Unfortunate relocation and future....

by LolaGM

Tiba's previous location at the Mall at Green Hills was albeit, bipolar, with the distractingly cluttered retail front and the polished, marble spa in the back. But it did have a unique charm and style. After all of the hoopla built up with the mall-closing and then the "secret" whereabouts of the new location, I was truly annoyed and insulted as a customer at the arrogance of a business to expect customers to wait and follow blindly without the faintest hint of gratitude or respect for their clients. This attitude of self-importance has certainly hurt the business, as anyone who has visited the new location can attest. The place was completely empty on each of my visits. The sales and service providers, for the most part, are kind and genuine. I've never had a poor service at either location. However, that same attitude is still there... call it "delusions of grandeur", if you will. The location has changed but the personality is still the same. I expect high-class elegance to match the high-end resort prices. The build-up from the many letters, phone calls, post cards, and commercials does not mirror the end result. Sadly.... I would recommend this spa ONLY if you are willing and able to overlook the entire aura of the spa and focus only on the skill of the professionals. It is not relaxing, very noisy, and bizarre... I had to walk around an open dishwasher to get from the front desk to the spa... I kid you not. Can you say "tacky"? How about "liability"?

Another brief note is I've never been comfortable when in the vicinity of Tiba's owner. She just looms around the front desk and in the store. Something about her doesn't give me a good vibe. And for anyone that's been there, you cannot disagree with me that most employees seem to be uneasy around her, as well. That's unfortunate because there is true potential with Tiba, there always has been! But it seems even a grand transformation/resurrection can't safe her... from herself.

  • Pros: Great staff, mostly.
  • Cons: Bad vibe, cold atmosphere.

change is a good thing!

by phyremaam

I have always had good experiences @ Tiba, disappointed when I thought they were leaving. Tried other area spas; blah! Opened my mailbox on e day and suprised to find an invitation to their NEW LOCATION! Simply fabulous!! Without the 'cracker barrell' to walk through upon entry, once again I was very pleased to meet familiar faces delivering the same serene atmosphere. I didn't get a tour of the new place, but I will soon be back to see more from my favorite healing hands & wonderful spirits!

  • Pros: very professional and personable
  • Cons: Prime time traffic in the area of Hillsboro Road *arrrrrggghhhh!*

Best to AVOID this spa

by shesfunny

I went in to this spa to get an hour long facial. Not only was the therapist late, she left in the middle of the massage to let me 'rest' for over 30 minutes! Basically my hour-long facial was about 25 minutes. When I complained to the manager she told me that that was the way they conducted their facials and if I didn't like it, I could go somewhere else. So, if you would like a 30 minute facial, you would have to pay for the hour long one at Tiba.

  • Cons: rude staff, you don't get what you expect

good service, poor atmosphere

by sparkle58

I visited Tiba for the first time the other day and got a brow wax and massage by Summer. The services were fantastic. My brows look great and the massage was wonderful. The down side is that this facility is extremely crowded. The massage room was tiny- and kind of like a room at the dentist or dr.'s office- but smaller. The lobby is packed full of gaudy retail and it is not at all what I would call a relaxing environment. I will go back, because I like Summer, but I'm definately dissatisfied with the vibe of this spa.

  • Pros: knowledgable, professional staff
  • Cons: crowded, poor atmosphere

It's probably in your best interest to read this

by christy100

This is a Palestinian owned spa that is very cluttered to say the least. The only thing included with the treatments is water with cucumber - no thanks! I went for a bikini wax and it bruised the area around my muffin - I was so embarrassed for my boyfriend to see it. The massage room was ultra small and they used runny lotion. The massage therapists only get a 40% commission, the estheticians get a small hourly wage so they really count on a nice tip. The makeup was old and had a coat of dust on the top of it. Freshness is the key for good makeup. I highly recommend trying somewhere else.

BEST service, BEST pedicure is town

by nashgrl

I don't know what these bad review people are talking about -- the TIBA folks are incredible. I've been going there for years (when I can afford to splurge) and wouldn't think of going anywhere else -- and -- give gift certificates there as gifts of luxury to friends. It's fabulous. I've yet to get a pedicure that compares anywhere and believe me, I've tried to find one as good. They work and work and work on your feet -- it's like they are obsessed w/getting them baby soft ( and they succeed, too, by golly ) - it's amazing and worth every penny ( and they don't cost much more than anywhere else). And they bring you a glass of wine or cup of coffee!!! My Lord! Who could complain about that? Here's my most recent experience: I went in to buy a gift certificate for friends and myself...and...wanted to book the appt. for a Sunday, it's a special occassion..and...the owner overheard my request and the "booker" saying, no, no one does pedicures/manis on Sundays, and she came over and heard me talking about my special occasion and said, oh, that's okay, it's two months away, we'll get someone to come in and do them for you and your friends. How GREAT is that? And what about that level of customer service, huh? And let me tell you...I'm not a frequent customer. I can't afford to be A) and B) I live too far away to be. THAT'S what TIBA is like. I realize these girls got bad waxes and I"m sorry for them....really...but...they should give TIBA another try. It's awesome.

worst waxing experience ever

by bethy015

The woman who did my brazilian wax was very sweet and very nice. I have nothing but good things to say about her professionalism and respect her very much. However, she is terrible at waxing. Seriously DO NOT GO to this salon. It was recommended to me and I should have read the other reviews on this site and ran the other way. She left big chunks of wax all over me, didn't do a complete job, bruised me, ripped several times before ripping the wax all the way off of my skin. She missed BIG areas. A complete WASTE OF MONEY. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!!!!!!

  • Pros: nice waxing personnel
  • Cons: too expensive, botch job, bad waxing skills

Swanky Green Hills spa offers more than 200 services, from pedicures to underwater massages.

by Contributor

In Short
The spa, like its services, is reminiscent of the Middle East. White-tiled floors gleam, a waterfall trickles at the entrance and treatment rooms have names like Aegean and Caspian. A brightly lit corridor leads to rooms for baths, Scotch showers, facials and massages, with a small space for pedicures. Serious skin mavens will enjoy hair and makeup services by the Jacques Dessange team. There are also massages and spa packages such as the five-hour Mother/Daughter Escape.

wax

by lesliehfranklin

I was not impressed with the bikini wax. I went because I had a gift certificate and I left with bruises. I have had PLENTY of great waxes elsewhere at cheaper prices. Then mani/pedi, on the other hand, were great.

  • Pros: nice staff, manicure, pedicure
  • Cons: WAX!!, cluttered shop
