This is the best cake I have ever had! I have ordered the white cake with baby booties for 3 or 4 baby showers and every time, people comment on great the cake is! The price is wonderful too! Much better pricing that other shops nearby and 100X's better tasting! You won't be sorry you ordered from here!

Pros: Great pricing, EXCELLENT tasting!

Cons: Order in advance, she is so popular if you wait, you may not get your cake!

I have been doing business with Iris for over 12 years...and I have lived in Brentwood, Tennessee, Florida and North Carolina. When I have an event - family, wedding, etc. - in Tennessee (I have relatives all over the Mid-TN area), Iris is the ONLY person I call, even if I have to drive two hours to get her goodies! Her cakes are absolutely delicious and reasonably-priced. And Iris is a true artist. She can copy or make anything! I took her a ladybug napkin for my little granddaughter's 2nd birthday, and she made the most stunning ladybug cake that was exactly like the napkin, which went with the whole ladybug theme. Everyone raved about the beauty of the cake, as well as the delicious taste. She has wonderful fried pies, bar-type cookies, etc. Her mints are exceptional! She and the atmosphere of her shop have always made me feel welcome and at home. Iris and the ladies who work there wait on the customers as well as make the wonderful sweets. I am furious at the negative reviews I read on here because that's not reflective of Iris or her shop. Sometimes a bad review reflects the bad disposition of the reviewer, not the owner or company they are reviewing. If you want a beautiful cake for a birthday, wedding or any special event, go to Iris. You will NOT be disappointed! And don't be surprised if Iris is VERY busy...plan ahead because she is famous for her cakes and you don't want to miss out.

Pros: Fantastic Custom-Made Cakes! Delicious Baked Goods!

Cons: Parking is "iffy", but it's worth circling the area until you find a space.

I have had Iris bake cakes for me before she even opened the Flour Shop. She baked the most beautiful wedding cake for my daughter and everyone committed on the taste and appearance. She is amazing. We also got my grand-daughter's first birthday cake from her and it was amazing. And the mints are to die-for... You will never reqret having her do your event. Highly recommend and will continue having her to all my baking needs.

Pros: Everything is wonderful

Cons: none

That person is the last review must have had a bad day herself! Her statement about the owner couldn't be further from the truth. I met Iris (the owner of the Flour Shop) when she first started out at Huff's Grocery Store in Brentwood 15 (or so) years ago. She is a beautiful person! She works hard to satisfy every client and she would be so hurt by that review. The bottom line with the Flour Shop: It's a family owned and operated bakery. They specialize in old time favorites (like the YUMMY fried pies)! And, speaking from experience, Iris and her crew make FABULOUS wedding cakes--bride's and groom's--and do beautiful catered events as well as make a mean donut :-)! Kudos to the Flour Shop for being a Brentwood landmark and serving the community with class!

Pros: Customer service and everything sweet! And the 50's Juke Box!

Their cakes are the BEST but the owner is not nice at all. She seems to hate what she is doing.

Pros: great cakes

Cons: not nice to deal with

The cakes are great, true, but it's the fried pies that will make you lose your mind. Chocolate is the most recommended, but they're all out of this world. All other desserts in there are great too, and the cheese straws are very tasty. However, and I cannot stress this strongly enough, if you don't have a fried pie in there, then you're selling yourself short. Period.

Pros: Fried Pies

Cons: parking

We just celebrated my daughter's first birthday with a cake from The Flour Shop. I wanted to try someplace new because the last couple of cakes I got from Beckers were dry & just not very good. A friend suggested I visit Iris because of her darling "first birthday cakes." I took her my daughter's invitation and she created two amazing replicas (one big, one small) that tasted even better than they looked. I don't care what part of town you live in, a trip to the Flour Shop is well worth it. Make sure you get a fried pie, too. YUMMY!

Pros: Taste, Value, Variety

I don't know where that tn sunset went--but, it wasn't The Flour Shop! The Flour Shop is a "hometown" bakery with fabulous southern charm--the bakers do actually wait on customers and they do a great job with it! The atmosphere is 50s and it's very cute (including a jukebox for the kids to marvel)! I think their speciality is the "fried pies"--like grandmother used to make--they're just fantastic! They also make, to die for, sweet breads and all kinds of sweet bars (my favorite is key lime coconut). tn sunset was right about one thing--they don't have a wide variety of doughnuts and that's because they have a WIDE variety of the good sweet stuff! Krispy Kreme has the best doughnuts in town and that's where you need to go if you want a doughnut. If you want great cakes and special sweet things, go to The Flour Shop.

Pros: warm environment, southern hospitality, good prices

Not your regular bakery...the bakers wait on you. Ho-Hum attitude in service. Sweets in a basket, few donuts, no real specialty sweets. Unattractive ambience.

Pros: good flavor, knowledgeable staff

Cons: few parking spaces

The desserts from the Flour Shop are not only a treat for the palate but a feast for the eyes! If you can imagine it, they can bake it!

Pros: friendly, value, delicious
