dont get me wrong, i love the beer selection. i love playing pool. i love playing foose ball and smoking cigarettes. but i also enjoying doing all these things while listening to good music. and by good i mean decent when im out since i cant actually choose what im listening to. well, the last two times ive been at the beer seller....the music has been absolutely terrible. considering i was drinking, while playing pool and was still able to notice how obnoxious the music was means something. i heard the same 3 doors down song three times in two hours. i also heard ashlee simpson (lame) (especially when played at a bar like the beer sellar) and the same pink floyd song at least twice (which is fine, when played...once). im just saying that something should be done about the music in the place. i expect to hear something good when i go to a bar like the beer seller and instead the music was worse than the stuff played on the radio. everything was on repeat.
Pros: beer selection, pool tables
Cons: no crowd, worst music selection ever, tool bag central

Was in town for a conference the hotel clerk reccommended the beer sellar as a decent place to go for a very large selection of beers and not just another tourist bar. He was absolutely right. THe beer selection was vast. The locals were friendly, only to be out done by the staff. I dont remember the waitresses name (probably due to the great service and my beer never being empty) but she was tall and beautiful and took the time to indulge me by having my picture taken with her ( I know very touristy but she was beautiful). I will definetly go back the next time I am in Nashville. did I mention the cold beer and the beautiful waitress.

To the musician, I was there, and you sucked. Seriously, if you want to be a real musician walk in there and truly represent YOURSELF. They do not need to announce you. Thanks for leaving before I shoved you over.
Pros: Booze
Cons: Accordion player

The staff is very fun and intelligent, and the selection cannot be beat. I recommend trying the German brews.

I absolutely love this place. My wife and I visit annually during CMA Music Fest (due to the birth of our child we won't make it in '07, but we'll be back!) and spend many hours here during our visit. Phenomenal beer selection, completely unpretentious atmosphere, fantastic jukebox and a great staff make this place a home run. It's also a great place to escape all the tourists packed into the honky-tonks on Broadway. You'll meet the coolest people at the Sellar...I wish they could pack it up and move it to NYC!
Pros: Location, staff, beer selection
Cons: None whatsoever

I was hired by the manager of the Beer Sellar to play bagpipe music for St. Patricks Day. I was told to come and they would have a place for me to play and I was to play for 1 hour, between 10-11 pm. The trip there was very difficult and they were hard to find. I was immediately met by several very rude customers who promptly stole my tip box, which was ok, because the manager did not have an official place set up for me to play, and did not announce my arrival in any form or fashion. I asked for a place to tune and was told that I would have to stand in the kitchen, which was impossible. I was shoved and cursed at, and assaulted by several customers who threw small sharp objects at me, hitting me in the head. I attempted to play, but within 10 minutes, the stereo was turned up so loud that I could not be heard. I asked the duty manager what he wanted me to do, to which he responded, "I don't have time for this, just go home" I asked for my payment, which was refused, even though I had fulfilled my contract. The excuse was that I needed an invoice, which I have NEVER had to have anywhere, and which was NEVER mentioned by the management beforehand. I attempted to explain to the gentleman that I was in need of full payment immediately to which he responded, " I don't have time to mess with you right now, you will have to wait 2 days before you will be able to even discuss payment with someone who might possibly be able to pay you. I was treated in a very unprofessional and rude fashion. Warning to the wise amongst musicians, be wary of who you accept gigs from, and always make sure payment is forthcoming. Addendum: On 3-18-2007, the manager did finally pay me for my time and added an extra amount for my trouble, and offered an apology. While this does not completely excuse the actions of the night manager and the situation of the night before, I am satisfied that the most of what happened was a misunderstanding. I will work for them again.
Pros: none
Cons: all

This is the place our crew usually camps out on second Ave. I am not interested in trying new beers, so I could are less about how many beers they have on tap. I like it because it is the only place on second avenue that is not a tourist trap. On a weekend night, it is usually crowded and the service is slow, but the people that work there are really cool, so it makes up for it. Also beware, there is not much sitting room. If you decide to go downtown bar hopping, this is a great place to start!

I've been coming to the Sellar since I moved to Nashville four years ago. The staff is an amazing group of people and always make me feel welcome. There are the hard core regulars, like myself, but then you mix in the tourists and a few of the college crowd and you have a great night. Yeah some ppl have a problem with parking, but hey it's downtown what do you expect, even it out by drinking 2-for1.
Pros: great bar staff, 2-for-1

If you don't mind crowds and smoke and lemming-like masses of twenty-somethings you will like this bar. This bar is one of those places that you will probably like at some time during the week - even if you don't like everything about it all the time. It is a MUST for including on any Pub Crawl. (In fact, 2nd Avenue is all down hill from here - literally - so it is a good place to start. It needs to be expanded. It is about one fifth the size of the Beer Seller on the river in Cincinnati. (yes, there are OTHERS) That makes it almost impossible to get service on crowded nights. But hey, the staff is friendly, they just don't have a very good system for coping with crowds.
Pros: twenty-somethings, reasonable prices, friendly staff
Cons: , smoke, hard to get service

This was by far the most enjoyable place I've been to in Nashville. The staff and crowd were great and I can't begin to say how good the selection is. Next time I'm in Nashville this is the place I'll be.
Pros: Selection, Staff, Atmosphere
