I love their cheese burger on french bread!! I've never had bad food there! It doesn't matter if it's lunch or dinner they are always packed! It is small and you are pretty much sitting on top of your neighbors, but the foods worth it!

Pros: Best burgers in town!

Cons: Parking

first of all-i'm never one to complain but they really need new tables/chairs. it's way to crammed for more than 2 people and even that's pushing it. with that said, i've never really had a beef with this place (no pun intended) until what happened the other day. Warning--what you are about to read is beyond disgusting and the incident was totally unacceptable... So, if you don't want to lose your lunch or if you don't want to lose your appetite, i would suggested not reading any further. the customer, who had ordered a salad, found a --and i quote--- "narly, nasty, big toenail" in his salad!!!!!!!! Yes, you read that right!!!! A toenail IN his salad!!!!!! He almost ate it. He complained-of course-and the manager confirmed that it was indeed a toenail, apologized and offered him a free malt. I assume the salad was free...??? R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!!! I will never ever ever eat there again unless they revamp and get a 100 health score!

I've been going to Rotier's for over 20 years and I cannot think of a better all-around cheesburger in Nashville. Not because they put some "secret sauce" on it or have some magic seasoning or they weigh 2 lbs, but because they are perfect in their simplicity. They use excellent ingredients (good ground beef, quality american cheese, great pickles, etc.) and cook them perfectly. The most popular choice seems to be the cheesburger on French bread, but my personal favorite is the grilled cheesburger (the bread is grilled white bread slices) just because I don't want all the extra bread. I honestly don't understand some of these reviews, these people complaining that there's nothing special about the burgers. Well, all I can say is that if you want a big, gimmicky, chain cheeseburger, go to Fuddrucker's at 21st and West End.....Oh wait, I forgot, they WENT OUT OF BUSINESS!!

Pros: Great food, family owned and operated, good nostalgic ambience

Cons: None

What's WRONG with these people? Rotier's has a cheeseburger on french bread that is to DIE FOR!!! Others have told me that all the food at Rotier's is great but I can't get past this amazing burger. NO... there aren't any goofy sauces or "themed" burgers folks... this is a classic Nashville meat & three diner at it's best. And the service has always been great in the 15 years I've been going there. Once several years ago - back when they didn't take ATM or credit cards I didn't have any cash on me and the guy at the counter (one of the owners) just told me to stop back when I was in the neighborhood to pay. They treat you like you were family here and at times you'd swear Mom was back at the grill. Enjoy this fun spot!

Pros: Awesome Food, Cozy Atmosphere

Cons: Crowded when busy

I happened upon Rotier's while checking out Centennial Park during a weekend trip to Nashville. Rotier's is a very unassuming hole-in-the-wall kind of place that seems to be a favorite with the locals. I ordered the country ham plate with green beans, fried zucchini and corn bread. The corn bread was unlike anything I have had up north. Crusty on the outside with great corn flavor on the inside. While I was there a customer walked in and just ordered corn bread to go. I can see why! The ham and veggies did not disappoint and the little coke bottles were a neat touch. A thunderstorm struck while I was sitting at the counter, so the waitress gladly brewed up some fresh coffee for me to pass the time. The whole thing cost me under 10 bucks and I was stuffed and satisfied. These are the kinds of places I love to find when I travel and I was glad I found this one.

Pros: value, friendliness,

Cons: none

A great family owned resturant; been going there for 20 yrs. Mrs. Rotier's one of the nicest ladies you will meet. GREAT food.. Hamburgers; good vegetables; BEST Fried Pickels in the STATE, got my co-worker's hooked on those. Good milkshakes.

Ok, I am a hamburger aficionado originally from Shreveport, LA. When I moved to Nashville back in 2002 everyone said "you've gotta try Rotier's!--they have the best burgers anywhere." So I went. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a Dr. Pepper. First of all, the Dr. Pepper was served in a luke-warm can, which I thought was a little crude, but it is a dive restaurant, so I let it slide. Then the burger came. Even looking at it I could tell it was going to be a huge disappointment. The hamburger patty itself is about the same diameter as a breakfast sausage patty, but it is about an inch thick or so. Upon first tasting this burger I could tell that the meat had never been seasoned or marinated, and there was no distinguishing flavor or anything of note about it. It was also overcooked. On the burger was the obligatory tomato, pickle, lettuce, and mayonaise--no special sauce, no unique flavor, nothing. The fries were also a travesty. I can and do make better french fries at my house. Not to be outdone, however, I gave Rotier's a second and third chance, and my experience was the exact same every time. Please, Nashville, don't believe the hype. This place has nothing on Fat Moe's, Ted's, McCabe's Pub, or any decent chain restaurant in Nashville. I realize Rotier's is a "Nashville Tradition," but a tradition of mediocrity must be identified and put to an unceremonious end. Hopefully this article will help accomplish that. (also, Rotier's overcooks everything, especially their fried foods).

Pros: local mom and pop dive

Cons: overpriced and below average food, especially their burgers

I'm a huge burger and fries fan, so with all the reviews I had to try this place out. However I was really disappointed as the burger was marginally better than average, lacking the robust flavor I've had elsewhere. Likewise, the fries seemed rather generic--not bad but certainly not warranting of the acclaim I've ready about.. The food wasn't worth the price, and service wasn't all that great (waitress never offered to refill drinks, etc.). The atmosphere was nice, but from my experience, that's about it.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, decent selection

Cons: Burger and fries average at best, bad service, slightly pricy

I have tasted a lot of burgers in my day, including "Rotier's" but, if you can get past the uninvited little guests this place has and remember the nostalgia that comes with this old place has .... then it's great. I don't quite understand how it keeps getting voted #1 every year. I understand it very old but, no reason to be over run by these dirty creatures. There are companies to deal with that problem. I will not return there, I don't care how good the burgers are.

Pros: Nostaglic

Cons: Dirty
