Excellent massage
by breezy0413 at Citysearch
My massages here have been very enjoyable and I really feel that I get my money's worth. However, be ON TIME for your appointment or your session will definitely be cut short. If it's your first time, BE EARLY so you can fill out your paperwork without cutting into your massage time. Besides, when you're early, you can watch the fish in the meditation room or relax in the sauna. Robes are provided for lounging between sessions; but plus-sized people should bring a robe from home, as the one provided will not be generous enough for fuller-figured folks. The therapists are well-trained and will tailor the touch to your taste. I just wish their "store" had more interesting products. Otherwise, I've been very satisfied at Essential Therapy, and I will continue to get massages there.
- Pros: well-trained staff
- Cons: West End location
Super disappointing pedicure
by jlwpink at Citysearch
I have been going to Essential Therapy for years but have never had a pedicure there. I typically go to local nail spas for pedicures which run about $32. I scheduled an hour long pedicure to relax & be pampered considering I am 8 months pregnant. I was so looking forward to the experience and most of all....the foot/leg massage portion. The pedicure did not last an hour, the nail tech talked to me the entire time & I recieved no massaging!!! Such a bummer.....Next time I will pay half of what they charge & get way better service. The entire experience felt rushed & like corners where cut......waste of money!
- Pros: Tranquility room
- Cons: High prices that don't warrant the services
Massage with Jerri
by Sjfab88 at Citysearch
For the past 2 years I have seen Jerri once a month and she is the most AMAZING massage therapist ever. She talks to you during the massage, which I admit was a little weird at first, but I really appreciated it because she explained everything that she was doing and why. I recently moved from Nashville and I find that knowing what Jerri was doing has been helpful for me to explain to other therapists what I need. I live in Manhattan now and have so far been unsuccessful in finding anyone who even compares to Jerri.... She is the absolute best!
- Pros: Jerri!
Poor service and too expensive!
by sharreah at Citysearch
I went for the first time a few weeks ago. I was not very impressed. I had a relaxation soak, which was over priced and nothing more than water and scented bath salts. I was forgotten and left in the soak which then caused my massage to start late. There was no compensation. The massage was o.k., but I have had better massages in nashville. I feel that the intention behind this business is not to take care of people, but more focused on how much money they can make.
- Pros: location
- Cons: prices and quality of services
Needs locker room! Service sucked!
by tiyawnah at Citysearch
I was very disappointed with this place. The location in great! When I got there I was shocked to have to change into my robe IN THE BATHROOM! How uncomfortable! I was cold during my facial and my massage was not deep enough. Not to mention, it's one of the most expensive places in nashville. I will go somewhere else from now on, it's not worth it.
- Pros: location
- Cons: everything besides location
Total Relaxation!!!
by SRL1978 at Citysearch
The first time I visited Essential Therapy was when I received a gift certificate for a 60 minute massage. I have been in love ever since! I have had 3 different massage therapists (because I have to schedule a massage when I have time, and am not able to schedule based on the availability of a specific therapist) and all of them have been incredible. Each therapist was courteous. If I didn't want to talk, they didn't talk. If I wanted medium pressure, I was given medium pressure. Each time I go the Essential Therapy, I purposely arrive at least 15-20 minutes early just so I can relax more in the tranquility room. I love the atmosphere, music, and staff. I have recommonded many friends to Essential Therapy and I will continue to do so. I love Essential Therapy!
- Pros: Atmosphere, service, and therapists
- Cons: None
Best Spa in Nashville
by hmb11 at Citysearch
As my gift to my bridesmaids I surprised them all and brought them here the day before my wedding for facials and massages. Essential's was EXCELLENT. When I first began talking with them they were happy to meet my budget, gave me several suggestions, and worked us all in. Unfortunately, due to out of towners who got a little lost, we were about 15 minutes late but the staff at Essentials just worked with it and got us in there flawlessly and no ones services were cut short.
The Japanese relaxation room is one of the best "waiting rooms" in the area. You are whisked in, given and comfy robe, and able to sit down on the mattress like couches instead of waiting in a plastic folding chair like other spa's. There is even a sauna you can sit in while you wait. The staff is friendly and all of the services are amazing.
My day with my bridesmaids could not have been any better and it wouldn't have been as wonderful if we went to any other spa in Nashville. They are truly the best around.
- Pros: Atmosphere, friendly staff, great services
- Cons: Need more mani/pedi stations if your bringing a large group
The Real Deal !
by stronza at Citysearch
Essential Therapy introduced Nashville to the benefits of a relaxing day spa experience, years before day spas were so prevalent. I have always been a fan and stop by whenever possible, just to soak up the atmosphere. Perhaps they are experiencing some issues with change due to the proliferation of new spas in town and the employee turnover that goes with that. It is a very competitive business these days. Beware negative reviews from borababe and a few other angry people. They have also given other local spas negative reviews. Perhaps they are just negative, unhappy people and need to look to themselves, not a day spa for healing.
- Pros: Relaxing, calm, years of experience
- Cons: None.
