VERY GOOD RESTAURANT
by nashvillian13
La Paz is actually a fabulous restaurant to eat dinner, lunch or meet friends at. I never known one single person that didn't love it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a good atmosphere and food.
Don't Eat Here if Looking for Real Mexican Food
by shart5
I was surprised to see this rated #2 for Best Mexican food. To be nice, the atmosphere is upbeat and trendy. They do have good margaritas. However, the food is bland and the quality so-so. Their tortillas must come out of a bag, and their chicken tastes processed and loaded with preservatives. If you are looking for real mexican, stay away. (Try Nolensville road!) If you have a desire for 'american mexican'- this is your place.
It's all about choosing the right thing...
by pjs2780
La Paz is one of my friend's favorite restaurants, so we went several times for birthdays, post-movie, "catch-up" dinner, etc...I was never a big fan and kept trying different things trying to see what the big deal was. The only things I remember liking were the guacamole and the California quesadilla. All of the safood items I had were not very fresh, and everything else was underspiced (especially the bland salsa!) or tried too hard. La Paz might be one of the few Nashville restaurants that I don't miss since moving away...
Best tamales anywhere
by stephvaughn77
I've eaten alot of Mexican food, but La Paz has the BEST tamales I've ever had. Their speciality margarita and green salsa is to die for as well. Great outdoor setting.
Great bartenders-real people, not stuffy
by britain
I enjoy the bar a lot at La Paz. Bartenders are friendly and agreeable. This is a nice part of town and most clientelle at happy hour are neighborhood folk who all know each other. It can be pretty crowded at times, but they invite you into their fun. Get to know politicians, lawyers, retired millionaires - people just enjoying themselves and each other. Prices reasonable too.
- Pros: Crowd, bar, ambience
- Cons: none
Have a meal in the bar!
by tateanator
The bar at la Paz is a great place to have a meal too. Sports on tv if you like, food comes fast and drinks are good. It's my favorite place to go for a quiet meal or to talk with people a little. I get the chicken enchilada a la carte and it's plenty.
Perfect for a beautiful day
by lovesnashville
On a beautiful day, La Paz has outside seating that is a great place to drink margaritas and eat tex-mex food. The food is good...do not pass up the cheese dip and guacamole.
Fish tacos to die for!
by pickyrif
I'm hooked on La Paz' fish tacos - the ones made with flounder in particular. The fish is right off the grill with a fabulous mango salsa to accompany. These are so good, I never order anything else. However, other items look pretty tasty. The only item for improvement would be the temperature of the rice & beans. They are never hot. All in all, a most satisfactory meal.
- Pros: food is tasty, patio is quite pleasant and quiet, attentive wait staff
Cleghorn Avenue branch of a Southwestern chain offers Tex-Mex with a creative twist.
by Contributor
In Short
Muted shades of earth tones color the Southwest decor in the spacious dining room, which separates the large crowd into various eating areas. Warm days and nights create heavy traffic on the large patio out front, a perfect spot to enjoy a frozen margarita. Spicy salsa, grilled fajitas and creamy queso abound, but the kitchen throws a few surprises into the mix: salmon quesadillas, crab and artichoke enchiladas and shredded pork tacos are also available.
One of our favorites
by smj2006
We love La Paz for it's great food, great margaritas and kid-friendly atmosphere. We also enjoy the patio in the warmer weather (if there aren't any smokers). Nice service and casual atmosphere.
- Pros: Margaritas, Good food, Good service
- Cons: Crowded parking lot
