Waaay too expensive

by jimnarls

This is really not a good use of your money. Over $30 to walk around a museum is totally out of touch with reality. If you have kids, you're well up over $100, let alone of you check out the RCA studio and buy anything.

The CMHOF needs a reality check. Unless all they want to visit the place is old rich people with way too much time on their hands.

  • Pros: Good to remember the real Nashville
  • Cons: Too expensive for too little

Very professional, very worthwhile

by britain

It is difficult to run a non-profit organization and I congratulate the people of the museum who are dedicated and knowledgeable. Every nook and cranny is worth taking the time to examine for the history and interesting facts and accomplishments presented. You can even view the inner workings as some of the office areas, like the archives, have glass walls so you can see works in progress. Our group recognized 2 stars walking around looking while there! George Hamilton IV was showing a friend around; And Tom T. Hall was preparing for a show later in the month! The best part was the live music. Real working songwriters sing the hits they've made for others! Fantastic! We heard Craig Wiseman sing "Live Like You Were Dying", a #1 song for Tim McGraw. We got to ask him questions too! Allow a leisurely half day for this musem and lunch in the great foyer.

  • Pros: Beautiful, quality, of real value
  • Cons: Closes at 5pm.

Staff/Theatre Review

by nashgrl

Bad part of town? It's a great part of town! Hanging out in the greenway between the CMHOF and the hotel and the new symphony hall before a Guy Clark show I thought...wow...Nashville is great! Anyway, I haven't toured the museum yet (I'm awful) but what I have had is a wonderful experience with the staff at the CMHOF, well, a couple of times. Buying tickets to things like the Guy Clark Artist-In-Residence shows and when they tried to find my lost glasses there...and...the acoustics in the small theatre are spectacular. And if their artist-in-residence choices are an indication of things to come...I just think they're wonderful and we are lucky to have them (staff) in Nashville. Tourists who are that picky really should be picky elsewhere. We LOVE tourists who LOVE Nashville like we do.

Nashville's ode to country music and its stars.

by Contributor

In Short
No trip to Nashville is complete without a visit to this museum. The stunning building brings country music center stage with an impressive mix of technology and artifacts. Keep an eye out for Hank Williams' ivory suit stitched with musical notes, Roger Miller's 11 Grammys and Trisha Yearwood's application for a tour guide position at the original museum. Tour packages are also available and include a guided walk through RCA Studio B or Ryman Auditorium.

JUST 2 HOURS?!

by princess_sara

I thought the Hall of Fame was wonderful! The tour book said to allow 2 hours, but I spent 4 1/2! There is just so much to see and do. It is exciting for all ages. My friend who went with me is not even a fan of country music and she LOVED it! I would definately go again. I plan to take my girls there this summer.

  • Pros: take at your own time
  • Cons: a little pricey

Not a country fan but nice museum

by slug

I was impressed and i actually was entertained despite not liking country music.

I was disappointed with the actual hall of fame, but the museum was quite well put together.

Overpriced!

by oldgram1

We enjoyed the Hall of Fame but think we enjoyed the museum out at the Grand Ole Opry just as well.

I guess I expected it to be more than it was. Didn't see that much improvement over the old one other than the building.

Almost got conned by people in the parking lot trying to collect a fee for parking as did many others.

  • Pros: Nice facility, Nice store, Liked the videos
  • Cons: Con men pkg lot, High priced, Bad area of town

DISAPPOINTED

by frizzbees3

We visited the Hall Of Fame last week and were very disappointed. If you have been to the old one, this can't compare. It is a lot of space with nothing in it. We liked the old one MUCH better. Where were all the cars? There are many fun things to do in Nashville, and it is our favorite place to visit, but if you have been to the Hall of Fame before, save your money and do some of the other fun things that are in town.

  • Pros: nice building, parking, not crowded
  • Cons: not enough displays, not enough cars, too much space

countryfun

The new Country Music Hall of Fame is beautifully designed--shaped like a piano keyboard on the outside, and has a tower that represents WSM radio, the station that has always broadcast the Grand Ole Opry. You can spend atleast 3 hours inside. The layout is wonderful, not only do they have a huge wall with all the gold & platium records, but they have another huge wall of posters, printed by the oldest poster print shop here in Nashville---Hatch Sow Print. And, yes, they do have some things from Elvis--after all RCA bought his contract & moved him here to record. So, Elvis is a big part of Nashvile history. Go spend some time and check out the history of Nashville's music & Find out why we are Music City USA.

  • Pros: educational, reasonable priced, wonderful memorys
