sucked into a southern time warp. The warm Southern hospitality is overwhelming. There are caricatures of famous Southern musicians up on the wall and framed pictures of who's who in America in the lobby. The biscuits are served piping hot, made from scratch along with the homemade blackberry, peach and strawberry jam. The BBQ pulled pork is TO DIE FOR. Highly recommended. After breakfast, check out the surrounding Loveless Motel's 14 rooms which have been converted to a mini-shopping area. Art galleries, gift shops and the Hams and Jams store are a must see! Great place to visit. Have to experience in person at least once!!!
- Pros: Best biscuits and marion blackberry jam, bbq pulled pork
- Cons: Some items are just ok where you can find at other places
Food below average
by Joe6pak37
I really can't understand why anyone thinks that this cafe has good food. It is definitely not worth waiting on. We ordered the meatloaf and it was not completely cooked. The green beans and mashed potatoes were just average, and you can get much better biscuits at Mickey-D's. I will say that the blackberry and strawberry preserves were very good - everything else - not so good.
- Pros: Nice pictures on the wall
- Cons: Food
Excellent Biscuits and Gravy

- Pros: good food, great staff
- Cons: long lines, but worth it
It Does Not Get Much Better Than This!
by theferf
This is a Nashville landmark, not to be missed if you stumbling through the area. If you can go during the week, the lines are short... but if you are going to go on a weekend or friday night, plan on waiting.... sometimes you have to wait 1-2 hours to get in, but it is that good!
If you order breakfast family style for like $12.95 a person they will bring buckets of food until you turn in your man card from exhaustion. Prepare to go into a food coma.
- Pros: Family Style Breakfast
- Cons: Long Lines
Very Over Rated
by NNL
After seeing all the publicity to this place, we were very disappointed in what it actually offered. Seems like the crowds that come are mainly tourists so I guess everyone of us were willing to wait 1.5hrs since we had already driven there. The infamous biscuits, we thought, were nothing special. I did like the blackberry & strawberry preserves that came with it. The other items we had were your basic southern breakfast items that could be ordered at any restaurant that featured a decent breakfast menu. Well, at least we gave it a try; basically very disappointed after reading all of these hyped up reviews.
- Pros: Good preserves/jelly and some side dishes
- Cons: Standard Breakfast Fare with Very Long Wait
Gone Country

Even with a long wait, I still love how authintic it is! It has stayed true throughout the years. Beautiful area and not too far out of the way. They started me out with biscuits and their peach, blackberry, and strawberry preserves. Heaven!! I had the smoke pork chops with peach preserves. The pork was a little on the dry side, but I loved the flavor of the smoke and sweetness from the preserves! I, also, loved the gift shop and it's variety. I purchased smoked bacon (killer), country ham, and Piggy Popcorn. The popcorn is cooked with bacon and maple. Different yet good. And I tried Tennesse tea cakes which I have seen on Food network. I can't really describe them, it's not really a cake but similar and sugary with a bit of molasses. I fried the bacon at home and It reminded me of the same smokey smell you get at the cafe. I will be back one day!!! TRY THE PEACH PRESERVES!!
- Pros: smoked meats, delicious preserves and of course biscuits
- Cons: waited an hour and half
Really garlic fried chicken
by eatingonroad
Was so excited to go to the Loveless Cafe, because we had seen it on a lot of food shows , we when on a Saturday afternoon, was told there would be a hour a 15/20 minutes wait, and we were OK with that, since we were about 120 miles from home and it would be along time before we would be this close to the Loveless Cafe again, but was seated in just one hour, we were happy. My wife ordered breakfast, it was just OK, nothing great. I ordered fried chicken, it had so much garlic on it I could not eat it, almost seemed like it might have been bad chicken and someone put so much garlic on it to cover that up. Biscuits was below average, better biscuits at any fast food place, and I think I know what the secret ingredient is, sugar, lots of sugar, I only ate 3 and my sugar went way up even though I had my diabetes medicine, so beware diabetics.
- Pros: Was seat faster then was told
- Cons: Chicken
Worth the trip==WonderfuL!

I went to the Loveless with my boyfriend and his mother & sister. His sister had told us she had read great reviews and the Loveless was a different place to try. We went on a Saturday afternoon and waited about 15-20 minutes tops. The biscuits were hot, fresh, & delicious and the preserves were so good. My boyfriend had the meatloaf, I had the smoked turkey, and his mom & sister had the vegetable plates. All our food was good--there was so much and you definitely get full. My bf & mine's ticket was about $35 which was reasonable for the amount of food we received. Waitress was very attentive and we loved the atmosphere. We're from Northwest AL and I'm going back to Nashville in a few weeks and taking my family. The shops were nice--I'll make sure to get some preserves to bring back to Bama with me this time! Excellent food, excellent service, and I can't wait to get back to the Loveless!
- Pros: Food, Service, Price, & Ambience
- Cons: Nothing--it was perfect!
Down-Home Deliciousness!
by maryjatkinson
If you're in the mood for some down-home cooking and a friendly atmosphere, you MUST try the Loveless Cafe. I'm telling you, the fried catfish, okra, cheddar cheese grits, and BISCUITS are sooooooooo good! It reminded me of my great grandmother's cooking, and was every bit as good! It is also clean and country-feeling without being kitschy. The little shops around the cafe and the Natchez Trace also add a reason to make a day of it. Try renting a bike from the little bike rental place behind the cafe, riding down Natchez Trace, and then stopping back in at Loveless when you return. As you wait for your table, stop into one of the cute little shops (such as Curious Heart Emporium) and buy some stone ground grits or Tennessee T-Cakes from the little grocer adjacent to the cafe. And after you eat, don't forget to ask for some more biscuits and homemade jam to go! Mmmmm...
- Pros: The FOOD! And the ambience/surrounding area.
- Cons: N/A
