Great French Toast!

by scooby7 at Citysearch

The French Toast was AWESOME! Very pretty looking too! If the person ahead of us hadn't noticed we had to get a parking ticket, we might've gotten towed! It's free in the parking lot behind for the 1st 1 1/2 hrs. (with a lot ticket)...other wise you need to find street parking. We went on a Monday afternoon, so the wait was under 10 minutes. We got seated at a table along the wall, so we were very close to the two tables on either side of us. But it was a casual place and the waitress was very relaxed, it was enjoyable. The volume seemed loud at times, but nothing too over the top. The service was fast & friendly and the order, accurate. The bathrooms could've used work, but I've seen worse. The table was clean. The cashier was nice. It was nice to not have to wait for the waitress the realize we were done and then bring us a ticket, she brought it out shortly after our order, when she checked on us and we payed at the register, when we were ready. She kept checking on us and getting us our refills. We definitely will go back. Maybe not when the line is too awful long, but for sure we will dine there again!

  • Pros: Good Food, Pay @ Register
  • Cons: Can be a wait, Parking may be tough, a little cramped/loud

Quite Tasty for Breakfast or Lunch

by laceydoo at Citysearch

If you can get in without the usual wraparound-the-building wait, then it's totally worth visiting. I happened to be luck enough to only wait about fifteen minutes to be seated. We had a fantastic server (cannot remember her name). The Caribbean Pancakes are excellent (add chocolate chips). If there is an hours long wait, then you should just try another of Nashville's excellent restaurants, but if you do go it's quite tasty.

  • Pros: good food and upbeat atmosphere
  • Cons: long wait usually

Good pancakes

by mrsqspn at Citysearch

So my husband and I went finally...and I have to admit the pancakes were tasty. The meal as a whole was pretty solid. I mean its called Pancake Pantry...its not gourmet. If you want a dining experience go to Germantown Cafe for brunch.

Pancake Pantry is what it is. We were smart enough not to go on the weekend...so we didnt wait at all. Got food pretty quick.

I just hated how I had to squeeze between two tables. The bathrooms were disgusting. They really do need to take the time to clean up and a uniform wouldnt be a bad idea. Even if its just a polo shirt thats a uniform color. It makes a difference.

I would go again but I wouldnt wait in line for more than ten minutes.

  • Pros: Solid Breakfast Lineup
  • Cons: Tight table arrangement

Decent.

by BoBigRed at Citysearch

I would recommend this place if your visiting. It's one of those things I think you should do. Decent food. the pancakes where good. The best part was their syrup. It wasn't maple, but it was great (they had maple though)!! I would definitley buy some. Infact, I wish I would have. I would say the food is slightly above average. I wouldn't really say it's worth standing in a super long line for though, but it is just to try it once. When I got there I only had to wait 20 min. I usually don't like to wait, but I did. I've heard that their are usally long lines. I asked the waiter about it and he said there can be super long lines. I then asked him, before we ate mind you, if it was worth it. His reply "Naw". There you have it. Decent, food worth it if you haven't been there otherwise I probably wouldn't go back just because of the wait.

  • Pros: Decent food
  • Cons: Long waits and just Ok food

Love it, but avoid Saturdays and Sundays

by murphyjt at Citysearch

If it wasn't for the wait on the weekends, this would be 5 stars. But I am hungry come breakfast/brunch time and I can't wait an hour for food, even if it is insanely fun and addictive. Sugar 'n spice pancakes are amazing, as are the pecan.

  • Pros: the food on the weekdays
  • Cons: the wait on the weekends

A Nashville Tradition!

by pjs2780 at Citysearch

I had my fair share of waiting in lines and downing delicious pancakes during 4 years in Nashville. The sweet potato pancakes with the cinnamon cream syrup are to die for (a friend loved them so much, we visited twice in 3 days). The hash browns are also among some of the best I've had.

Worth the wait

by grubgabber at Citysearch

We come to Nashville often and the Pantry is on the must visit list. Often more than once. Yes the line is long, yes some of the staff is well.... rough around the edges... but it is a pancake house what do you expect? They have some of the best bacon in town and a good old buttermilk cake that we just can't match up north.

We have been there many times now and every visit the staff is chatty and personable with us. Busy times and not so busy times alike.

I will probably regret telling people to go since it just means making the line longer - but if you like good basic breakfast fare without the glitz and glam - you have to visit.

  • Pros: People watching, celeb sightings a possibility, fantastic bacon
  • Cons: Long line and limited parking

Very nice breakfast place

I was very impressed. The food was awesome. Didn't care for the parking or the long lines, but other than that it was a great experience.

Great food, a bit rough on the edges

by quazforb at Citysearch

The best french toast ever, and otherwise very good food. There are some weaknesses, like slow service and a herd-mentality atmosphere, and some inattention to detail (one of my pieces of toast was untoasted bread), but this is the stuff foodies travel for. I will probably avoid midday weekends next time, as the waits are long.

  • Pros: Food, food, food
  • Cons: Wait, wait, wait
