As visitors to Nashville, we found the parking situation throughout the city extremely frustrating. We were doing a geocache (high-tech treasure hunting with a GPS - check it out on the internet as this review will not let me type the website) 50 yards from the restaurant. There was no other parking, so we parked there for the 10 minutes it took to find the cache. Much to our surprise, upon our return my car was gone. It seems the restaurant owners called the tow company immediately after we parked and left the park. They did not take into consideration that the restaurant was CLOSED and we had out-of-town license plates. I am proud to say that in Kansas, as a visitor you will receive a polite notice on your car should you park in an incorrect place. (Assuming you have not parked in a handicapped spot or fire lane.) The employees of the Sitar restaurant should be ashamed for not only giving two visitors to your city a poor opinion of its citizens, but more importantly sitting watch of their precious lot because of a mere dispute with the medical center next door. Please keep this in mind when you choose your next dining location. I would not encourage this sort of rude, inconsiderate behavior!

When my friend and I arrived a bit after 5pm on a friday night (they had just reopened for dinner time) we were seated right away and the server even let us choose any table we wanted (I thought that was nice). Server was very friendly and answered questions I had about the menu. Food was good but the rice looked and tasted a bit old. Since I am a slow eater and the restaurant was filling up and we were sitting on a 4 people table, we were never rushed or anything. The check arrived without us asking for it and I was wondering what if I wanted dessert? Also, we wanted to split the check but that was fine.

These people were just trying to fool the Non-Indians by mis-using the "INDIA" name. The food they are selling there is no where near what we used to get from the restaurants in India. For example, we ordered Biriyani yesterday, which they made by just mixing some rice and some chicken curry - thats not Biriyani. They should have named it Curry mixed in Rice or something like that. And we made a mistake by ordering something spicy - I got the dish which was topped by some raw chilli powder - thats not the way to make something spicy, right? And the service was horrible. Those people dont give any attention to any one.
Pros: Very Few Indian Restaurant
Cons: Bad Service,Bad Food

I've eaten at Sitar about a dozen times in the last 18 months. I've had shoddy service twice in that time (one lost order and one long wait for food in a large group on a weekend night). If you are polite, you will get great table service (water refills every few minutes). I've seen rude service to other customers who, frankly, were rude in the first place. The buffet is a little overrated, but the cost ($7) is an amazing value and allowed me to try some vegetarian dishes I would have otherwise not tried. The papadum and naan are amazing and I have not had any dishes that I would not recommend (Chana Sag [hearty dish with spinach and chickpeas] is my all-time favorite). Expect to pay about $30 with tip for 2 people for dinner.
Pros: value, variety of food for different tastes, great taste
Cons: inconsistent service

I love Sitar and have yet to eat at a better Indian restaurant in Nashville. Have been going there for almost five years, but unfortunately the service does not match the quality of the food. I am not the type of person who needs to be checked on five times during a meal, or chatted with -- which is lucky or I wouldn't be able to go here anymore -- but unfortunately there have been a handful of times when the server did not even perform his basic function of getting the order in and the food to the table in a timely fashion. If you are not prepared for the possibility of having to wait or put up with spotty service, go for lunch instead.
Pros: delicious food, water glass is usually kept full at least
Cons: occasionally rude and perfunctory service

The food is absolutely delicious and you can order it as spicy or as mild as you want. Nearly everything on menu is worth trying at least once. You may have to wait a little while for your food because the Sitar is usually busy, especially around dinnertime on Fridays and Saturdays. The servers are attentive and polite. I highly recommend trying the Sitar if you are a fan of Indian food.
Pros: Great Food and Good Service
Cons: Small parking area

When we arrived we had to wait to be seated...then we had to wait to order...then we had to wait for drinks...and then we really had to wait to get our food. it was about 45 minutes for the food. later we had to wait for the check...it never came so we waited at the counter. the waiter obviously didn't feel like talking--or checking in on us, or pretty much anything. people just threw down plates on our table or dumped some water and ran. the food was average...not worth putting up with the slow and dis-interested service. there are alot of other indian places in nashville. i suggest you try something else, especially if you think you may have questions about what to order or how food is prepared.

The food is ok. But there is no friendly service. If we ask for a catering... he thinks that we are begging him to cater. That is not good for business. Even tough they are here for a while.. they don't know how to behave. Go for only food. Not for friendly service.

In recent times I have not been a strong fan of eating at "Indian" restaurants, sine the service or the food seem to always fail. At last a place that has food with flavor, and service too! Highly recommend trying this one!!!
Pros: FOOD!!!
Cons: A little hard to find!

Have been going to the Sitar for last 6 years - love the food. Last Saturday went to the Cuisine of India for a change on someones recommendation - big mistake. Not a patch on the Sitar. We have not once had a bad experience here. When friends visit we always take them to the Sitar for a meal and all of them have loved the food.
