Nothing compares to Morton's in my experience. The steaks are great (be careful not to be too enthusiastic in ordering "char" on the outside or they will come nuked). The shrimp Alexander is a GREAT first course. The crab cocktail, despite its simplicity is utterly perfect. Tomato with a fantastic blue cheese dressing is sublime. And of course...the molten chocolate cake is off the charts (and the apple pie ain't bad either). I can't imagine how Ruth's Chis is mentioned in the same breath as Mortons. To quote Larry Holmes, it couldn't carry Morton's jockstrap.

Pros: The best steakhouse in existence. Period

Cons: It's not cheap...but worth every penny

Morton's is definitely worth it. It has the best steaks in Nashville, very generous portions and an incredible atmosphere. They opened their new Bar 12-21 in June. Before I wasn't a big fan of Morton's Bar, but with the new Bar 12-21, my opinion has completely changed. Bar 12-21 is a great place to have some drinks and you'll probably see some of Nashville's best there. Insider's tip: Be sure to check out the bar at 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. and from 9:30 to 11:00 p.m. because most menu items in Morton’s Bar 12-21 are just $4.00. This includes Mini Cheeseburgers, Petite Filet Mignon Sandwiches, Chicken Goujonettes, Crab, Spinach & Artichoke Dip and Blue Cheese French Fries. I highly recommend Morton's for the best steaks, drinks (try a trademark Mortini) and as a great place to be seen.

Took my fiance for her birthday in April. Received outstanding service. Ask to be seated in Marias section, she's on the top of her game. Romantic atmosphere.

Pros: best steak in Nashville

Cons: a little expensive

We went here a couple of weeks ago for our first wedding anniversary. Everything was fantastic. The service and the food were all top quality (each ordered a salad, filet, and had dessert). The restaurant was actually fairly small (maybe half the size of a typical chain restaurant), which made for a quieter, less hectic atmosphere. I also would not worry about a dress code, the reservations desk said business casual, but while we were I would say 65% were in jeans and a button down shirt (more like Friday business casual). The only thing that was strange is that they cut me off after 4 beers. My wife was the designated driver and was not drinking at all, and 4 beers is not a lot. I am not upset, but it is rather strange.

Pros: Great Steak

Cons: Not a place to do some drinking

First off, I have eaten at Morton's on several occasions before and had great meals. This the third time Feb 23rd was not one of them. Let me also say that the entire meal was not totally mediocre. Let me start with the negative. Obviously my main reason to ever going to Morton's is for their filet. I always order mine prepared medium. The steak arrived very dark on the outside and cold and bloody on the inside. I then sent the steak back. It arrived twice as black on the outside with no change of color nor temp on the inside. I have eaten steaks at numerous restaurants from Bones (Atlanta), Chop House (Chicago) and Morton's here in Nashville, I know what a medium steak should look like. I asked the waiter if this was there typical medium and she replied yes and went about her business. She could obviously tell I was not pleased with it. For a $200 meal for two, I would expect better service. Now on to the remainder of the meal. I also had the Crab Legs. These were excellent and possibly the best I have ever had. The Morton's salad is always excellent as well. The wine was nice, and as usual the atmosphere was great. Being that I frequent these types of steakhouses for the filet and the fact it was extremely disappointing, I am giving this visit an average rating. This was one of my favorite restaurants in Nashville, but I will probably not be going back for a while now. As for steaks in the Nashville area, I have still yet to have a bad or disappointing experience at Flemings and still reign it king of the filet in Nashville.

Pros: Excellent crab legs, Excellent atmosphere....

Cons: Very bad Filet experience with no help from waiting staff...

I'll admit at the outset that I've always been mystified at the price of good steakhouses. Sure, the beef is high quality, but I can buy high quality beef and prepare it well myself. The other offerings on the menu are normally very boring, and the experience often doesn't seem worth the price. Eating at Morton's last night with my wife has only reinforced this view. I had a $100 gift card and was deliberating beforehand whether to get a bottle of wine (and more or less use up the card) or have just a couple of glasses (and reserve some of the card for a future visit). When we first saw the prices, I realized how foolish the question had been. The wine list is an aboslute joke. Morton's sells bottles of wine that cost $15 in a store (such as Estancia pinot noir) for some $50--and that is the cheapest bottle you will find. I have never seen markup quite this bad. I didn't get any wine, and my wife and I had the least expensive steaks on the menu, single cut filets. These were good, but I can't say they were worth $31 a piece a la carte. Even people with enough disposable income to eat at Morton's should retain some sense of value for your dollar. To that end, why not save the money for a dinner at Morton's and have two fantastic dinners at Cafe Margot?

Pros: You can't afford to get fat or drunk

Cons: Shamelessly overpriced--$8 for baked potato

We have visited Mortons on several occasions and have always had good evenings, that said we have not been for a year or so. We went back at the weekend with high expectation and what a waste of $250.00 for two. The Maitre'D had his back to the incoming guests while checking them in on a snazzy computerized screen, and we waited to be seated even with a reservation. The restaurant was oversold or understaffed, one of the 2, as we did not have good service. It was incredibly loud, no atmosphere whatsoever, and when we did get our entrees we had to send one back as it was cooked wrong. We travel a lot and experience a lot, and if this is the best we can expect in Nashville we are deeply saddened. Also, what ever happened to the dress code, and when going out and spending hundreds meant dressing up and looking the part, people in sandals and beach shorts in a fine restaurant? What are they thinking? I can honestly say I would rather have spent $40.00 in Shoneys, Mortons needs to raise its game, or lower its prices and start selling tacos'

I went to Morton's several weeks ago with some friends and family for my husband's birthday. I have to say that this place does not fail to impress. The food and wine were fabulous and that atmosphere very cozy and elegant. The service was also top notch. Everyone at out table just raved about everything! I would recommend this for anyone and will be back. I do have to agree with the previous poster that the dress code could be enforced a little better. I was surprised to see what some of the people were allowed to wear in.

Excellent food. Excellent service. I only have one recommendation-ENFORCE A DECENT DRESS CODE!!! When I spend over $300 on dinner for two, I do not want to have to see a couple that looks like they just came from a guest appearance on Jerry Springer make out the entire time they are in the restaurant. Most people were appropriately dressed, but Morton's should help keep the wildlife in the zoo. Other than that, it was an excellent restaurant.

Cons: bad dress code, smokey
