Best BBQ EVER!!! And service is awesome
by Chasa
I went to Jack's my first time today. I'm so glad I went because it is literally the best bbq I have ever put in my mouth! I pulled up to the drive thru window and after the lady ran my card, it was declined. I had ordered the family pack so it wasn't cheap. The lady said not to worry and she took care of it. It was one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me and my family. This is such a wonderful place and the staff is amazing. I'm a customer for life and it's worth the drive!
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: None
Best food while on travel
by sher1989
At the beginning of the month, I spent my first time in Nashville and
ate at your establishment. This was, by far, the best meal I have
ever had while traveling! The food was excellent and I would highly
recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for making my first experience in Nashville a great one!
I look forward to returning!
- Pros: Excellent food
- Cons: NONE
Best Meat on the Planet!
by SmokeyMeatLover
The meat-man Jack Cawthon knows his pits and how to barbeque the best meat on the planet. I?m addicted to the 3-way (no that?s not a chili-dish) a ?pick-3-meats? platter? My favorites are brisket, ribs and chicken. Once you go Jack?s ? you never go back ? to another barbequer that is! There?s not a pit in Nashville that smokes like Jack?s and he has the awards to prove it. No doubt ? Jack Cawthon has the best meat in Nashville ? hands down. Love your meat Jack!
- Pros: Best smoked meat in Nashville!
- Cons: No cons - perfect meat

Best Bar-B-Que and Friendly Service
by AlanTreadway
I have loved bar-b-que my entire life. That being said, I would have to say that the bar-b-que at Jack's is by the best that I have ever had. Originally, a friend of mine recommended this restaurant for lunch, when I was downtown for lunch one time. Since then, I have been hooked on the food and friendly service.
Anytime I am downtown for either business or an event, I have to go to eat at Jack's. In fact, when have to head north of the city on I-65; I will make it a point to get off at the West Trinity Lane exit to eat at their other location.
The most astonishing part of their restaurant for me is that it is my 8 year old's favorite restaurant. Talk about a finicky eater. Prior to taking him to Jack's, he would only eat chicken fingers or McDonald's, when we went out to eat. Would you believe that this is now his favorite restaurant (AND HE LOVES THE VEGTABLES)? This is a miracle.
I would strongly recommend this restaurant for informal casual and/or business lunch (Trinity Lane), family outing, or anytime you go downtown (Broadway) for an event.
- Pros: Tremendous Food
Best Bar B Que in Town!
by red53
Just getting out of the car and smelling the mouthwatering smoking meat is enough to make you sprint for the door! We live out of town and it is an absolute necessity that we eat Jack's Bar B Que at least once, if not more, when we are in Nashville. We keep trying other bar b que in Nashville , but Jack's still ranks at the top. Also, we have gone several times to down town and Trinity Lane locations, and prefer the Trinity Lane location as it is easier to get into.
- Pros: Quick service from friendly staff.
- Cons: Could be a bit of a wait at noon, but it's worth it.
Best BBQ in the world

- Pros: Good food, great service
- Cons: none
if you can only go to one bbq joint go somewhere else
by jzad77
I would have to say not so good. Especially the one on trinity lane. The Downtown location is better. It is a bit overpriced for bbq. I would say there are a bunch of other bbq joints which are better in Nashville. Tex's is pretty good, bar b cutie is my fave and whitts is pretty much the bottom of the barrel. Look around there is better bbq. But it will do in a pinch.
- Pros: its not that bad
- Cons: its pricey for bbq
Not anywhere NEAR the best bbq in Nashville. Ordinary, in fact.
by london2k
No doubt about it, Jack's has charm, and the location is unbeatable. We DO go there, just because it is so handy....but the bbg is no better than "good". You CAN get really good ribs there...but more often then not they are pulled out too early and are tough and a bit chewy, from lack of adequate cooking. They do have an unusual and great Carolina mustard-based sauce, which is to their credit. The side dishes are pretty weak. The cornbread is downright vile, with the mac and cheese, beans, etc tasting no better than canned.
If it weren't right there on Broadway I can't imagine anyone making the trip. Not with Neely's in town, which really IS a great place.
- Pros: VERY handy location
- Cons: Food that is only average....at best
brisket was good
by Itravel2
My friend and I were in Nashville this past week and had lunch at Jack's. My beef brisket was excellent, tender, good flavor, and even better with sauce. My friend ordered the smoked turkey which was not very good at all. She did not eat it. The green beans were good, the macaroni & cheese was okay; a little mushy. The mild barbecue sauce was pretty good. The guys behind the counter were friendly. Our favorite thing here was the cornbread. In general, we were a little disappointed with the food; but at the same time we felt like we got a pretty authentic experience. If you decide to try it - I would just tell you not to order the turkey, everything else looked pretty good.
- Pros: beef brisket, green beans, good value
- Cons: smoked turkey
The secret's in the sauce at this beloved barbecue joint.

In Short
With pink-neon flying pigs flanking its sign, this barbecue joint is easy to spot among the lower Broadway eateries. Get in line at the back of the casual, cozy dining room to get your paper plate loaded up with pulled pork, ribs and sides. The pork shoulder is tender and smoky and the beef brisket is moist and peppery. There's also macaroni and cheese and green beans--pretty much the only actual vegetable on the menu.
