our visit to Goten was a fabulous experience. it was my son's birthday and he says he wants to go there every year. we had a large group from babies to elderly and everyone left happy. i had sushi but others eating hibachi loved it.
- Pros: free valet, great sushi, strong drinks
- Cons: had to wait for table

This is my favorite hibachi restaurant in Nashville. The service is amazing and the chefs are really interactive and entertaining. The food is amazing, especially the rice and sauces. They offer a regular style meal in another part of the restaurant. This is a great place for parties or even dates!
Super disappointed!

I LOVE Japanese steakhouses and we'd earned a night out! We'd heard so many good things about Goten and I was super excited. I left the restauraunt heartbroken. The service was good, but the food was subpar at best. The salad dressing was nowhere as good as everyone elses, The dipping sauces were not tasty in the least, the rice was bland...I'd rather go to a chinese buffet...
- Pros: The place is pretty, people come in looking nice. Really feels like something special.
- Cons: The food is gross.
Great sushi, good service

This was hands down my best dining experience in Nashville. The service was good and the waitress made sure to take care of us. The sashimi was excellent. Rolls tasted fresh and the wasabi portions with the rolls and sashimi were generous thankfully. Plates were brought out timely and beers did not get completely empty before the next one was brought. Type of service and quality of food I am accustomed to in Houston. Good job!
- Pros: food, service, prices
- Cons: college kids
overpriced, not entertaining

We have been to many japanese style steak houses and this one was the worst. The chef at the table while friendly was not entertaining at all. We also watched the chef at the next table and he was not entertaining either. They served ketchup as the condiment for the steak and some oily concoction for the shrimp. Plus the filet was cut very small and overcooked. The shrimp appetizer was not seasoned and the veggies were boring as well. The sushi, however, was very good and fast. It was $120 for 3 people and no alcohol! I will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. the chain Japanese steakhouse Benihana is better than Goten.
- Pros: sushi fast and good, valet service friendly
- Cons: Hibachi experience not good, ketchup served for the steak, felt rushed
Avoid at all cost

Have been going there for year and have enjoyed it as fresh sushi as one can get in Nashville with good Hibachi though perhaps a bit overpriced. Tonight, thought my 2 year old might enjoy the Hibachi Grill. She was startled by the brief fire at the beginning and cried for about 15 seconds(honest) then stopped. No big deal right? WRONG. The manager had the nerve to approach my wife, and ask her to take my child outside. I was absolutely shocked and told her if someone actually voiced a complaint within 15 seconds including the time it took her to walk over, then i'd like to know about it. She replied that she had kids too and was just giving me a "heads up!". "Heads up?!" in case what I wondered? I'm an Asian professional who has been eating at Japanese restaurants for years and have never been treated so rudely and inappropriately. A manager should never have the right to tell a parent what to do with their child. Hibachi grills are noisy by nature, they have child seats for crying out loud! Gimme a break, this is supposed to be a family-friendly restaurant. If it had gone on for more than a minute we certainly would have taken her out, because that's what parents do, not because we were ordered by an idiot. Well, we didn't get that chance and didn't get up except to complain later. In summary, would strongly recommend against this restaurant for any parent who might have kids with vocal cords. We'll be contacting ownership about this one. Hopefully, this is an isolated event from a manager that needs to be "educated" herself. Feel sorry for her kids.
F/u - spoke with the owner who apologized and stated that his restaurant is family-friendly and that he would talk to the manager to make sure this was an isolated event and kindly offered us a chance to go back. Seemed sincere enough and perhaps we'll try it again down the road.
- Pros: Good Hibachi Quality w/generous portions, relatively fresh sushi
- Cons: Rude management. Not good for children with vocal cords.
Less than meduim quality for the price. If your not in a group to entertain yourself forget it.

We were rather disappointed with the Goten experience. I usually give places 3 chances to make a good impression but 2 is all I could handle of Goten. I travel and make a point to check out japanese steak houses everywhere I go. I have been to over 30 different ones in my travels. At Goten the quality and quantity was not there. The meat was tough and the seafood tasted old which upset my guest and my gut. The value does not exist here.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: everything else
DO NOT GO!

I would not recommend Goten and all the splendor they have pumped themselves up to be. I dined there for an afternoon lunch, hence I needed to get in and get out. First, the waitress was very snappy and seemed very impatient. I was a little confused because I thought taking orders fell into her job scope. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and requested broccoli instead of rice ( doing the low carb thing). They served me the green tea, soup and salad....that was fine. Then, they brought out my main dish with rice no broccoli. The lady that took my order came over and confirmed what I wanted....so I was a little confused on why it was wrong in the first place. Then, they brought it back correct but the chicken teriyaki was cold. I asked if it could be hot(silly me) and I got a puzzling look and a "hold on" let me check. She came back said they could warm it up in the skillet but would not re-cook it and would not refund. Not sure why this was the first thing she said....maybe she was programmed. At this point, I was already late and starving. So, I stated "okay" and they slightly warmed it up, brought it back along with the check ( no discounts or apology). I politely paid and left. Customer service is definitely a thing of the past.........DON'T GO TO GOTEN! Thank you:)
- Pros: No Pros
- Cons: Poor customer service and poor presentation overall
I'll go-back to go-ten

A little pricey, but worth it. Really good service. This is one of the better hibachi sites in Nashville. Sushi is not bad, but I liked the hibachi better. Overall, a pretty good dining experience. We'll be back for sure.
- Pros: Good service, nice ambience, good food
- Cons: a little pricey
