Horrible Restaurant, extremely EXPENSIVE !!!
by foodie Critic
I can't honestly think of anything positive to say about our dinning experience. The food was marginal, the wait staff was over bearing, the prices would double than any upscale restaurant in town. The portions were extremely small for the price you paid.
I believe the only business they are getting are from the local hotels, hint why the shuttle ride keeps being mentioned, it a tourist trap and it's also not good food for a VERY high price.
My husband and I do not drink but the drinks I saw were small and the bottles of wine were four times what you would expect from what the actual price is in a liquor store.
- Pros: Free Parking ** No star was really deserved**
- Cons: Location, portion sizes, price, quality, staff,

Inaccurate that are prices are double any upscale restaurant in town. You cannot find an upscale restaurant in town at half our price. We serve Prime beef at the same price that other nice steakhouses in the city are serving Choice Beef. Our portions are actually quite large. Our steaks range in size from 8oz-22oz. None are small. Not sure how someone that doesn't drink knows that drinks are small or the current price of wine.
Horrible Experience

We were looking forward to this restaurant for weeks. 3 couples, four people order Prime Rib. We have coctails, 2 bottles of wine, apps and another 45 minutes goes by only to have the waiter finally cpome out and say "Sorry we are out of Prime Rib" After a 10 minute conversation with the rudest reastaurant manager I have ever met. We pay or $300.00 bill for wine and Apps and are out of there. There are SO many great restaurants in Nashville, do not go here. Try Chappys, New Orleans Manor, any of a dozen real restaurants
- Pros: Shuttle
- Cons: Staff
$$$$$$$$$$$ and the food was marginal

My boyfriend and I went to Stockyard Restaurant last night to celebrate our 1 yr anniversary. What a mistake that dinning decision was for our wallet.
We started off in the bar, the cockatils were exceptional ordinary and very small pours. We looked over the wine list then relaized we could not afford any of the wines on the menu, we were expecting to pay $150.00 for dinner with a few drinks, boy were we wrong.
The filet's started out at $59.00 dollars, and they were small cuts not the correct oz size they claimed on the menu.
We split a salad we had (2) martini's we split a steak, and split a baked potato, and our final bill was $205.00 before tip. Drinks were $13.00 per martini, the side dishes were $10.00 and portions were single portions not big enough to share.
We left upset, broke and embarrassed the waiter kept making us feel like cheapscape at every turn. :-(
- Pros: they had a couch in the bathroom
- Cons: ALL P's - price - portions - pours

Inaccurate pricing. Our filet mignon start at $39 and sides are 5.95-8.95
EXPENSIVE priced Small Portions, cheesy waiters
by Pretty in Pink
This restaurant has become the blue hair early bird tourtist trap of Nashville. The service is an oversale, the ceiling fan in our room did not work and the restaurant was stuffy and only 1/3 full on a Saturday night. The bar was pathic, the drinks were mostly made incorrect and for $12.00 for a small martini I would expect sorta presenation with the drink or a twist of lemon or a sugar rim, something!
The portions were small not enough to share even the 16oz filet when split was about 5oz per person for $50.00. Everything was alacart. The side dishes were individual portions and not enough to share. The place is very dated, as is the knowledge of the staff. They were heavily pushing the wine @ $375.00 per bottle, all of the $60.00 bottles "they were out of" and the bottles I saw for $55 to $75.00 would retail in a location liquor store for $12.00 to $15.00 dollars, so their wine mark up is almost 200% of the actual cost. The average high in restaurant charges 50% mark up.
The had a $10.00 split plate charge, never mentioned till the bill came, the salads were small with additional goodies in them alike blue berries or pecans BUT the waiter failed to mentionan upcharge of $5.00 for the pecans and %5.00 for the strawberries, and $5.00 for blue cheese for by $9.00 salad was $22 dollars and it was a smal salad that would fit ona bread plate.
The pecan pie was a small sliver of pie they offered a jack daniels shot poured over it but failed to mention it was a $12.00 for (1) shot of JD and that the small sliver of pie was $9.00 and the ice cream scoop on top was small and cost $7.00 so I had a $28.00 piece of pecan pie. Better than my tiny glass of low end rent wine at $17.00 per glass.I
I left the Stockyard with my co-workers and vowled to never darken their doors unless it is free or a new restaurant with reasonable prices takes over. This place will leave you confused as to why you drove by so many award winning restaurants to get to this over rated disappointing Tourist Trapp.. BUYER BEWARE you have now been forwarned, $$$$$$$$$$$$ and small portions and simply just okay food.
- Pros: they may go out of business soon :-) I feel ripped off
- Cons: Cost vs. value, horrible bar drinks, old people everywhere

Inaccurate pricing. No mark up on berries or blue chees. Pecan pie is 6.95, not $9, Jack Daniels is 6.95, not $12 and ala mode is $3, not $9.
A Delightful Evening
by JOYCEAB
We enjoyed the occasion of our daughter's birthday but we could come more often if you served smaller portions and, thus, more reasonable prices.
- Pros: Delicious food, great service & great atmosphere
- Cons: too large portions, thus very expensive
Expensive (over priced food) the cocktails were $$$$$$$

My brother and I just left the Stockyard, and had we had the oportunity to have read these reviews we would not have made the effort to go. The decor is dated as is most of the staff. The food portions do not equal to the large sum you are expected to pay for the small petite meal you are about to be served.
Ordering a drink at The Stockyard is almost comical. All of the glasses are children sizes, you almost feel like you are in Alice in Wonderland.
The steaks start at $50.00 and go up to $90.00 everything is alacart, the side dishes are not big enough for you to share. The wine list has bottles that are 4 times the price you would expect to pay in a liquor store for the same.
My salad was small, my steak was small, my cockatil was small, the room we were in was small, but I was given a BIG BILL.
Dinner for 4 with (2) $9.00 glasses of wine per person (1) entree per person and (1) side dish per person, no salads = $612.81 so $150.00 dollars per person, the only problem is none of it was worth it. The service was pestering, never apologic, drink pours were skinny, and the over all experience was below average.
I wanted to call the metro polic and report a restaurant ponzi scheme, but I was worried to leave my car in that part of town over night.
E.X.P.E.N.S.I.V.E very................. make sure your credit card has plenty of availability before you order up your first $12.00 tiny martini.
- Pros: near the projects and close to the interstate and Jail
- Cons: over priced, small portions, drinks are a joke, literally.

Inaccurate pricing. Steaks start at $27.95 not $50 and we don't have a steak that costs $90
Had the shuttle just kept going to another restaurant!!
by Chef Grace
The food was double the price it should have been; given the portions we were served. My Husband and I went to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary. I personally have had banquet food that was better than what we were served.
The wine selections started at $90.00 and went to $500.00. Any wine that was reasonable "meaning $60.00 dollars" they were out of, or it was a $10.00 bottle of wine retail for $60.00 dollars $ times the retail price, what a rip off!
The food portions were very small, the food was cold, but the room was hot, the air was not working! All of the drinks were served in a children size glass, the only thing missing was the sippie cup lid.
I had rather eat at Mickie D's than this place, atleast when they say value meal.... it is. This place is over rated, over priced and over my wallet. I just feel financially ripped off.
Glad my marraige is going better than our dinning experience. My advise to all of you is to eat before you come and don't worry about getting a DUI you won't get enough liquor in your drink to qualify you.
- Pros: Near the count jail if you have anyone to visit
- Cons: cost vs. portion * terrible small drinks * No Value here

Inaccurate pricing. Our bottles of wine start at $44.
EXPENSIVE and so NOT worth it..... Rip Off that simple
by foodie for Nashville
My Mother and I had the misfortune of dinning at the Stockyard last Friday night. We cheked in at the front desk and then proceeded to the bar. The bar tender was unfriendly and not very knowledgeable. When we finally got our drinks (a dark and Stormy) which is lime juice and ginger beer with rum, the drinks were a whopping $16.00 per drink and they wre the smallest drinks I have ever scene, basically a small juice glass full of ice.
We decided we could not afford $31.00 dollars for (2) drinks and decided we would just have a bottle of wine for dinner with our meal. Well folks here comes the fun part. The food was so over priced, we decided to split an entree, of which they charged us $10.00 for a split plate charge. The 7oz filet was really a 3oz filet, everything was ala cart, which is fine but the creamed spinach was $9.00 and was about three table spoons!
The house salad was small enough to fit on an appetizer plate. The other side we ordered was a bake potato, which was small, cold and had one small dollop of butter and sour cream. The entire night was a disaster. We left there hungry, disappointed, and felt like Bernie Madoff was pulling the financial strings because we did NOT get what we paid for and felt almost ripped off.
The waiters make you feel cheap if you don't order the suggestions of the day, but who the heck would pay $45.00 for 3 scallops, and the wine list was four times what the actual wine cost in the liquor stores. Unless you have an endless check book, and you are also on a portion control diet I would strongly recommend you skip this tourtist trap and head to a real steak house like Sperry's, The Palms, Rith Chris, Flemings, even Logan Road House was better than this place.
Did I mention the place is located by the local Davidson County Jail, it is not a safe neighborhood, and personally I don't think my wallet was safe either. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
- Pros: That this place is NOT open for Lunch, run for the hills!!
- Cons: Small drinks, Small Portions, VERY Expensive,

Inaccurate account of menu. We don't carry any ginger beer so I'm not sure how they were able to order the drink they are claiming
Shuttle Ride was the only positive part of the night
by Mother knows Best
I am going to make this simple:
The drinks were small and the liquor was watered down, all ice no substance, (Betty Ford Bar) would have been a better choice for a drink.
The food was extremely over priced and ala cart, small portions
The portion sizes were over stated by 3 to 7 oz = big price and left hungry
The lobster was said to be 3 lbs it was really 1.5lbs and was $40.00 per lb = Bernie Madoff RIP OFF
I have had better food and service @ Nashville Bowling Alley or a vending machine, atleast there I felt like I got what I paid for. This place is a joke, the food portions are extremely small, the prices are 50% higher than any other steak house's in Nashville, the wine list is 4 to 5 times higher than what the actually wine cost, the wait staff sound like they are trying to sell you a time share, everything was "my favorite" or "absoultely the chef's choice" or "one of my favorites" it was all a big rip off, the drinks were tiny a martini was $12.00 and it was less than one gulp!
Unless you are asked to go there with someone and it is free for you....Do not bother to waste your time, oh did I mention the location is by the county jail, the projects and a bail bondsman office, need I say more!
- Pros: Shuttle Ride / pet's were not allowed
- Cons: Over priced Golden Corral food, tiny small drinks $$$$$

None of our weights on our steaks are inaccurate or overstated. We are not located near the projects.
Horrible Everything, Small Portions, over priced!! Run
by The Chef
The drinks were a rip off, the bartender was rude. The portions of the drinks were dispectable. The martini's were served in a extremely small glass, every glass was small. For $13.00 per drink there was no presenation to the drinks, my wife drink was wrong, and he charged us for it anyway even tho she sent it back. The scotch I ordered was $15.00 for dewars and was not as big as the drinks you get in an airport. We had one drink each and the tab was $30.00, but the drink sizes were the smallest I have ever scene.
Let's move to the horrible dinning experience, we had reservation but the table was not ready on time. When we finally got seated, the prices about shocked me. The steaks ranged from $40.00 for a 6 oz fiet to $70.00 for a 16 oz porterhouse. The steaks were small not what the claimed the portion size would be, the salads @ $9.00 to $12.00 were small enough to fit on the bread plate. The appetizers were small, and extremely over priced. Everything but the bread on the table was extra.
We left there feeling very ripped off, all of the wines started at $50.00 to $500.00 per bottle but the wine prices were 50% over what the true cost were. Several of the wines were wines that I was familiar with and they normally sell for $12.00 bottle at the liquor store were a whopping $65.00 dollars, every bottle we wanted to order that was $55.00 to $65.00 they were out of . The only stock they carried was $100.00 and up. Again what a ploy and what a rip off. FYI the TIP was pre added to the bill and not mentioned by the waiter.
This place is basically a tourist trap, the only people that go to The Stockyard would be people that have either NOT read the reviews, or tourtist that saw the advertisement in the airport. This place is overrated, expensive, poor quality portions, and in a bad part of town............. NEED I SAY MORE
- Pros: They were open, the fact I had to give them 1 star rating
- Cons: Small portions, extremely over priced, poor quality
