great lunch value
by CSMobileUser
August Moon has one of the best values at lunch in Green Hills. The quality is quite average and the insipid pseudo-Chinese music piped in might make you gulp down your food, but you will feel quite satisfied for several hours. The steamed dumplings are fabulous. As others have said, this is also a great take-out place. Lots of food for little money.
Great Atmosphere, for a child of the 80's
by KurganX
The music they play in the background reminds me of old nintendo games (or perhaps old nintendo games use traditional chinese music?). Anyhow, the restaurant is rarely crowded, and the booths are private, and the artwork is pretty.
The food is fine, but the atmosphere is where this place really shines.
Not Impressed
by ChineseFoodRocks
Maybe I have too high of standards for Chinese food. But as a Chinese grew up eating traditional Chinese foods and living in the Bay Area (San Jose/San Francisco) in California where there are thousands of Chinese restaurants, many specialized in one type of Chinese cooking styles, I have to say I haven?t found a Chinese restaurant in Nashville that I ?want? to go back to.
The food at August Moon is basically put ting all ingredients in the wok, stir fry it, and add pre-made sauce which is way too sweet ? even though I ordered a spicy dish ? so some of the vegetable is overcooked. The dinnerware is very cheap, the service is slow, and I have to wait for hot tea after I am half done with my plate.
I am new to Nashville. If any Chinese reads this review, PLEASE let me know where I can find a Chinese restaurant serving ?traditional? Chinese foods.
Nashville's Best Chinese

There are not enough wonderful things that I can write about August Moon. Not only is it the best food, but it is the best deal. This is a great spot to order carry out from. It is fast and always spot on. I wish that they did delivery. If you ever go in to eat, you will truly be amazed! This place is so clean, and the staff is always so friendly. I highly recommend taking a look at their drink menu, if you are dining in or waiting on a carry out order. Their drinks are affordable and the best in town. I highly recommend the Zombie drink, it is the most delicious cocktail. Also, if you ever need a power lunch, this is the spot to do it.
- Pros: Food, Service, Drinks, Everything!!!!
Sunday Buffet!
by tenman76
Great Chinese buffet on sunday only. Not your typical buffet but a much smaller and fresher selection. I can take my family (wife and 3 kids) and eat for under 30 with a tip. I love the lunch during the week also. Very good quality for the money. Yes i have had a lot better chinese food but not for this kind of money. VALUE!!! Interior looks like about every other dated chinese resteraunt but who cares you not expecting pf changs anyway. Check it out

Just got take-out. Seems that's te bread and butter of the place. Good value and GREAT FOOD! Everything was very well done. Great Americanized Chinese.
- Pros: Value, Quality, Speed
- Cons: Decor is very tired.
This strip-mall palace offers a long list of Chinese favorites in a comfortable setting.

In Short
White tablecloths and linen napkins compensate for the strip-mall location and standard-issue decor. The crowd? One look at the SUV-crammed parking lot says it all: families and Green Hills suburbanites. The selection is huge, and it sticks to familiar favorites in the Szechuan, Hunan and Mandarin styles. There are also many trusty standbys like governor's chicken, moo shu pork and sweet-and-sour shrimp. Prices are reasonable, with seafood costing a bit more.
Great for Those Who Cannot Afford PF Chang's!

August Moon is the perfect alternative for people not wanting a buffet and not wanting to spend too much money. As with most places, the lunch menu is a little cheaper than dinner. The food is very good, and the crab wontons are some of the best around! The staff could use some lessons on ambience, but otherwise the service is fairly good. I like the atmosphere...the restaurant looks nice and not cheap.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Great food, Good atmosphere
Great Food, Great lunch bargain
by MrFoody
Definitely not for the "...OOHH dey gots Crab Legs on the buffet!!" crowd, this eatery has a great lunch menu. - and it's enexpensive as well.
Although dinner prices can get a little high.
I've been there tons of times for lunch and dinner and have never had service problems. This is not a "rush in, rush out" kind of place, although they will get your food out in a timely manner. It's just good food at a decent price. All you goobers stick to the "Buffet!!" with little kids putting their fingers in the LoMein- i'll go to August Moon.
- Pros: luch prices
