GREAT PLACE
by CameronH18
I live in nashville and go to SATCO regulary. Everything there is amazing. The staff is extremely nice. Food is amazing. Cheese dip and chips to die for. Idk why people are dissing it. But if you try SATCO try Baja burrito in Berry Hill (100 oaks)
- Pros: EVERYTHING
- Cons: N/A
Very Good

This Satco is great, though I definitly prefer the one downtown. The door is so awkward because it opens into the line and you have to squeeze past everyone, though the food it still worth it. I just wish they had the same taco sauce that the downtown location has!
- Pros: Delicious Tacos
- Cons: Hard to park and very crowded
GOOD BUT THERE IS DEFINITELY ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT

My husband and I went to the San Antonio Taco Company after hearing rave reviews from many of our friends as well as here online. The food is in fact delicious but very different than the "typical" food you would get ordering at someplace like Camino Real. For example we both ordered fajitas. Most people around here think of fajitas coming out to them on a sizzling plate with tortillas. The SATC's fajitas were more like soft tacos. Very very tasty and unbelievably fresh but tacos nonetheless. As others have mentioned the SATC doesn't seem to abide by the slogan "service with a smile" they barely look at you when you hand them your order and seem kinda put out to be asked anything. My husband and I were sitting at one of the tables outside when two of the workers came over to the trash can that was right next to our table and began to take the trash out. EWWW. I know such things have to be done but would it really have mattered to wait a few minutes until we were done eating? Seeing steam rising off the garbage wasn't exactly appetizing. Overall the food was fantastic but if you are used to chain Mexican restaurants it will throw you a bit.
- Pros: Great patio area to dine alfresco. wonderful fresh food
- Cons: Not very friendly staff
Unpleasant Staff
by Ella25
While the food is good and the atmosphere even better the service here is really awful. The staff seem to be very inconvenienced by waiting on you. They act like your an idiot if you don't immediately know every nuance of their bizarre ordering system. After you muddle through ordering there is no eye contact or the slightest pleasantry at the food bar, in fact it's as if they are very annoyed you are there. Unfortunately I have had this experience every time I have been there and I am about to give up on the place. I wish the staff were as enjoyable as the food.
- Pros: food and patio
- Cons: service
Don't believe the hype...

SATCO made the "Where the Locals Eat 2006" list and has 4.5/5 stars at Citysearch. It's popular and cheap and has a nice patio. Sounds great, right? Well, there's one problem: THE FOOD STINKS. I'm not exaggerating, it is legitimately bad.
As someone who has eaten Tex-Mex in Texas and had Mexican food everywhere from Arizona to Rhode Island (!), I have to say that this place has some of the worst "Mexican" food this side of Taco Bell. I'm not an authenticity snob, either - you are better off eating fajitas at a chain restaurant like Chili's than eating at SATCO. Let me recap the problems:
1) The tortillas taste just plain bad. They have some kind of chemical aftertaste like soap or floor cleaner.
2) The "fajita" meat is unseasoned cube steak that tastes like it was boiled.
3) The beans taste like they came out of a tin can; heck, they taste a little like the can itself.
4) The rice was undercooked and had the consistency of damp cardboard. Or maybe particle board.
About the only positive was that the salsa tasted OK and nothing was actually spoiled or made me immediately sick. But this place has seriously bad food overall, and anybody looking for good Tex-Mex should look elsewhere. I'm guessing it's getting high reviews from college students who think it's a cool hangout because of the cheap beer and the patio.
- Pros: Cheap beer, nice patio.
- Cons: Food is simply bad.
Simply Fantastic Tex-Mex and Atmosphere
by STLeats
I brought some out-of-towers to this place for a nice relaxing dinner before a night of boozing. Simply put, I could not have pictured a better place than this. We ordered up a bucket of beer, a little food, and posted up beneath one of the heaters out on the porch. It was about a 45 degree night and I was completely comfortable out there. Needless to say, as we guzzled down the bucket of beers, we continued to make frequent trips up to the counter for another taco, or fajita, or chips. Great food + cheap prices + fantastic atmosphere = fantastic restaurant.

This place is one of the 5 best quick-eat restaurants I have found in Nashville thus far. The food is great, and it's definitely a great place to go for lunch, or even after work for a bucket of beer, and hanging out on the porch under the lights.
- Pros: Great Food, Prompt, Always somewhere to sit, good music.
- Cons: Sometimes a bit busy, and then there's the line...
SATCO is a great experience

SATCO - you get what you pay for...and more. The food is inexpensive and tastes good *for what you are paying for it*, they are not trying to serve gourmet tex-mex food, they are a college dive hangout across the street from campus. What you *really* get is the opportunity to sit outside on big deck, enjoy the atmosphere, drink beer, talk with friends, people-watch, enjoy some pretty decent mexican food and just soak in the experience. Go there, order up some food, try a burrito or two, order a bucket of beer and then go find a table outside and sit down, eat your food, drink your beer and you will find it impossible to not have a great time.
- Pros: great atmosphere, cold beer, decent food, wonderful outside deck during day or night
- Cons: there are other places you could go to get better mexican food.
Avoid if you want good food and service.

This is not a stop on my recommended tour of Nashville. The food is sadly prepared and the staff could care less about what you want. Their attitudes were dismissive and they seemed like it was a chore when it took me longer than 5 seconds to order. The only thing that was good was the cold beer; thank god they have working appliances!
If you want to eat some good taco's or get a tasty burrito that is worth your time and money, then try Baja Burrito or La Hacienda (check out the 60 oz. margaritas). These are the best two mexican places in town.
- Pros: Cold beer and good patio
- Cons: Service, food, food, food.
