Great wine tasting!
by HUNT4GOODFOOD at Citysearch
My friends and I went to September's last night for a wine tasting - very good. They had 4 wines for us to try along with food that was to compliment the wines. The wines were great - we got to taste some things that we might not have normally selected. The food was a perfect match to the wines. It will help me in pairing wine with food on future visits and at home. Plus they had a person there to talk more about the wine and they gave us all tasting info.
They had the tasting on their cool front patio with the fire pit. A perfect evening with my friends. We will do this again.
- Pros: great service, great location
- Cons: need valet
Not enough attention to detail

The evening started with a bad omen: I brought up September's on Google maps (the most popular online map, right?) and got directions...to Indian Lake Rd, not Indian Lake Blvd. What business doesn't check their GOOGLE listing for accuracy?
Anyway, drinks were good and strong, although one didn't come with the advertised chocolate rim. Mushroom fritters were especially tasty. Salads were popular - although the pecans weren't candied as advertised. Service was OK - we had to ask about specials and were asked what side we wanted even though every entree had a side specified. The steak, fish and scallops were adequate; the duck got high marks. The sides turned out either too dry or too oily or too boring.
Dessert: we came because we heard about the sunken cheesecakes. Pecan pie inside a cheesecake didn't disappoint. Key lime pie inside a cheesecake did disappoint because it was apparently out-of-season but still on the menu. The pumpkin pie inside a cheesecake substitute was good, but hearts were still pining for key lime.
Feels like they are reaching a bit too high on a lot of fronts: prices are positioned like an upscale evening, but the food doesn't deliver, competes with a multiplex for parking, customers are wearing ratty jeans and tennis shoes, kids and teenagers abound, mall shopping bags are peaking out from under tables, too far out in the burbs for pro waitstaff maybe?
For a Saturday night, the place emptied out really quickly - nearly dead by 8:30.
If I came by for a movie, I'd still drop in and try lunch.
- Pros: Martinis, apps and dessert
- Cons: Prices, value, location
Sunday Lunch not worth eating
by thorntonbh at Citysearch
Our family went to Septembers this past Sunday for lunch. The waitress was nice and we were promptly seated. There were hardly any customers in the restaurant and it was almost noon. The food took over 30 minutes, but we just assumed it was because it was being prepared. I had the Pork Tenderloin and it was too saltly. My wife had the Ravioli and it was too mushy. Our children also ate off the childrens menu and it didn't complain, but also didn't finish their food (which is rare and means it wasn't that good). I was astounded when our bill came and it was $69 before tip. We only had 2 drinks (soda) and the rest was water. If we plan on paying that kind of money we would have gone to a better restaurant. Definitely not worth the money.
- Pros: Pretty Restaurant
- Cons: Food terrible and over-priced
Unethical

My boyfriend and I went to Septembers recently and they had a band in house. After some drinks, appetizer and entrees our bill was outrageous. (well over $100). We asked the server to explain the $20 additional charge and he said it was for the band $10 a piece. We asked to speak to a manager, and he just brought the bill back without the charge. It is a good thing or we would have called the Newspaper or Chamber of Commerce!
All of this drama and not to mention the food was not good.
- Pros: Northing
- Cons: Cover Charge for Band
Ridiculous they have stayed in business this long

My husband and I recently dined at September's. We were excited to try the restaurant given how close they were located to the movie theatre. After the movie we headed over to the restaurant at about 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday night and were shocked the there probably only about 3 couples dining. That should have been our first clue!
After being seated, it took over 15 minutes to get our drinks and our food (when it finally arrived) was horrible. I ordered a Chicken Tortially soup that tasted like something that had sat in the fridge for over a week and it was overly saltly (probably trying to cover the staleness). I also order a Cheese Sandwich and the cheese was cold and not melted!
My husband ordered the New York Strip and it was rubbery. It was truly terrible and the potatoes he ordered with the meal were like stale dough. He actually sent the food back (he never does this). Here is the kicker...when we complained the waiter was completely uninterested or concerned. No offer of taking something off our bill since we didn't eat. When we asked to speak to the manager (presumably September) we were told she was busy!!! We will never return and hope to see this place close down woon! Then maybe we can get a real restuarant at this location!!!
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Food is all stale and the service is not professional
Not so hot

We really wanted to like this place - it's beautiful to look at, in a great location and has a fantastic wine list, but the food was cold! Everyone at the table got different items and everyone's food was cold - it was just strange! The place was really busy, and the waiter kept apologizing but with cold food and so-so service, I don't think we will be going back.
- Pros: Great atmosphere
- Cons: Over-priced and cold food
Great experience

Went to the new Regal Theater this past weekend and decided to try the new restaurant, September's. My wife and I were upset with ourselves because we had not tried them before. We had a great time and a great meal. I had the short ribs and she had the scallops (she said they were very fresh) - nobody else in this area serves scallops as far as we know. We got to meet the owners - and discovered they are local - not a chain - finally - Hendersonville is getting the shopping and dining we deserve.
- Pros: outdoor seating, service
- Cons: no valet
Avoid September's

I read all the bad reviews but wanted to see for myself. So after a daytime movie earlier this month I stopped in for a light meal. I didn't order anything complicated - just the soup of the day, and a half grilled cheese sandwich with garlic mashed potatoes. The entire meal was awful. I thought I had ordered tortilla chicken soup, but what I got was more like thickened potato soup that had been on the stove for a day or two. The sandwich was cold and the cheese never melted , it was just a pile of grated cheese between two slices of toast. I sent the mashed potatoes back as they were horrible! They were like a big ball of tasteless glue made from potatoes and water. I asked for french fries and you can find better fries at any McDonalds. Now don't think this mess of a meal happened because they were busy. I think we were probably the only ones in the restaurant at the time. And for some reason the waitress plopped herself down on a chair next to us for an unwanted chat. I'll never go back and expect to see a "closed forever" sign in the window soon.
- Pros: The restaurant is close to a movie theater.
- Cons: Apparently no one in the kitchen knows how to cook and the owner doesn't care what she serves.
Much needed in this area!!

I will admit, I was a little skeptical about this place because of some bad reviews that I've found on the internet. But after eating there with my family last week, I will start being skeptical of bad reviews that I read!! We had a fabulous time!
The ambiance grabbed us from the moment we walked into the restaurant. I had no idea it was so beautiful, warm & inviting inside! My husband & I were apprehensive about bringing the kids at first, but the kids' menu has many options and my youngest was actually able to find something he likes. This place is definitely kid friendly and my kids loved the idea of going to a "fancy place". The service was excellent. Beverly was great with my kids and very attentive to how needy a family with young ones can be.
My husband and I have heard from a couple of people that the menu is a little pricey, but we didn't find that to be the case at all! I think the prices were right on the dot for the quality AND the quantity that they serve. My husband had the Pork Chop (huge portion!!) and I had the fresh fish of the day. You cannot go wrong with the fish of the day!! I've heard the scallops are amazing, so I know what I'm getting next.
I'm looking forward to our next date night. We are definitely coming here. It is so nice to have a restaurant of this caliber in this area so we don't have to go downtown!
Thank you September?s! We will be supporting you.
superior service, new menu items, desserts - wow!

I was more than surprised at our recent visit to September's. We made the mistake of going during the first few weeks of opening. I have done this with more than one restaurant and should have learned my lesson. I suppose things aren't done quite right. Anyway, my husband and our 2 kids went Saturday night and they were talking about the new things on the menu for the fall. This was a new one for us. We (and our friends) frequent Cheddar's and the menu is always the same. So we had to spend some time studying. Our waiter was very patient and explained the new stuff to us - they had food that H'ville does not normally have - scallops - yum - one of my favorites as well as short ribs- and lamb. Not a favorite but one of our friends love it so I will have to tell him. Dinner was fab - our kids were excited we took them - they always wanted to dine out at a classy restaurant and the food they had was eaten completely. Septembers did not have a printed kids menu but the waiter knew what items were available for kids - good selection -it took care of my picky ones. Anyway - we were taken care of and felt special and the food was great - along with the service - much improved over the opening visit. I think we have found our spot in H'ville. Also they had a jazz group on the patio with the firepit - if we had not had the kids we would have stayed - they sounded really good.
- Pros: valet, fire pit,
- Cons: no crayons
Not a quick bite...
by sashimifor2 at Citysearch
I was at September's with a group of women friends for a quick bite to eat before a movie...Although the restaurant was serving only two tables, it took 25 minutes to seat us outside. The service took over one and one half hours to be on our way, making us late for the start of the movie. All I had was the "flourless" chocolate cake with orange glaze for $8 and coffee. The glaze was outstanding, but the cake was stale and the chocolate icing was tasteless. Still we had a good time- the linens and table herbs were nice.
- Pros: atmosphere, martini menu,
- Cons: slow, menu descriptions hard to live up to
