If you like Thai food, don't eat here.

If this food were pizza, it would be a soggy Domino.
Three of us went to the branch on 19th Ave. The food was under-spiced, some very over-salted and bore very little relationship to Thai food either here or in Thailand. We were not asked how hot we wanted our food nor offered sauces to spice it up.
Also the service was very slow.
- Cons: Insipid food
Only good Thai in Nashville!
by cclawson
This is the best Thai restaurant in Nashville that I have found. I have been to several and this is the only one that I would go back to. The Thai Iced Tea was great! I had the Thai Green Curry and it was perfect! This is the only Thai Restaurant in Nashville that I would recommend... Delicious!
Don't Waste Your Time!
by Jennipho
This is the worst Thai restaurant, not only does their food basically taste like something you can make yourself but better and cheaper, but so does their customer service!!! Not only did my boyfriend and I have to wait atleast 15 minutes to be recognized as waiting for a table, then another 15 minutes to get a table...finally when sitting down we didn't see our waiter for the next 20 minutes. When he finally showed up we ordered our drinks and food and then we never saw him again. We waited for atleast 45 minutes for our food and drinks, we couldn't wait any longer so just got up and left before the order probably even made it to the people microwaving it in the back. While waiting you can look back towards the kitchen and see that the waiters/staff sitting in the back talking and watching TV. If you come here be sure to have lots of time on your hands, because you'll be waiting and wasting a lot of it here!
- Cons: Service, food, parking
If you like pre-made, stale and microwaved pad thai, eat here!
by anthonie
i feel gyped. the pad thai was reheated in a microwave and was the nastiest stuff i have ever attempted to eat.
also, the gigantic grease splatters on the wall in our booth made us wonder if someone didn't decided to throw their order at someone. i wish i had.
- Pros: bad,bad,bad
- Cons: nothing good to say
The worst Thai food EVER. Don't waste your time or money
by ayme
I could see how people like this place if they don't have any knowledge about food. These would be the same people that like Mcdonald's or Taco Bell. Royal Thai is awful. We had to send our plates back because they were dirty. There was a hair in my tea. The food was beyond awful and inedible. The bill was 40 dollars for soup and two entrees. This is the sort of place that give Nashville/Franklin a bad reputation in the food realm.
Seriously, this is some of the worst food we've had in years. Don't waste your money.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Horrible food, dirty atmosphere, slow service
Best Thai Food In Nashville
by peaygirl
I have been to almost all of the Royal Thai's in Nashville. I used to go to the one in cool springs, but now I moved out here to Hermitage and I am so gratuful that there is a place out here to get fresh asian dishes. The vegetables and meat as well as the herbs are always fresh and you can taste the difference. They also have an exceptional vegetarian menu. I know that one of the reviews said that they were asked to leave at 10:15, but if that is true, they must have come in less than five minutes before close and that is just rude. You should never enter a sit down restaraunt within 30 minutes of their closing time. Regardless, I have never had anything less than exceptional service at any of the Royal Thai restaraunts. The food is great and I recommend taking advantage of the diverse deliciousness that Royal Thai offers.
It's a gamble

We had Pad Thai here on several occasions. Half the time, the pad thai was very good. The other half the time, it was inedible. The last time we visited Royal Thai (this past week), we ordered the bean noodle salad, steamed dumplings, and pad thai. The salad looked half its normal size (I had had it before) and had more iceburg lettuce than anything else. The steamed dumplings were obviously microwaved and therefore difficult to chew. But the coup de grace was the pad thai. It was a big glop of microwaved mess. It also tasted overcooked and burnt. I asked the server when it was prepared and he had the audacity to say that it was freshly prepared. Needless to say, we did not eat that pad thai or order another one. The server--who had not been pleasant to begin with--never apologized and made us feel like we were committing a crime by refusing to eat that atrocity. I have worked at a restaurant before and make a point to never send something back unless the situation absolutely calls for it, and this situation begged for it. If this had been the first time we experienced bad food and service here, we might reconsider the place, but since it's not, we won't go back to Royal Thai again.
- Pros: decent food if you go on a "good" day
- Cons: most days seem to be bad
This popular minichain brings its flavorful fare to Brentwood.

In Short
Set in the Harris Teeter shopping center, this sleek restaurant fills fast with the spicy, exotic aromas this company is known for. The menu, a combination of rice, noodle and curry dishes, reflects common Thai fare. Royal Thai's rendition of tom ka kai soup (chicken, lime juice, lemongrass and kafir leaves in coconut milk) therapeutically soothes a hungry stomach. Chefs prepare dishes as spicy as you choose, from mild to native.
Nice Little Thai place!!
by aimeinthebay
I recently moved here from California and am always on the lookout for authentic ethnic food. I'm was pleased to find a Thai restaurant so close to where I live. The price for dinner is a nice surprise. I love the white curry with wonderful coconut milk flavor!! The only downside I've found so far is that the acoustics make for a noisy meal. This is now one of my spots, being so close to home.-Aime Ryals
- Pros: good food, excellent value, friendly staff
- Cons: noisy, on the cold side
Very little quantity and OK taste

I tried take out dinner on a Tuesday night from here. Both their red curry & green curry tasted similar, other than the obvious difference in color, the green curry is marginally hotter than the red curry. But I was amazed at the fact that for $9.95 entrees there were literally 5 small pieces (about an inch long and half inch wide) of thin chicken strips in each. The rest were thin strips of bamboo shoots. Certainly, one of the worst places I had dinner (in terms of value). I will never have dinner there again.
