My clients were staying at the Nashville Loews Hotel. Several of the staff suggested Midtown as a great place to relax and have a great experience of local casual fine dining. We made reservations and were offered a shuttle ride to the Cafe, but we decided to walk after we learned it was only 2 blocks. The hostess seated us upon arrival. Our server who had been there for several years guided us through the numerous wines by the glass and bottle offerings. We ordered wine and martinis, a house specialty they claimed. They were right! We sampled their signature crabcakes, lemon artichoke soup and two specials of the evening. The room was sleek and comfy with couples and a larger group in the room by the bar. We ordered from the tasting menu as well as I had the trio of veal. Caesar salad was great. Brulee was shared. Everyone was smiling and happy as we walked back. Friendly and not pushy service was appreciated. I will go back.
Pros: Great food and servicce

My husband and I decided to visit Midtown for our 1 year anniversary. We've been to Sunset Grill before and loved it, so we decided that since Midtown is their sister company, it must also be good.... at best it's just fine. We got there and the greeter was very nice, even knew that it was our anniversary, and gave us a good seat in the back. The waitress was nice, of course, but not knowledgeable of the menu. I suppose we are a little spoiled, having visited Napa Valley on our honeymoon *which you MUST GO if you've never been - it has the best food, the best service, and the best wine!* Anyway, the food is very overpriced for the quality. We did not see any appetizers that sounded good, so my husband decided to get the pork tenderloin and I settled on the scallops. Wow - I can't stress enough how BAD the tenderloin was. It tasted like propane and carbon. It was really awful and we didn't feel the least bad about sending it back. We ended up sharing my scallops, which you only get 4 for about $30 with (I kid you not) my 9 year old sister's maccaroni and white cheese with really dry pieces of lobster in it. But we ate it. Didn't stay for desert. The best thing about the meal? The 2 glasses of Erath Oregon Pinot. Sorry Midtown, you were a HUGE disappointment.
Pros: Nice greeter / Valet parking
Cons: Food / Server Knowledge

My husband, myself, and one other couple had an early dinner at The Midtown Cafe before attending a concert at the Ryman. Upon being seated we informed the waitress what time we needed to leave to be at our show. My husband was very concerned about the traffic and limited parking as there were several other events going on downtown that evening. Our waitress brought our drinks and said that she had taken the liberty of checking to see if one of the "shuttles" would be able to take us to our concert as well as pick us up, she assured us that it would be their pleasure to get us to the concert and back. We were all suprised and thrilled that this young lady took the time to arrange our transportation for us, it made the great food and positive atmosphere that much more enjoyable. We were able to sqeeze in dessert and had just finished our coffee when the hostess informed us that the shuttle was ready. I think this is a great service and we couldn't have been more pleased with the evening.
Pros: service, atmosphere, valet

I love food. I've been to this resturant in the past for a work lunch. I had lamb chops and they were fantastic! This was about four years ago. A few weeks ago, I was craving lamb and remebered the resturant, this time spending my own money (keyphrase: my own money). Needless to say, I was quite disappointed. When I ordered the lamb chops, I emphasized that I wanted them WELL. The server mentioned the butternut squash, which on the menu said that mashed potatoes were included. I'm not a fan of the squash and expressed that. She talked me into trying them, saying that the mashed potatoes and the squash were mixed together (odd, but I'd try it). I get my meal. Not only were the lamb chops medium instead of well, the squash did not come with the mashed potatoes and they tasted like they had freezer burn. This $30 plate also had an over vinegarized small "salad" that was discusting. Of course, I asked for the mashed potatoes, which were good, not exceptional. It turns out the menu had not been updated and someone in the kitchen may have previously been a short order cook. There was no one else in the resturant but me and one other table at this time (I got there right at opening on a Sunday), I don't understand why my food had to be rushed and due to the fact that it was $30 before taxes and tips; I don't understand why I was fed the improperly cooked meat and the freezer burned vegetables. At that price, I'd expect for it to be fresh and right the first time. This wasn't how I remembered. Then again, the first time I didn't pay myself, so I could have overlooked the mistakes.
Pros: Valet, Service, Ambience
Cons: Food

I frequent Midtown Cafe evey few months for lunch. I always get something different but I start with the artichoke soup. I used to think it is the best in town until I had the artichoke soup at Bridges in Belle Meade. Wow! It is excellent. I will still go to Mid Town every now & then with the gals. But when I want artichoke soup I am going to Bridges. By the way it is less expensive than Midtown Cafe.

This place is fabulous. My fiance and I dined there two weeks ago and we're STILL talking about it. The server was fantastic! The food was to die for! I suspect that Midtown Cafe offers the best fare in Nashville. Dine there and enjoy yourself.
Pros: delicious food, excellent service
Cons: small... but romantic. i suggest making a reservation

Loved It. My wife and I made reservations and could not wait to get there. We arrived five minutes before our reservations and the place was packed, we waited in the bar for about ten minutes and then we were sat. Greg our waiter was the GREATEST, he was on top of every thing. The WineList is wonderful, and the CRABCAKES are nothing short of perfect. We will be going back soon.
Pros: Valet, Greg, Food, Wine List, The Cute Little Bar
Cons: None

I read a couple of good reviews about this Tricia person and also about the restaurant. Took my date for dinner tonite; our first formal date. It was a great experience. The food was great especially the bread and Tricia happened to be our waitress. I didn't know the name until after i got home and saw my receipt. I even asked her about who Tricia was and she said it was her! She was absolutely the best waitress ( excusez moi if i am using the wrong term) I have ever had or met. She was very pleasant with us and was just wonderful. Her recommendations about the food was perfect and we had a great evening. Thanks Tricia! I'd go there again just for her :)
Pros: Fantastic service. Tricia was wonderful.
Cons: The lemon artichoke soup was a little too tangy for me but my date loved it.
