Excellent Food, Ambiance and Most Memorable Meeting in Nashville
by IMVicki1
We recently had a corporate meeting at the Union Station Hotel for about 55 and they could not have been more accomodating and the food was excellent. The rooms have been recently remodeled in contemporary colors and the beds are so comfy. Not many hotels have the ambiance and include fireplaces in the meeting rooms. You might even be visited by one of the hotel "spirits" that frequent the place....they aren't destructive but they make their presence known, to be sure.
If you are looking for a real "experience" and a very memorable meeting, the Union Station Hotel is for you.
- Pros: Ambiance, Service, Food, Meeting Space
- Cons: Parking
Comfortable, luxurious room
by Barkingkitty
My husband and I patronized the hotel in August and had an extremely pleasant stay. The king-sized bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever been in, with the soft, high-thread count sheets and fluffiest comforter imaginable. The room was clean and sparsely decorated, comfortable and quiet. We were on the 7th floor in the front, and were pleasantly surprised at how quiet the place was, yet enjoyed our view of Broadway at night. The bathroom was large and very clean, with marble floors and spacious sink areas. It would be a tight squeeze in the potty for someone of large stature, as the toilet was nestled between the window and a wall, but it was fine for us.
Very close to all areas of interest downtown, but parking leaves a lot to be desired, which is, sadly, not unexpected in downtown Nashville. We woke up too late to take advantage of the brunch that was offered, but plan to experience it next time we return. All in all, a beautiful hotel, with beautifully renovated non-smoking rooms that allowed us to indulge in comfort and privacy. Other than the parking, we had absolutely no complaints, and look forward to returning again next summer.
- Pros: Most comfortable bedding I've seen - and I'm very picky!
- Cons: Horrendous parking
Loved this for my wedding reception!
by emily76
My wedding party loved this hotel. We had an amazing reception here, and the honeymoon as well. Loved the food! The ambiance was just perfect and the service for our wedding reception was so perfect. I highly recommend this hotel for your wedding, reception, honeymoon. Treat yourself!
- Pros: beautiful hotel & excellent staff
- Cons: parking
Absolutely Beautiful!
by kd43259
I recently had my wedding at Union Station hotel and the staff did an outstanding job! They were initially very difficult to work with, but pulled through in the end. Every detail was exactly as we had planned it was even nicer than we had expected. The food was not only great tasting but the presentation was beautiful as well. Their post-renovation room are small but beautiful. They are very modern and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone for not only meetings/receptions but also as a place to stay.
- Pros: Breathtakingly beautiful, historic
- Cons: Expensive
Go to visit, not to stay
by jnjmcl
My wife and I had our wedding reception there and it was great. It's hard to beat the feel of the place when you walk in and see what used to be a central train station.
As far as a hotel though, I would not recommend staying there. The rooms are not very comfortable and that is the most important thing in my mind when choosing a place to stay. It's a very cool place to visit, but I'd rather spend my money somewhere else for a room.
- Pros: Facilities, Hotel layout
- Cons: Rooms
Trying to get wedding info
by amsd2dth
My mother and I went in one day to gather information about having my wedding there. I'd heard good things in the past. We didn't realize we needed to make an appointment, so the woman was busy when we got there. She handed us a 'packet' of information and suggested we make an appointment, which we did. The 'packet' only had a ton of menu information and prices.
We came back today for our 4:00 appointment and when she came out, she informed us that there was a reception going on and she would just have time for a few questions. My mother and I looked at each other, a little startled that we were being blown off after making the requisite appointment. She sat us in the (closed) bar (as in, not open for business and dark inside, doors still closed). We watched as she directed the reception.
45 minutes later we walked out. She didn't make any attempt to stop us or apologize, just nodded. It's a beautiful setting, but if that's the kind of service and organization I would have to look forward to, I'm glad I had this experience early on. Time to find a new venue...
- Pros: Beautiful
- Cons: Event planner unorganized and harried
Unique place to stay!
by aklambert
Just returned from a weekend trip and enjoyed our stay at Union Station very much. One note - do not accept a smoking room thinking it won't be that bad - it will be! Thankfully, when we requested a better room for our second night, we were accommodated in the best way! The rooms will be renovated soon, so we look forward to going back to see how much nicer they are when that's done. As is, the bed was very plush and comfy, the soaring ceilings on the 5th floor were awesome, and the overall architecture stunning! If you're looking for something a little different - this is the place.
- Pros: Great rates, Unique architecture, Comfy bed
- Cons: No pool, Expensive parking
Historic former train station near Vanderbilt offers luxurious suites that are leagues beyond a sleeper car.

In Short
This landmark Romanesque Revival structure is located about five blocks from the heart of downtown. Many features of the elegant old terminal remain today, including a track schedule written on a slate board hanging behind the registration desk. The rooms surround the three-level lobby, with most opening to the public space and all having excellent panoramic views from the windows. Tourists and visiting celebrities--and train enthusiasts--make up most of the clientele.
loud and old
by mikeyi
the trains are bad enough, but it is on train tracks...It is however unacceptable to hear everything going on in the hall (from the 1 inch gap under the door) and from the rooms next to and above you. There were wires everywhere (phone, lamps, cable, internet). We came for "classic" and all we got was old bathrooms, old furniture, old carpet, old wall paper, old drapes - but new Aeron chair!
- Pros: food
- Cons: LOUD, aged rooms, expensive
Not an awesome hotel, but a good value
by portia
I just returned from a stay here. The lobby and Arthur's (the upscale restaurant) are stunning, the staff was helpful & friendly, room furnishings are attractive, convenient downtown location plus a free shuttle service which will deliver/pick you up anywhere within a 2-3 mile radius.
This is, however, a place which seems to be operating on a shoestring budget: several large stains on my room's carpet, woodwork & hallway wallpaper was scuffed, no newstand/sundries shop or exercise facility, the small housekeeping staff meant my room wasn't attended to until late afternoon each day.
Take note that this *is* alongside a freight trainyard: while the noise was far less than you might think, light sleepers will want a room on the front side. The upper-story rooms (which I believe are all non-smoking) are nicer than those on the first 3 floors which are off the lobby and below it.
- Pros: location, good value, unique architecture
- Cons: , a bit "tired" or worn
