Don't even waste your money!!!!!!!

My family and I dined at Cherokee Steak House last weekend, and the food was absolutely horrible. There were 11 of us, and noone enjoyed their meal. Every single steak was not properly cooked, and we had to wait 90 minutes for a table. Honestly, for almost $300 you can get such a better meal. In the day, this was the only decent steakhouse in the area, but those days are gone. I wish they could get their quality back, but time after time we seem to be dissapointed. The restaurant is close by, and we always try to give it another shot, but we will not anymore. Also, there was a waitress that was very rude and you could tell she had no class the way she was speaking to a friend in the dining area. Do not waste your money.

• Pros: ok view, egg rolls when they used to have them
• Cons: bathrooms are awful, long wait, horrible food for the price, nasty food.

NOT THE BEST!!!!!!!

I dined at Cherokee Steak House last week, and was very pleased with the wait for we got right in. The service at Cherokee was remarkable, but the food was horrible! I ordered the pasta dish, and the noodles were obviously not fresh as well as the chicken was dry and tough. My husband always orders the filet along with lobster, but lobster was rubbery and steak was fatty. The couple with us had o.k. food, but said they will not be back, for the choices in the area are far better quality food for the price. Onion rings are out of this world, but that's about it.

Not very impressed.

My family and I recently ate dinner at Cherokee Steak House. The wait was almost 2 hours, and by the time we had sit down to order, the waitress proceeded to tell us they were out of 5 different items on the menu we always get. We overlooked the problem and ordered something else. The food wasn't warm when it arrived and steaks were overcooked. The waitress was very nice and discounted the bill even though we ate most of it. Service is excellent but they need to step it up when it comes to food quality for the price.

• Cons: Parking, not a good place for children.

Great Steaks!!!!

It has the best atmosphere!!! It is right on the lake, so bring your bread they have lots of hungry ducks. It is B.Y.O.B. That makes it great as well because you can have your favorite drink.

• Cons: parking is tricky

Nothing like a good steak and the feeling of being in a mid-'70s clubhouse dining room in Middle America.

The Scene
Neither pretentious nor homogenized, the Cherokee Steak House has been homey and friendly since the late '50s, and it still has that faux flagstone carpeting. On the banks of Old Hickory Lake, the property is also home to resort cabins from its heyday and a marina with ample dock space for boaters.

The Food
This beef is the stuff of legends, full of flavor and marbled to keep the cuts moist and tender. Fans of filet should order the 6-oz petite version. Although the Cherokee Chief cut is larger, it's a little too marinated in a worcestershire-type sauce. The 10-oz Queen New York Strip is also marinated but has a much more subtle flavor. One of the best bargains on the menu is the platter of sirloins that you can order for two, three or four. Cherokee also offers a tasty blackened catfish and grouper, as well as turf's partner, lobster tail.

So-so dining experience

Good salad and bread, okay steak, EXTREMELY long wait for a meal that was not worth the cost. I thought that the BYOB aspect was not good for a steakhouse. Good location but not worth waiting 2 hours for a table.

Steak on the Lake

The steaks are the best for the price. The view of Old Hickory Lake adds to the ambience. Drinks could not be more reasonable as it is BYOB. The sticky buns are out of this world. If you are a beefeater or like a great Country Ham Steak it is the place to go in the country.

A Great Nashville Tradition

This is absolutely my favorite place to eat in Nashville. The setting on the lake is incredible and the steaks are out of this world. I especially like the fact that there's none of the pretense that you get at some of the other Steakhouses like Ruths Kris or Morton's. It's just plain and simple great eating. My friends and I make it a point to go at least once a month. I recommend the filet and lobster. You can't go wrong.

• Pros: Relaxed Setting, Great Food, Excellent Service
• Cons: Sometimes a Wait

Middle of the Road

Several of us recently visited Cherokee restuarant for the 1st time via boats on Old Hickory lake. There was a 1 hour/45 minute wait for dine-in, therefore, we decided to place to-go orders and eat on the patio. We experienced very rude to-go service. However, the prices and atmosphere were good. The food was good, except all of our steaks were overdone. We will try it once more because of the boating/laking appeal. Hopefully the food and service for dine-in will be much better.

• Pros: Pricing, On the lake
• Cons: Crowded, Long Wait, Rude Service
