An institution in Nashville dining
by smoothybobo
I've eaten there regularly for nearly 20 years and I'll never forget how stupid I felt when I first tried the sweet potato pancakes! I could have been having them all along! The strawberry waffle rules and the buckwheat pancakes are excellent. It's all good. I took a friend from out of town one time and he was extemely impressed to see Chet Atkins having breakfast with Mark Knopfler. The best waitresses in Nashville. From your very first visit, it always feels like home. Wonderful people.
- Pros: feels like home, wonderful food, wonderful people
- Cons: should be open 24/7,, can't go on the, weekends for the line
Great French Toast!
by scooby7
The French Toast was AWESOME! Very pretty looking too! If the person ahead of us hadn't noticed we had to get a parking ticket, we might've gotten towed! It's free in the parking lot behind for the 1st 1 1/2 hrs. (with a lot ticket)...other wise you need to find street parking. We went on a Monday afternoon, so the wait was under 10 minutes. We got seated at a table along the wall, so we were very close to the two tables on either side of us. But it was a casual place and the waitress was very relaxed, it was enjoyable. The volume seemed loud at times, but nothing too over the top. The service was fast & friendly and the order, accurate. The bathrooms could've used work, but I've seen worse. The table was clean. The cashier was nice. It was nice to not have to wait for the waitress the realize we were done and then bring us a ticket, she brought it out shortly after our order, when she checked on us and we payed at the register, when we were ready. She kept checking on us and getting us our refills. We definitely will go back. Maybe not when the line is too awful long, but for sure we will dine there again!
- Pros: Good Food, Pay @ Register
- Cons: Can be a wait, Parking may be tough, a little cramped/loud
Amazing Legacy & Eats
by AllMySomethings
Pancake Pantry is a part of Nashville culture. Not only do the locals and tourists both wait in long lines (rain, snow or shine) but so do the local celebrities. It's amazing food and usually really good service. Worth the time to eat and not that pricey, either!
- Pros: Chocolate Sin Pancakes - HEAVEN
- Cons: Long Wait
Worth the wait
by phoenix95
I have been wanting to try The Pancake Pantry, and after 5 years of living in Nashville, I finally made it out there. There was a little wait, but not too bad. The people in line were all in good spirits and the weather was nice. We were seated pretty quickly and the service was prompt. Our waitress was very nice and did an awesome job. A good place to people watch, since the layout of the restaurant is quite open. I had the Sugar and Spice pancakes, and my gf had the Raspberry Delight pancakes... both were absolutely delicious! I would love to go back and try different ones!
- Pros: Excellent selection and service
- Cons: A bit of a wait to get in
Quite Tasty for Breakfast or Lunch
by laceydoo
If you can get in without the usual wraparound-the-building wait, then it's totally worth visiting. I happened to be luck enough to only wait about fifteen minutes to be seated. We had a fantastic server (cannot remember her name). The Caribbean Pancakes are excellent (add chocolate chips). If there is an hours long wait, then you should just try another of Nashville's excellent restaurants, but if you do go it's quite tasty.
- Pros: good food and upbeat atmosphere
- Cons: long wait usually
Awesome Cakes!
by KrisN
This is the most amazing menu for pancakes that I have ever seen. There are pancakes that you can not even imagine. The sweet potatoe pancakes with the cinnamon cream syrup is absolutely to die for. Also, Chocolate Sin - with raspberry compote and choc ganash is heaven on earth. It is worth every extra dime you spend - and wait - the line is nothing once you enter the doors.
- Pros: Amazing slection
- Cons: hard to decide
Good pancakes
by mrsqspn
So my husband and I went finally...and I have to admit the pancakes were tasty. The meal as a whole was pretty solid. I mean its called Pancake Pantry...its not gourmet. If you want a dining experience go to Germantown Cafe for brunch.
Pancake Pantry is what it is. We were smart enough not to go on the weekend...so we didnt wait at all. Got food pretty quick.
I just hated how I had to squeeze between two tables. The bathrooms were disgusting. They really do need to take the time to clean up and a uniform wouldnt be a bad idea. Even if its just a polo shirt thats a uniform color. It makes a difference.
I would go again but I wouldnt wait in line for more than ten minutes.
- Pros: Solid Breakfast Lineup
- Cons: Tight table arrangement
Best Breakfast Ever!
by Kadibug
My husband loves breakfast so I have been dragged to many of the breakfast hot spots. This place is the best. I hate to over eat because it feels horrible, but this place is so good I almost always do! I love this place!!!
- Pros: The food
- Cons: The wait
Don't waste your time standing in line
by rockyruru
What I don't understand about this restaurant is that people stand in line for hours like they're going to see the pope and it consistently has below average health scores! Ive stood in line for a 76 score! And the appearance of the cooking staff does not make it more manageable. They looked like they needed to be inspected for cut fingers and no gloves. I caught a glimpse of the pancake batter container which was disgusting. The water the wait staff was using to clean the tables clearly needed to be changed and was still being used. I even caught a server cleaning a syrup jar with what appeared to be a filthy dishrag. Please...don't waste your time standing in line. Check the score first
- Pros: the pancakes are delicious, not too heavy
- Cons: everything else
overpriced...horrible wait times
by Harvey15
Just go to cracker barrel...the pancakes are good but it's not worth this. Service is slow and the waitress we had forgot us for about 15 minutes.
- Pros: good food
- Cons: busy overprice
Its because its somewhat famous
by kimcat43
Pancake Pantry has been around since the 60's and I am sure in its HAYDAY the food and the service was supreme. But its just a resturant. The food is no better than IHOP or Cracker Barrel. Its just because its been on TV and famous. If you read most of reviews from all kinds of people, you will see its nothing special. Its just a resturant. It has its good days and bad. I think it really depends on who the cooks are. Some days the food will be good other days not so good. No if you just want some good food its not worth waiting in line for a long time. Go to IHOP or Cracker Barrell or lol Shoneys. But if you are here visiting here and you want to eat there to say you have been there fine. But again if you are just hungry and want to eat breakfast this may not be the place for you.
- Pros: Its just food.
- Cons: Long lines and not worth the hassell
