bad food- waste of money

What a rip off. Ran out of soup but was told there was some in the cooler for sale but we would have to take it home to reheat it. nice.
turkey salad bland, fruit tea sour ( manager said it was '' fine'' )
the attempt at flan was sad.. more like pudding.
very, very bad.
- Cons: still too much money & the food quality has diminished
GOODBYE - PLANTED CITYSEARCH REVIEWS - AVOID - used to eat AND work here
by DoYourCulinaryHomework
This company has gone downhill faster than a greased toboggan on Mt. Everest! Consider: Why is there still not a website after two years of "coming soon". Why are there fewer employees and higher prices? Why won't the owner answer any customers complaints, etc?
This company PLANTS REVIEWS on citysearch!!! I witnessed it although it was supposed to be a "secret at administration" but we heard about it and I witnessed it. Look around November 2006 through early 2007!!!! For ALL locations. Who are the one-time or few-time reviewers with the 5-star ratings in the middle of all the other negative feedback??? INSIDERS. Hiding the fact that the owner is off fishing all over the world with YOUR $$$ rather than caring about your purchases. Or enjoying one of two Belle Meade houses. If you are employee that won't be abused or who has morals - find a job somewhere else!!!! Mommy really screwed up giving sweet sonny this business - it was great before he took it!
Don't support the mentioned and unmentionable "habits" - Jersey Mikes and others will treat you right and have owners who care!!!!
Saying GOODBYE to Bread and Company
by MercieMe
My family has been eating at Bread and Company for years. Yes it is pricey, but the sandwiches are out of this world. Recently learned that our "13th is free" cards were no longer valid as they had transitioned to a swipe card as opposed to a hole-punch card. It was all fine and dandy until they informed us that they would not credit the swipe cards with the current hole punches we had for all of the other dozen sandwiches we had purchases over time.
Screw it, I'm done with the overpriced sandwiches and $3 cookies.
Jersey Mike's is so much better.
- Pros: Food isnt bad
- Cons: Pricing, lack of parking in most locations, screwing customers out of the 1 free sandwich a year
I am DONE with this place!!

I have been eating on and off at Bread and Company for the past five years, specifically the Green Hills location. I have walked out of that restaurant several times saying that I will never go back, well this time I am sticking to it. I ate there yesterday and ordered a bowl of Tomato basil, a side of chicken pasta salad, and a small drink. After finishing most of my soup I looked in the bowl there was nice yummy inch long BLACK HAIR in the bottom!!! So I proceeded to tell the girl that I thought that she should know and she said in a smart a** tone "well thank you for letting me know". What? There was no apology, no wow that really gross, sorry for our disgusting restaurant....NOTHING! The staff is rude, the food is overpriced, the seats are uncomfortable, and the entire restaurant is just downright filthy!
- Pros: Food is average
- Cons: Everything else about the place
Undesirable & Company? Yes I'll have that salad with the antenna critters in it, sprinkle a little mud on top and a cup of glass soup please..

As a first hand concerned outsider I am just wanting to alert the public of the following health concerns/instances that have happened at this business (not necessarily at this location as I am posting on all 4 locations) within the last 9 months, cause personally I would want to know if someone else knew of this dining knowledge. EEEEyuk.
Someone had some food catered in and she said she found mud in her salad.
Someone found glass in their meal.
A certain critter with antennas (not allowed to say the "C" word here on city search) was found inside with a meal, (I guess it was having a meal to) inside a to go container that was delivered from Cool Springs to a customer.
A customer complained of severe food (we're not allowed to say the "P" word either - so will say the outdated term which means the equivalant of Ptomaine), a few hours after eating at the Green Hills location )c:.
Unfortunately theres more, but these are the first 4 that pretty much amazed me.
**Please choose your dining establishments carefully when dining out or with friends and family. And please always write reviews regarding health concerns and bad service to warn your fellow diner.**
- Pros: You might get to eat something you thought you would never have the experience to eat
- Cons: You might not want to have this experience

I live about 30 min. from B & C and i must say, rarely am I dissapointed when i make that trip downtown.(Vandy location) I will say they are slightly overpriced but the quality of the food is well worth it.(the Waldorf salad, and Almond crossaints are the best!)
- Cons: Parking is a nightmare sometimes!

We used to get along so well Bread & Co and I. I used to enjoy really good food for a fair price - yes it was more expensive, but you know the old adage "you get what you pay for." Well, not any more! I have been a loyal customer for years. My favorite was a half strawberry fields salad, no meat, some cranberry nut bread and tomato basil soup, fruit tea and occasionally I would treat myself to one of their amazing cookies and I remember getting out for around $10-12 but like I said not anymore - and here's why.
Around five months ago B&C went through a price increase and menu change eliminating the benefit of ordering a half Strawberry Fields salad to save a couple bucks to put toward some soup. When I ordered a half salad at both West End & Cool Springs I was faced with the same dilemma, the half salad costs the exact same as the whole salad? So, upon inquiring with the manager at West End I was told that the costs of everything had gone up and that the prices had to be passed on to the customer - which I understand, but then he explained that another reason was due to the fact that Vanderbilt students have a habit of coming in and leaving without paying!!! That completely shocked me! So, basically all customers of B&C are unaware donors to those Vandy students who chose to not pay! Well, OK.. I shrugged it off and gave them another chance. My LAST visit was about two weeks ago. I picked up a pre-prepared Strawberry Fields salad and asked the gentleman behind the counter what the cost was on a pint of soup, he replied $4.99, get up to the register the price had increased to $5.99! I mean the prices literally continue to increase from the ordering to the paying, so watch out! Upon asking about the difference in price I was told the person giving me the price had been away for about a week and there had been a price increase! Really AGAIN!! I get that prices are rising, but Soup & Salad for $16 seems way out of touch with the market.
Best food in Nashville

The food is extremely good here. The employees do seem to be worked a little too hard and they always seem to be short handed. It is worth the wait. The food is excellent, soup is fantastic and the pastries are to die for!!! I go quite often for lunch. The lunches are a crazy time at this place, but as I said it is well worth it. I am hopeful that they will get more help, as sometimes I get back to work at the last minute. Many times the snobs of Belle Meade make it even harder on the people who are busting their tails to get their food in a timely manner. But, all in all, it is my most favorite place to eat lunch. (And sometimes dinner!!) They offer a wide variety of GREAT bread, and much of it is really GOOD for you!
- Pros: YUMMMMMMMY food
- Cons: Long waits at lunch

I worked at Bread & Company for 4 months. I was supposed to receive a raise after 3 months and brought it up to my manager several times only to be disregarded. I was then told that I would receive back pay after my raise for the period after the three months in which I hadn't received my raise yet. I never missed a day of work and was at least 10 minutes early to work almost every single day, In fact I was never late one time. One day I came in to work and was then told I was fired. I asked the reason why I was let go and was told " I don't have to have a reason to fire you, I can fire you for no reason if I want to" or at least thats what the administration office told me. The store manager that let me go told me he didn't want to let me go and that it wasn't his decision. When I went to the administration office I asked to talk to the owner he refused to talk to me at all. I had seen the owner more than a dozen times in the store when he would come to get food for himself and only knew it was him because somebody else told me it was him. I don't know how many times he must have walked by me at work and never even said hello one time. I went to the administration office on multiple occasions to try and straighten out what I thought to be some kind of misunderstanding only to be treated disrespectfully and rude. They would only say they didn't have to have a reason. I then filed unemployment and it was granted when they filed a report which they stated their was no reason for my termination. I have never had a problem with any other previous or present employer. I have never felt as if I mattered any less to any employer and was totally humiliated!!!!!! All of the employees in Green Hills that don't have any association with the administration are great people!
- Cons: UPPER LEVEL MANAGEMENT
