Dr. Cassetty - Loving care from the vets and staff, but wiped out savings.

by pepperpolish at Citysearch

My yorkie was attacked by a big, mean, aggressive dog. There was a lot of damage to the poor little guy. As soon as it happened he obviously needed to go the vet ASAP. The closest one (across the street ) was MRAH. I brought him in and when they saw what bad shape he was in they got him into a room right away. Dr. Cassetty took wonderful care of him. She did a 3 hr. surgery on him and made arrangements for him to have all night coverage at the Pet Emergency Clinic. Dr. Cassetty and Mo were very good at explaining the situation and what I could expect as he recovered. They seemed to sincerely care about Spike and his recovery.

Although they seem to be among the most expensive vets in town I mush say that Spike was in horrible shape and in less than 2 week he is doing amazingly well; so it's hard to argue about the money when ,the bottom line is, my special little dog who I adore is still here with me and doing really well.

I'm glad I had the money to make sure he received the care he needed but if money is a concern you may need to ask them as things go along what kind of prices the procedures will cost in order to save you from sticker shock. But If you want your animal/family member to have excellent care I highly suggest the doctors and staff at Murphy Road!

  • Pros: Of the 3 vets we saw (all female) they were compassionate, knowledeable, and friendly.
  • Cons: On the pricer side.

Best animal hospital!!

by boxersrgreat at Citysearch

We were referred here by friends after a bad experience at a couple of other vet hospitals in town. Found the staff at Murphy Road to be very friendly, absolute animal lovers, and very knowledgable. The vets were great, and obviously know their stuff. We've paid more elsewhere, and not received the same excellent service as here, so we've found a healthcare home for our animals. Ask for Dr Bell - he's great!!!

  • Pros: Just like a human hospital
  • Cons: Could have more parking

Awesome Vet Hospital

by boxersrgreat at Citysearch

We have quite a few animals, and a couple have been really sick. Been to a few vets around town, and they couldn't give us any answers. A friend recommended Murphy Road Animal Hospital - boy were we thankful! Awesome staff - Pam up front is so knowledgeable, and friendly. All the staff was great. We ended up seeing a couple of the vets and they were kind, compassionate, and really knowledgeable. They were able to diagnose our dogs' problems, and they're doing great now. They may not be the cheapest in town, but we have found they aren't the most expensive either, but the staff all go above and beyond!! Can't say enough good.

  • Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great vets
  • Cons: Parking a bit tight.

EXTREMELY Overpriced!

by jcarmistead at Citysearch

Last year my wife & I moved to just around the corner from Murphy Road, so we were excited to take our puppy there. After several bad experiences, we have wised-up and gotten out of there. The way they charge is so absurd, we will be telling all our friends and family to absolutely not go there. A couple of the bad experiences: our puppy was having some stomach issues; MR did several tests on him but couldn?t come up with anything definitive that was wrong with him, so they put him on sensitive stomach food. The bill that day was over $300, which seemed ridiculous but we were worried about our puppy so we saw past it. When the problem continued, we wanted to take him back for a follow-up & they had the audacity to want to charge us another $65 just to see a doctor about it! So after a $300 visit in which they couldn?t figure out the problem, they were going to charge another $65 simply to look at him again! We said no way & took him somewhere else.

We ended up going back & took our dog in for a routine check-up in January. He had an infection in his ear & a tick on him that they removed. The bill that day? $500! This was a routine check-up & besides removing the tick all that they found wrong was an ear infection. There is no way in the world it should have cost anywhere close to $500. I cannot believe that they do tests & give medications that are so expensive without checking with the customer first.

Our neighbors had a similar experience. They said MR wanted to operate on their dog; they got another opinion & it was a full $1000 less than MR!

The point of all of this is that MR, in our experiences, charges without any regard or respect for their customers. It really is a shame, & completely absurd. Murphy Road has the reputation of being one of the best vets in town?don?t believe the hype! They are far more interested in gouging you at every turn rather than taking care of your pet in the most sensible way possible.

  • Pros: Some of the vets are friendly
  • Cons: Price, value, no asking before doing tests, wait time

Only after your money

by melreese at Citysearch

When I called to make a grooming appt. for my 9 lb. maltese I was told a hair cut would be $58. I took pictures to show them how I wanted her hair cut since it was my first time to have her groomed there. When i came to pick her up, they charged me $92....for a 9 lb. dog with no tangles or mats to be brushed or cut out!!!! They said because I brought pictures in they had to use scissors instead of sheers to cut her hair.....none of which they told me when i called or dropped her off. Then they wouldn't bring her up to me until i paid them. She looked nothing like the pictures I gave them....and I even had to ask them to trim her ears (they were exactly like they were when i dropped her off). It still looked horrible after they "tried" to fix it....so I took her home and trimmed her ears myself. Seems they willing omitted that using different instruments cost more just get more money out of me. And seemed to have no care in the world that I was not satisfied with the cut I had just paid almost $100 for, and very upset at the fact they did not inform me of the cost I was incurring by simply showing them picture to give them an idea of how I wanted her hair cut. I will NEVER take my dog back to that place again. I hope this was a helpful insight to how this poorly this business is ran and how little regard they have for their customers.

  • Pros: None

Overpriced

Not good with hyper pets. Overcrowding in the waiting room. Staff not very friendly. Vets are friendly, all other staff treat you as if you are a bother.

  • Pros: If they were the only vet in town
  • Cons: parking, layout of building, price, not patient

They saved my pet's life

by greg48_98 at Citysearch

I had taken my dog to two other vets. The Vet School at UT sent me here. It was like being at a human hospital. The staff was wonderful! In two days they had figured out the problem and now my "baby" is feeling fine. If your pet is sick there's no other place to go in Nashville, trust me.

  • Pros: Staff, Amazing technology, My Dog loves going
  • Cons: Limited Parking

very poor service

by muminkurtulus at Citysearch

I took my pup there when we first got him. Our first visit was Ok. But later on we realized that office staff did a mistake to schedule the scond shots for our pup.

Unfortunately, Our pup got pavro infected and the amount of money Murphy road asked to treat him was extremel high and we moved him to another hospital.

The staff at Murphy road is not friendly and the vet did not responded very well to our questions.

Overall, we had very unpleasant experience here and we are taking our pup to another hospital now which is in my opinion way better than Murphy Road. I would not recommend this hospital.
