Rude

by Elizabeth333222

Elenor Clay, the owner of Sylvan Park is a very rude lady. I would not suggest eating at this restaurant. There are many other wonderful places to dine in Nashville without giving this business owner business your business.

Donelson Location finally meets expectations

by Niki4God

We were so happy to have a Donelson location open a year or more ago, but very disappointed when we ate there. They were not open long and we didn't mourn their closing. After another restaurant (which was also pretty bad) opened then closed the Sylvan Park sign went back up. I decided to try it again today and was very pleasantly surprised. I went with two friends and we had a wide assortment of the veggies, along with crabcakes and roast beef. We were all very pleased and found the food to be flavorful and well cooked. Our server was very patient with us while we waited for one of our friends and took very good care of us. If you tried this restaurant in one of its previous incarnations, you should really consider giving it another try.

  • Pros: Service, veggies, portions
  • Cons: Seems a little pricey, but I'm kind of cheap

Do you like cat food?

by u2bonoman

If you do, try the roast beef. It's got the smell and the consistency of cat food, and I can even imagine that this is what cat food tastes like. Really just some of the worst roast beef I have ever had, and I have had A LOT. The green beans were good, and the other veges just ok. And the service?? HORRIBLE.

So, supposedly this place has great chocolate pie. I guess I'll never know, because I was hoping to try a piece and didn't get to. Why? Because a group of 6 people came in just as I was about to finish my meal, and the server apparently knew them, because she asked them immediately if they wanted chocolate pie. Apparently there was only 2 slices left, so she gave them a chance to claim them. That's just.... stupid.

  • Pros: Green beans
  • Cons: Everything else.

you're definitely in the south

by ahennig

this is a restaurant with classic southern food. the prices are fair and the service is good. they servers all seem a little bit southern themselves. it seems like a great place to take a family. there was a decent variety of food too. it really reminded me of eating at home (only you didn't have to do the cooking or the dishes).

  • Pros: service
  • Cons: hours

A very good experience

by DavidTragle

Decided to try the Sylvan Park in Donelson, My mother and I were seated and waited on immediately. The waitress was nice and after asking if we needed more time, she returned soon. I ordered the days special which was a barbeque sandwich with french fries and cole slaw. The waitresses worked together to see to it that our food was brought out quickly. There was ample barbeque and french fries and all was good. The diet coke was good. The waitress tended to us frequently without being intrusive. I was attended to quickly when paying. I enjoyed my experience at the restaurant.

Worst Food in Donelson

by chefjud

Worst dining experience i had in a long time period. My wife loved the first one and always raved about it so i gave the new one in donelson a try, Upon entry i was ignored for 3 minutes while the 6 waitresses explained to a new girl how the tips and break system works maybe they should explain sitting. On seating i saw breakfast mmm good it was 10:05 the waitress informed me that breakfast after 10 is somewhat a worse quality and she advised we just order from the lunch menu WTF so i ordered the BBQ ribs and my wife had the meatloaf. 25 minutes later our cold food arrives just disgusting every aspect from the cold mac to the undercooked ribs with no bbq sauce at all on it i was told to ask for bbq next time and she will get it. I was starving so i decided to order a burger since i had not eaten my lunch yet 5 minutes later i was brought a chewy piece of beef and fries with NO KETCHUP she said they were filling the bottles it might be a couple of minutes WTF AGAIN at the end after drinking the best tea i had in a long time (only positive) i was informed that the restrooms were out of order. I PAY MY BILL AND WILL NEVER GO BACK TIL NEW MANAGMENT HAS ARRIVED AND THE FOOD QUALITY IMPROVES PERIOD>

  • Pros: the tea is to die for
  • Cons: wait staff, managment, cooks need to step up their game to survive in this area, ill go to captain ds next time for lunch in donelson

Dissapointing

by BROBBY

I recently ate at the latest Sylvan Park Restaurant in Donelson.

On the first visit I ordered the BBq Chicken with green beans and Mac & Cheese.

The chicken was dried out although it was drenched in BBQ Sauce. The green beans were flavorless. The Mac & Cheese was okay. However, although the server brought the food out fairly quickly it was basically at room temperature. I got there towards the end of the night so I thought that maybe that had something to do with it.

I went back at lunch time on a Monday. This time I ordered the meat loaf, mashed potato and gravy and baked squash. The squash was okay after I picked off the burnt (not just browned) cheese. The potatoes were bland tasted like plain old instant (didn't appear to have any kind of seasoning). The gravy tasted like it was straight out of a jar or can. Now for the Meat Loaf. The Meat loaf was actually chunks of hamburger meat (not like what most people think of as a slice of meat loaf) floating in grease. I tried my best to strain off the excess but I finally gave up. I asked the waitress why the sandwiches on the back page of the menu had been crossed off, thinking that maybe they were repricing them or something. She told me that they took them off permantly because she declared, they are truly a meat and three. Nobody asked how the meal was including the manager who was cashiering when I paid the bill. I was really looking forward to having a decent meat and three in Donelson. I guess I'll have to wait a little longer.

worst food I've had in Nashville, indifferent service, will leave you disappointed

by katatvandy

honestly i was expecting great things. I have friends who swear by this place so when my mom came into town I had no hesitations. It was horrible. I had the veggie plate which included COLD macaroni and cheese (which the waitress explained was because they had just added some cold water to it, what??). My mother had some sort of chicken dish which she swore must have been recooked every day of the week the meat was so tough and the cut so small. The other dishes were average at best (the only thing that tasted "right" was the cucumbers). We literally sat and looked at each other and then paid and left, leaving to go get our lunch elsewhere. Try Copper Kettle if you want great meat and three. Maybe we have higher standards because my mother grew up in the deep south and I grew up on her home cooked food, but this was miserable.

  • Pros: cheap, convenient
  • Cons: below average food, atmosphere, concerns about food preparation

Best Chocolate Pie Anywhere!

by juiceplusdiva

Actually, Sylvan Park is the best meat-and-three in Nashville! The food is always excellent. Nice large portions for the price. However, plan ahead ... go there for lunch by 11am and call a day or more ahead if you want to take home an entire chocolate pie! The chocolate pie is simply the best!! Don't leave without having a piece ... even if you take it to go!

Favorite meat and three

by jnjmcl

I have gone to pretty much every meat and three in the city, and I rank Sylvan Park the best. The food is always incredible. The price and the portions are what I expect from some good ol' comfort food.

I love their squash casserole, probably my favorite item. You can't go wrong with anything at Sylvan Park. I highly recommend it.

  • Pros: Food, Squash Casserole
  • Cons: None
