The rudest staff I have ever encountered

by doremifaso

My husband and I had eaten here a couple of years ago on a visit to Nashville and had a great meal. When we were back in town recently, a group of us went there for drinks on a Saturday night. The tables in the front side room were filthy, so one of the people we were with had to use napkins and water from a leftover water pitcher to clean off the tables. When I went to ask one of the bartenders if someone could help us clean off the tables, she was very rude to me. She was also very rude to my husband, who had just ordered two pitchers and was trying to get some extra glasses to accommodate everyone (the glasses, by the way, were still wet--yuck). When I went to ask to speak to the manager, two other bartendresses were also very rude to me. When I finally located the manager, I told her about our situation and said that we would like to come back the next time we come to Nashville, but wouldn't if we were continued to be treated the way the waitstaff was treating us. "Don't worry about it", she said, "we probably won't be here the next time you come here anyway". I don't know if she was talking about the waitstaff or the restaurant itself, but I hope she's right on both counts. This place is an abomination.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: extremely rude staff, extremely poor service

Terrible

by unitrin

They don't brew beer, and the food was absolutely terrible. I spent - no I wasted - $22 on two beers from some other place and four fish sticks.

Don't go!!!

A good place for pregame brews or a business lunch with the boss.

In Short
Thanks to the on-site brewing equipment, Market Street has the aroma of fresh beer. The atmosphere in the dark-wood room and the sunroom that overlooks the river is relaxed and pub-like. There's a full bar and regulars claim the bartenders make the best martinis in town. A mixture of traditional English pub fare, such as fish-and-chips and shepherd's pie, shares the menu with American standbys and Southern specialties.

Tuesday Night Ribs Are Great

by paradoxzap

I am reluctant to share this great Tuesday Night Special as we like that it usually isn't too crowded. For 19 bucks two people can be completed satiated with the rack of ribs Tuesday Night special. As a local downtown resident this has become one of our favorite dining routines. The portions are HUGE and the ribs are tender and flavorful. The beer selection is good as they no longer sell micro brews as older reviews indicate. We opt to order the pub chips instead of the french fries. The service is average and the ambience is more suited for adults. We will continue to be "regulars"!

by spth005a

I took a group here for dinner. We had a set dinner menu the food was very heavy. The drinks were good and the service was great. Don't plan to eat here any time soon.

  • Pros: lots of food, location, service
  • Cons: unhealthy food, cob webbs

not good

by saltylizard

a group ate here on 4/9/05. The service was not good, the soup was remarkable for it's complete lack of taste, although some compared it to dishwater. My burger was over done and cold. a pregnant lady was with our party and her food was last to arrive, demonstrating the wait-staff's lack of attention to detail, and when the bill arrived, it was $43 for a burger, a grilled chicken salad, two imported beers, tax and 18% gratuity, which is included for parties of 7 or more. Overall, my impression of Market Street is not good.

  • Pros: beautiful view
  • Cons: bad food, slow service, overpriced

Thank You

by momdebbie

When the rest of 2nd Ave. turned me away because they didn't want me taking up space because I was alone, you welcomed me with open arms and treated me like I had been coming there all my life. Service was prompt and the food was excellent. Again thanks for all you did. See you next vacation time.

A Word to the wise

by cobb443

The Options dont give this bar justice. The food is fair, but this is more of a bar than a restauraunt. If you like "Beer", you would dig this place. If you like a specific beer, your out of luck, cause this establishment only serves Market Street beers. It is sort of a hall really, with very little room to move around, unless you go into the dart room.

  • Pros: New Flavors of beer, Dart Room
  • Cons: Crowded Hallway, No Beer selection, Slow service

Very tasty!

by sunnybrook2000

Not sure about the beer, they only had 4 of about 14 available. The food however was awesome. The place wasn't very crowded when we were there so it was a really nice quiet experience. The moody blue chips are a must if you like blue cheese. We loved them. The croque monsieur was fabulous. It was the best sandwich we had while in Nashville.

lousy service

by gmreeves

Pretty tasty food but terrible service. The waiter did not write our order down and then acted as though it was our fault when it came out wrong. Also poor follow up service with drink refills, etc.

  • Pros: taste
  • Cons: service
