Best Chinese Food
by wje
I lived in New York City for 13 years and have been living in San Francisco for nearly 18 years, and I've had all kinds of good and bad Chinese restaurant food over the years... was really floored by how good this place was. Best hot & sour soup I've had since a miserably cold and rainy day about 20 years ago in New York Chinatown. Three entrees ordered here have all been excellent... crisp, fresh broccoli, tender chicken, flavorful shrimp. All perfectly prepared. Will be a regular patron here for as long as I'm in Nashville.
- Pros: Best Chinese restaurant food ever; good, efficient service, decent wine list, excellent value
Gets it Right-No matter the size of the group!!!!

So let me paint you this picture. I was trying to figure out what to eat on a Saturday afternoon when I was at work and I needed to place 14 specific picky orders. We were all very nervous about how the food would be and even more about whether this place could get this size order correct. Well, let me just tell you that the food was incredible, the service was promt, and the orders were all perfectly filled. It was an amazing Chinese experience and our whole floor of nurses vowed never to order from any other place. I would recommend it with the highest regard. Do yourself a favor and try this place!!!!!!!
- Pros: LOTS
- Cons: NONE
Best Chinese in Nashville
by mrskandy
Whether you have a little time or a lot of time this is the place to check out. The food is freshly cooked, the staff is friendly & courteous. Located in upscale Green Hills without the pricey menu. The service is fast!
- Pros: Fast & reasonable priced
- Cons: high traffic area
Not good, not horrible, not going back.

The atmosphere was bland - a little run down looking, but clean. Food is priced higher than average so I expected it to be better than average. It wasn't. Too salty - an obvious use of MSG (why would anyone still use that in their food?!) which ruined the flavor of what *could* have been a good dinner. The staff was friendly.
As a huge fan of Asian cuisine and a fairly decent cook (thanks to a bookshelf full of Asian cookbooks) I have to say I was disappointed with Chinatown Restaurant. Nashville is swamped with bad Chinese food - while Chinatown isn't the worst it is mediocre.
For the money you're better off going to P.F. Changs, Mings or PeiWei.
- Pros: Quick service, decent kids meal - though limited options.
- Cons: Quick service?, flavor, price
La Choy would be better!

Being in Airline management I have had an opportunity to try Chinese food in many places and I was very disappointed with the food. Too sweet, salty, oily and fatty. I tried the duck and it was served in less than 5 minutes! - A very bad sign. It lived up to my worries. It was probably made a week earlier. Also the other dishes were pretty bad.
Best Chinese Food In the Nashville Area.

The overall experience at Chinatown was excellent. We were seated pretty quickly and service was great. The waitress took her time in explaining and recommending the dishes that we were to order. The appetizers were superb, the food even better. It was quite tasty, and very authentic Chinese Cuisine. The children?s portions as well as the regular portions were succulent and exquisite. The price for the whole meal was very adequate. We strongly recommend Chinatown Restaurant.

Sweet and sour delights tucked away in a clean, well-decorated eatery in a strip of shops next to Hillsboro High.
Once a great place --- what happened!?!?!?

I use to look forward to Chinatown Takeout weekly but the service and food has steadily declined. The food is oily and bland now. Oil leaked through the bag twice. The service is descent but slow at times and prices have increased significantly for lower quality service and food. If you plan on take-out look elsewhere this place has lost it's quality.
- Pros: Nice CS (Somtimes)
- Cons: crowded, oily food, bland food
The Night of My Dreams
by sillysax
When I drove up to the quaint little restaraunt, tucked between two stores, the Donut Den's red lights flashing on my surprised face, I wasn't expecting a lot. The night exceeded my expectations as Evan and I devoured our won-ton soup, delectable spring rolls, and savory sweet and sour chicken. The setting was romantic, a unique Chinese ambiance made me forget all about my problems. At the end of dinner, four little fortune cookies lay decoratively on the reasonable bill. I opened one, and inside of it lay an exquisite canary diamond ring. "Oh, Evan," I exclaimed as he wrapped me in a passionate kiss, although that didn't have anything to do with Chinatown, I adore the restaraunt. Highly reccomended on casual dates!
- Pros: the ambiance, the unique cuisine, the price
- Cons: crying babies, slow service, outside appearance
Chinatown defines the typical Chinese restaurant
by dnathan
Chinatown is the typical Chinese restaurant -- when I say that I mean the menu is the exact same as any other Chinese restaurant in the world. The service was somewhat slow -- the food was no better than average. How they claim to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in the country baffles me.
- Pros: Value
- Cons: Slow service
