Need To Try
by CSMobileUser
Tang's exceeded my expectations and I'm confident they will yours as well. In "everything" they do, they go the extra mile. All restaurants should take a page from there book. You must try it to believe it. You will NOT be disappointed.
Worst experience at a restaurant - anywhere
by Nashville908
I don't usually write these things, but I just can't let this slide. Don't eat at this restaurant. Period. Here's why:
1. The food is extremely overpriced for what you're getting
2. I ordered Beef & Broccoli - it was watery and the meat tasted like fat..no flavor at all. How do you mess up beef and broccoli???
3. My husband ordered the "Steak and King Crab Dinner" - It came with 3 tiny pieces of crab mixed in with nasty meat and water
4. When I told the waitress about how we didn't like the food (I ate literally one bite) her response was "You ordered."
5. The manager/owner/cook came out and told my husband he couldn't prove there were only 3 pieces of meat because he ate them. No apology for the horrible food - just blatant rudeness and attitude
6. There was only ONE other customer in the room at dinner time
7. The waitress raised her voice to me after I told her she had been very rude.
8. Not only is this the worst restaurant I've been to in Nashville, it's the worst restaurant I've been to in the US. I've NEVER been treated that way as a paying customer. Needless to say, do NOT eat here
- Pros: Decent atmosphere
- Cons: Service horrible; Rude management; Terrible food; Way overpriced
What's the big deal?
by JBBBNashville
We chose this restaurant from all of the great reviews and were VERY disappointed. The egg rolls were a joke and the food was colorless and bland. The wontons in the soup were way overcooked. The beef & broccoli was steamed at best and everything seemed to be floating in a watered down sauce. I could go on but I think it will suffice to say that every single dish was a great disappointment.
- Pros: Parking
- Cons: Food, Prices
Hot fresh Chinese food!
by psalm1914
After living in Memphis with good restaurants on every corner, we were a bit disenchanted when we moved to Williamson County. A friend recommended Tangs. We've been regulars since. (10+years?). Best service ever, seldom have a water glass empty. Always fresh, abundant food. Highly Recommend. The General Tso and Fried Dumplings are our favorites.
- Pros: No wait; fresh, hot food
- Cons: ??Not free?? I don't know!
It went to the moon, afterall

We love Chinese food. When I moved here 7 years ago I tried most of them. Recently I was filled with joy to discover Tang's. If you like the fresh ingredient's and attention to detail of a PFChang but want something more authentic this is for you. The food is light but filled with flavor and so hot and fresh it will surprise you (like the person in the previous review who burned himself on the PooPoo platter, there is a joke in their or more likely a Darwin Award :). Anyway you won't be dissapointed plus they have been family owned for 20 years but by the taste of things just getting started. The exotic fish in the aquariums could be an attraction all their own. Relaxing, inviting, and delicious.
- Pros: Food! Ambience Friendly
- Cons: You have to go thru Antioch (kidding)
Best local Chinese food around.
by brandiwine717
I love this restaurant. The food is always great. We go to Tang's about twice a month and rarely have complaints. It is locally owned and ran. Nancy usually is the one who takes your order and she is great at remembering you. Also, the atmosphere is nice for a low key romantic evening. My husband and I always end up with plenty of left overs. Our favorite dishes are the Lemon Chicken (whole chicken breast lightly battered and fried with a light lemon sauce, served with broccoli and rice), Combination fried rice (chicken, steak, pork, veggies, and 2 shrimp), and I LOVE their wonton soup (chicken broth with giant wonton noodles stuffed with pork, served with a side of crunchy wontons).
BTW, if you are looking for the best value for your money, try them for lunch. The prices are perfect.
- Pros: Spectacular food, little to no wait time - ever, Great Local Feel
- Cons: Decor is a little out of date.
Rude crabby service
by foodmongrak412
My husband and I went there last night for dinner and we will never go again. The waitress/owner/cashier/hostess, whatever she was, was so rude. She didn't smile, didn't ask how we were doing, didn't even ask if my husband was okay after their pupu appetizer grill popped and burned him right in front of her. I am a waitress and would expect to be fired if I treated a customer that way. My very easy gping husband had enough when she threw our dinner plates on the table and when she finally brought the food out he asked her for to go boxes. This seemed to make her even more angry and she just became even more hostile. I feel like we were judged by her because we are a young couple and my husband is Latin American. Too bad she didn't know we are both in the service industry and tend to tip 50-100%. When we asked to talk to a manager she gave us a straight faced no and didn't offer any condolences or reason for her poor attitude. We will never go there again and if you are a person who likes a little good old fashioned customer service with your $50 chinese food than I would go to Fulin's or heck, any other chinese restaurant on Bell Rd. In short, I have never had such a poor restaurant experience since I have lived in Nashville.
- Pros: No pros, never had a worse experience
- Cons: Terrible service, rude staff, little food for the money
THE best Chinese restaurant in town
by dlv2
I've been going here since my grown children were small. THE BEST in town. Like going home to eat. Nancy remembers what your preferences are. Plus she always asks about the family. The food is AAA+ - service impeccable.
Best Chinese Food in Nashville
by drarkanex
Nancy is there from Lunch to Dinner making sure your meal is the best it can be. Lunch is 5 minutes from the time you order it. Food is fresh and tasty. The Chow Mein, General Tso, Sweet and Sour Chicken are tops. No other Chinese restaurant can savor Tang's duty to excellence. They have been in the same location for many years (20+) and although they just raised prices several cents a few months ago, the price is unbeatable. You can't get a more filling lunch anywhere in Nashville for under $7.
Nancy, You are the best!!
- Pros: Fast Service, Excellent Food, Great Health Rating
- Cons: No Cons, All Pros
Without a Doubt - Best Chinese Food in Nashville
by nicemac
The Tangs have very nearly the perfect restaurant. It is small and quiet with great service, a warm atmosphere, and terrific food with low prices. The attention to detail in the recipes, the freshness of ingredients, the presentation of the food with carved butterfly garnishes, and incredible service (including hot towels after dinner) make Tangs my favorite restaurant in Nashville.
The only other place I have had food this good is actually in China!
If you are in Tennessee, like Chinese food, and you don't try Tangs in Nashville, you are making a mistake.
- Pros: Great food, good service at a good price,
- Cons: The more people find out about it, the busier it will become.
