As someone who works downtown, I eat on 2nd ave a lot. Every time I visit McFaddens I am disappointed. They are usually out of half the items on their menu, the waitresses (are cute) but that doesn't make up for the very poor service (I ended up walking to the bar for refills every time), and the food is comparable to AppleBee's on a good day but extremely overpriced. The one dish that was OK was the fried pickles. Don't waste your time or money at this place!

Pros: Good Fried Pickles, nice TV's and cool ceiling fans

Cons: Bad food, bad service and extremely expensive!

We were in town this past weekend for my sister and her friend's 21st birthdays. We had about 13 people with us and were just walking down 2nd Avenue when a guy from Mcfadden's told us to come in there for their birthdays. We told them we had 13 people with us, and they still let us all in in front of the line. And I'm not sure if there's ever a cover charge, but they didnt charge any of us. On top of that, we get in and the guy who pulled us in gets on the microphone and wishes both of them a happy birthday, and then the bartender gave all 13 of us a shot. That really made our night a good one, and gave them an awesome memory for their 21st birthdays! We stayed there longer than anywhere else. It is a really fun place to hang out and I will definitely stop back in there the next time I am in Nashville. You are guaranteed to have a really great time here.

Pros: very nice staff, really fun atmosphere

Cons: The only con i can think of is the lady in the bathroom who grabs your hands and puts soap in them and then tells you to "help her out" b/c she "works for tips only". She is a little rude about it.

This is NOT, and I repeat NOT, an irish pub. Mcfadden's is basically Coyote Ugly with some shamrocks thrown around. if that's what you're into, then go for it. But, the fact that the place advertises as a pub, or even Irish, is baffling.

Upon entering we were told we would have to wait 15 minutes for a table. This was no problem especially when every place else in the area had at least a 45 minute wait. The interesting thing is that once seated there were tons of open tables in our area of the restaurant. We then had to wait 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order, even though the few tables around us were being served. I could see the beer taps but couldn't tell what they had from the distance so I asked what they had on draught and the waitress said just about everything, just name it. Well I could only see about 7 taps and when bars around the corner in both directions have over 80 beers on tap each, then "about everything" is quite a claim. When I ordered a dark beer I was served Coors Lite. Then it took another half hour to get the beer I ordered. On the next round I switched to Sam Adams in a bottle (didn't have it on tap). I was served the Summer Ale. The waitress didn't tell me that it wouldn't be the Boston Lager which is a bar standard. She said they only had the season beers which I guess means you shouldn't expect to go there repeatedly and get your favorite beer each time. I drank it because I didn't want to be too picky or wait until the next morning to get another beer. After a very long wait our food finally came and it was barely warm. They offered to take it back but we were starving by that time. The waitress did get the manager to take the Shepard's Pie off our check but the whole experience was so bad there's no way I'll give them another chance. Oh and they suddenly changed the music in the middle of a song and cranked it up instantly over twice the volume it had been. It really seemed like no one there had ever worked in a bar or restauranct before. But if you want to go to a bar where some of the waitresses dress like strippers then this may be the place for you. The 15 year old girl we had with us was offended and so was I.

Pros: no pros

Cons: all cons

This was my first time, and I wasn't terribly impressed. It was about midnight and I was expecting a sports bar. There was a cover charge and a dance floor. The DJ was pretty good, but the music was the same booty-dance stuff you hear at any of the "dance" places in Nashville. The drinks were overpriced. I didn't realize that I would need money to go to the bathroom, but fortunately I had a dollar in my pocket. The attendant yelled at a random girl and my friend because they didn't tip her. My friend was just standing in there while I peed. I was kind of afraid the woman was going to jump someone. I told her when I finished washing my hands I would give her the cash I had. I do not plan to go back.

I am a Nashville native who lives in another city now. My Irish boyfriend and his friends went to this bar while in Nashville as they thought it would be a cool place to go. The bar staff was rude and physically aggressive to a group of guys in town for a good time. I will NEVER step foot in this bar and I am hoping most of you will use your good judgment and do the same. Friends of mine in the city where I live now will not go to Nashville because of the treatment our friends received. I hope the bar management is proud of themselves as the literally wiped out potentially thousands of dollars in revenue by being rude and offensive to a group of harmless Irish fellows. I am embarassed to call myself a former Nashvillian because of the management and employees at this establishment. STAY AWAY FROM HERE AT ALL COST!!!

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Everything...especially the management and the employees

Being a Nashville native, I have learned to avoid 2nd Ave like the plague! Against my own will, I was escorted down second ave one night and led to into McFadden's. This place was AMAZING! We were having a late dinner and the food was great. They had traditional Irish dishes and some great burgers for the less adventurious. My friend had the Dublin burger, it was delish and beautiful. The severs were all sp nice and they worked together to make sure everyone was taken care of. After dinner, we stayed for drinks and the party. About 9 they bring the lights down, start the music, and start moving tables. They place drew in a lot of people, everyone seemed to have a great time, including me and mine. They make it snow with napkins, the employees join the party and make a ruckus. (I love a good ruckus.) This is 2nd's only saving grace, but it's great because you can get there at 6 and not leave til 4 (yes I said 4) and have a great time the whole time!

Pros: the employees, the food, and the patrty

Cons: I can't sleep over

I had a birthday party there a couple weeks ago. I called them and asked if they could work out a deal if I would bring in 30 people. They gave us some awesome pricing ($2 drinks), and gave me a great deal on my tab. Everyone was super nice and my friends and I had a blast. Great place to have a birthday party!

Pros: really nice staff, good prices

McFaddens late night is a very cool place for your 21-35 crowd. The staff throws a huge party like nothing I have ever seen. They let girls dance on the bar late night, but they are not the 50 year old tourists like you see dancing on the bar at Coyote Ugly. Alot of the crowd are my fellow Vanderbilt students, and we have a blast. They also have alot of young professionals that frequent it. They have one bartender named Jeremy that works on the weekends that is cool as hell. He always remembers me, always remembers what I drink, and is just cool. The dude poured me and 4 of my friends a shot, and took one with us, then said it was on him and he appreciated us coming in. Come on, where else in this city are you going to find a bartender that buys you a shot just because? Some of the reviews on here are absolutely blasting the place for poor food, but didn't they just open a few months ago? I mean, they probably had to work out the kinks in the process. Everything I have had to eat has been great. And someone objected to the fact that their friend wasn't allowed in because of his attire? Look who their neighbors are, Graham Central Station and BB Kings, that are full of hoodrats! They have to be hard asses about the dress code. I personally am glad that they don't let those thugs in, otherwise I wouldn't step foot on 2nd Ave. Bottom line is, its a decent place to grab some food during the day, and they throw an awesome party at night.

Pros: Good Ambience, Cheap drinks, Awesome staff, Rockin Party

Cons: ?
