Best cakes and cinnamon rolls around!

Oh such wonderful baked goods! My sister and I grew up in Donelson and had Becker's cakes for every birthday. And cinnamon rolls whenever possible. The cakes are still just a good...40 years later! In fact, my sister is driving from Murfreesboro to Donelson to get our "shared" birthday cake this year. They're simply the best I've ever tasted. After living 25 years in Texas, it's great to get a Becker's cake again!

• Pros: delectible baked goods!
• Cons: only that i live 50 miles away!

Becker's is the Best

I've been going to Becker's Bakery since I moved to Donelson when I was 4 years old. It was always such a treat when my Mom would stop at Becker's for some butter cookie's! As an adult, I moved to Texas and had to give up Becker's or so I thought. One day I was really homesick and a package came from my sister who has remained in the Nashville area all these years. I was delighted to find 10 DOZEN butter cookies!! What a surprise and how wonderful it was to have those marvelous cookies. I closed my eyes, pictured my beloved Nashville, the fun and the wonderful smell of Becker's and for a little while I was back home...

• Pros: The butter cookies are melt in your mouth good
• Cons: It's slightly out of the way

Call before you pick up your order

I made to separate birthday cake orders (they werent identical) to be picked up on different days. I picked up the first and everything was fine.

I arrived to pick up the second one and it wasn't made. Reportedly, someone had not "pulled" my order because they thought that it was a duplicate.

So, I would suggest that you call the day before to make sure your order will be ready before you show up.

They made my little girl cry because she didn't have a cake! :(

Wasted trip!

I was a frequent customer of the 12th ave location and was sad to see it go.

The donelson location is out of the way but a friend wanted a chocolate pie and for him, it was worth the trek to donelson. I was disappointed to hear that the donelson location didn't have meringue pies or cinnamon rolls like those at the historic location but never-the-less reserved a fudge pie. Reconfirming the morning of pickup before I made the journey, I was assured everything was in order. I arrived at 1200 as agreed upon, only to be told that they had sold out of fudge pies. My reserved pie was in fact not reserved. I received an empty apology but nothing that resembled sincerity.. no offer to have a complimentary substitute. ..nothing. Obviously repeat business is not a priority and I won't be returning.

Caterers Dream!!

I am a local caterer, who uses Becker's Bakery on a regular basis! Recently, I had an immediate need , their staff was friendly, understanding, and most of all accomodating. The cake that I purchased was a white cake with a delicious lemon filling, topped with a scrumptious icing( just a hint of lemon to compliment, but not overpower). I had so many compliments on the cake- one of the guest inquired if I made the cake- I confessed I did not- she ordered her twins that exact cake for their 9th birthday party ( Becker's accomodated her by having that exact cake shaped like a guitar/ and went out of their way to ornate it with High school Musical items!!).

I have read some of the other reviews; and have never experienced a poor product or unfriendly service. However, working with this establishment has been a blessing to my business; and I know without a shadow of a doubt, if there were ever a problem with my order, they would go out of their way to make it right ( even if they had to deliver it to you personally @ your function) .. I know from experience that this type of service will not be received from your local grocery store. Becker's Bakery is a family owned establishment and their reputation is what made them; as well as, keeps them in business 50 years later.. they want you to be THRILLED, if you give them the opportunity, which I am glad I have, and will continue to do!

Very disappointing

I ordered my son's 1st birthday cake from here. It was horrible. I took one bite and was done. The cake was DRY, DRY, DRY. I was very disappointed. I would not advise anyone to order a cake from Beckers Bakery. The staff was not helpful and the cake was horrible. I have had better luck at Kroger.

Best bakery ever!!!

I love Becker's. They always deliver great baked goods on time. I use them all the time. Especially birthdays. I have noever been let down by them.

BEST wedding cakes and service

I went to Beckers Bakery in Donelson for my wedding cake. Not only did I get a GORGEOUS cake, but I got service as if I were family. I love the fact that people have been getting their wedding cakes from Beckers since the 1950s. It's a Nashville tradition. The cake tasted perfect, just like my wedding day!

Just average for me...

I ordered my daughter's baptism cake a couple of years ago and it was just ok. The lettering was not as professional as I would have liked. Also, they have no images of the cakes they make in some kind of book and I had to bring in my own topper. I felt the service was more of a guessing game. I ordered my daughter's second birthday cake from Wal-Mart...a two-tier cake in beautiful colors and everyone said it tasted better and looked better. It would really benefit Beckers to have an image book of the cakes they make, especially specialty cakes.

very dissapointed

I also ordered my daughter's first birthday cake from Becker's and I have to say that they let me down. I chose Becker's over Publix or Kroger because of the history of the bakery and because my family has had good experiences with them in the past. When I picked up the cake, the flowers on the top were smashed and the colors were weak as if the coloring ran out before they were finished decorating it. When we actually ate the cake, it was VERY dry and the icing was ALL sugar. This cake was definatley not worth the money I spent on it and not worth the worry I spent over getting the perfect cake for my daughter's first birthday. Based on my experience and several similar reviews I have read, I will not order from Becker's in the future.
