The biscuits and preserves were delicious, but the rest of the dinner was average. My husband and I both had the the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and mac and cheese. It was good food, but I wouldn't drive all the way out there again when i can get the type of food closer to home and cheaper. The service was great though, and I really enjoyed the fresh biscuits.

This place is very typical. The food, save the biscuits and preserves, was average. The biscuits and preserves were tasty, but not anything you would stop at unless you were passing by. I would not waste my time or money there, or the gas used to get there, because it is out there. A little tip-off about the food is that Bobby Flay won in the throwdown, the only time I have ever seen him win.

I want to start by saying I only gave this place 5 stars because their biscuits and perserves are to die for. The rest of the meal was just ok. I had country ham that was really, really salty ,and had a barny after taste. That may be true contry ham but coming from ohio, I would recommend it. Other had omletes and said they were ok, everyone agreed on the biscuits though. They actually taste like a biscuit not butter like most biscuits today. That being said you may not like them if you eat a lot of processed food. Our server seemed angry too. She just wasn't as friendly as I would expect being in the south.

Pros: Biscuits

Cons: The rest of the menu doesn't hold the same value

I heard when I moved here I had to try the Loveless Cafe. When I arrived there was a wait. I asked the hostess how long and she quoted me 20 minutes. I ended up waiting 45 minutes. Finally after being seated the waiter greeted us. She was very friendly! She truly made the experience worth going. The biscuits and preserves were wonderful but the food was very average. I'm not sure what the big deal about this place is. In my opinion it is very overrated and overpriced for the quality of food you get.

Pros: Nice wait staff

Cons: Rude hostess and average food

Used to eat here regularly and was friends with owner when I lived in Nashville. It had been over 25 years since I was last there. It has changed a lot and all for the better as far as ambiance. There is finally room to accomodate the crowds. Still the best breakfast anywhere. Will make you laugh at Cracker Barrell. My wife is not a biscuit fan but loved these and bought some peach preserves to take home. Country ham always excellent and eggs always cooked perfectly. Deserves it's reputation and success. Waitress covered many tables with outstanding service and attentiveness. What a great Nashville tradition!

We were just at the Loveless Cafe recently on a Thursday afternoon; approximately 2 p.m. We sat right down, our food came quickly. The biscuits and jam really are good. We particularly liked the strawberry and blackberry jam. We took some of both home with us. We both had the fried chicken - not the "best" chicken I have had; but still pretty good. My creamed corn casserole was delicious and my friend had the hashbrown casserole which was also delicious. Our waitress could not have been nicer. I've read the reviews talking about the waits - I guess I would recommend going at an off-peak time when you can have the place to yourself. There were a few other travelers there; and possibly some locals. The side dishes are delicious! Glad we stopped!

Pros: nice hearty, country lunch - cute decor

I was there this past Sunday and had to wait 1.5 hours. Wehn we were seated, we went ahead and ordered our food along with our drinks. Both of us got omelets and hashbrown casserole. In less than five minutes, our food arrived. The egg part of the omelets were pre-cooked and the ingredients (ham, onion, pepper, cheese, etc.) were put in the middle and the egg part was folded over. In other words, the ingredients of the omelet are not cooked into the egg. And when the waitress brought us more biscuits, the plate she brought them on also had jelly - which she took back with her b/c she saw we still had a little left. If you have seen the size of the jelly portions there - you will realize how small the portions are. Trust me - if they think so highly of their jelly that they are that skimpy with it - I do not want it. FYI: There is a place called the Beacon Light a few miles down the road in Fairview that the local people of the HW 100 area say is like the Loveless Cafe used to be back when it was just a local place that had good food at a resonable cost without all of the shops and hype.

Pros: Wait Staff

Cons: Way food is prepared, wait time, overly hyped, expensive

The drive off I-40 was absolutely beautiful. Our waitress Dianne was very friendly and extremely efficient. No glass left empty. We ordered the family meal and to start the biscuits and perserves were as good as having dessert first. The fried chicken was as good as my grandma's from scratch recipe and the BBQ pork was melt in your mouth tender. The macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and fried okra were all fabulous as well. We had parents-in law and kids ages 9 & 10 in our group and we woiuld all highly recommend Loveless Cafe. As we all enjoyed the surrounding shops--we took home plenty of perserves for the upcoming holidays! What an awsome place!

Pros: Two thumbs up-food, service and RV parking.

Cons: hmmm--none!

I have been to the Loveless twice this month and can not say enough about how pleasant and enjoyable both times were. I had the same server both times and she remembered me and asked about a topic we discussed from my earlier visit. Not something I have experienced often in todays rush them out the door restaurant settings. Loveless is a step back in time in the best way possible. The food is slow cooked and wonderful, the staff remembers you if you come back and everything on the menu tastes good. The best way to experience the Loveless is after driving a bit of the Natchez Trace. That way you will be in the mindset of slowing down and enjoying a less rushed pace.

Pros: good traditional southern fare

Cons: weekend = long wait

You have to go, even if it is only once. For those who wrote negative reviews, most of the stuff was their fault for not researching the place first. It is a TOURIST stop. There WILL be a wait on the weekends. If that bothers you, then don't go. It is only common sens. My family went at 6 p.m. on a Monday, and had no wait. We picked that time because knew it was a good time to go. And for the lady who complained about the "to-go" box, their website clearly states no "to-go" on "family style" meals. And it only make sense to seperate people ordering from the menu, or they could eat their stuff and "for free" off the family style. The biscuits are good. Not the best I have ever had, but good. The sweet tea was also good. We had chicken and fish and mashed potatoes, greens and green beans. All were very good. We want to go back and try breakfast. So definitely go ... just use your head and pick a good time. If not you'll have to wait.
