Great clinic. Dr. Spain was the best and the others there, especially Chip Rodgers are good too. Dr Spain left in the 90's to run her own biz, treating pets in the comfort of their home. Really neat. Dr S. was great for my elder large labradoodle and german shephard who were both tempermental, had trouble getting in and out of my vehicle, and were a handful to transport in pairs. But for a traditional clinic visit Hillsboro is solid. Its hard to go wrong here.

I took my teacup chihuahua to see Dr. Sewell for the first time recently and had a wondeful experience. The entire staff was very friendly and compassionate, and the facility was very nice and very clean. They were very gentle with her and took the time to explain everything they did, even clipping her toenails for no charge. Dr. Sewell was also very honest about what Cocoa might need in terms of follow-up, and gave the pros and cons of each, rather than trying to sell me a bunch of stuff that I may never need or get any use out of. We had to wait a little while even though we had an appointment, but it was simply because they take their time to give each pet (and family) the same care and attention and I didn't mind at all. I would highly recommend them to anyone!
Pros: gentle, compassionate service; very knowledgable

I went to Hillsoboro Animal Hospital several times and I think they are awful! I specifically asked on the phone if the vets like large dogs, of course they lied and said yes. When I went there, the vets clearly did not like large dogs, and had a very bad manner treating them. Their method was to tie them up and muzzle them regardless of their temperment. Then that dreadful Dr Spain would not even examine my dog, just shoved a rabies vaccine into him without even an examination, which is required by law. One of my dogs bloated and all they did was shove a tube down her throat to let the gas out, they did not do the gastropexy surgery, and of course she bloated and torsed later, much more severely at the emergency clinic. I think failing to do a gastropexy is just negligence. In all the states and several countries I've lived in, these vets are without a doubt the worst I've come across. I'm sorry I wasted money there, but thankfully I'll never subject my animals to their crappy "care" again.
Pros: none
Cons: treat animals poorly

I have taken my pets to Hillsoboro Animal Hospital since 1975! When my first vet there, Dr. Campbell ,retired, we were transferred to Dr. Chip Rogers. I have been extremely satisfied with the care we have received . I chose this large facility initially becaus e I wantd a place which could do excellent urgent care--i.e. lab tests, ultrsound, etc. if my pets needed it. HAH manages to provide all that with love and genuine caring. I know that my pets are getting the best help possible when I take them there.
Pros: Cutting edge scientific care by very professional staff
Cons: Crowded parkng lot occasionally

DEAR PET LOVER, I LOVE GOING TO SEE DR. CHIP ROGERS. HE IS THE BEST VET IN TOWN. MY YELLOW LAB LOVES COMMING THERE. WE BRING HIM JUST ABOUT EVER MONTH TO GET A BATH AND NAIL TRIM. WHEN IT COMES TIME TO GO SEE DR. ROGERS BUDDY JUST RUN TO TE DOOR TO GET IN THE CAR FOR A RIDE. EVEN WHEN DR. ROGERS IS OUT OF THE OFFICE AND SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO STEP IN BUDDY STILLLOVES IT. ALLTHE DOCTORS ARE GREAT BUT DR. ROGERS IS BUDDYS FAVORITE DOCTOR. YOU SHOULD GO AND VIST THE STAFF AT HILLSBORO ANIMAL CLINIC.
Pros: HONEST OPINION
Cons: SOMETIMES SLOW

Hillsboro is a good, solid vet clinic. The years I lived in Green Hills, this was the vet clinic I used and they saw me through the death of a beloved dog. However, the biggest mistake this group of vets ever made was letting Dr. Sherry Spain go...the best, or one of the best, vets they had -- she was lots of people's favorite there for a long time. (She left and started her on "At Home" service where she makes house calls.) But overall you can't go wrong here...all of the vets are competent and kind and will see you through the best or worst of times with your animals.
Pros: location, expertise, sense of caring
Cons: Dr. Spain's gone!
