This place has an absolutely incredible menu. My parents come down from St Louis and love to have the oyster po-boys because her oysters are so fresh. The shrimp pasta and the bbq shrimp apetizer are other allstars on this menu.
Stop by and have a great meal.
- Pros: Great seafood
Increible y delicioso!!! -- The best Uruguayan/Argentine food outside of South America
by holrock54
As a Uruguayan living in Nashville, I had been craving the home-comforts of parillada, chivitos, milanesas, mate, and a great vibe. Nola's is the epitome of great cooking and amazing friendly service. It is an amazing place to watch a "partido" of "futbol" or soccer as ya'll say. The only thing it's missing is waves crashing on the beach. Also the best part of every month is the 29th, when Alexia cooks up her special gnochis with a delicious red sauce...a Uruguayan tradition. They also have a good selection of cervezas but nothing from my homeland, and a kick-ass desert cannelonni. All in all, BARBARO/AWESOME!
- Pros: Chivitos, gnochis, everything Uruguayan/Argentinian
- Cons: not on the beach : (
Ignore Pcall's comments, they're misguided
by yonayona
Apparently Pcall railed against Chef Alexia "stealing everything" and accused her of carbon copying the menu from the once great, now defunct Patrick's Cajun Restaurant. Patrick's was great in it's day, both Patty & Brandt (mainly Brandy) did a great job with the food and everything. But apparently Pcall wasn't aware that Alexia was the cook there at Patrick's. Brandt taught her everything and when he step away she handled it. It's no wonder she followed pretty much the same recipe's and menu items...it's what she had cooked for quite a while...and those of us marooned regulars from Patrick's Krewe still enjoy going into NOLA's every now & then and remembering the great days at Patrick's....God, this town needs a good regular crawfish boil during the season.
- Pros: Cajun food
- Cons: no crawfish boils
Great small cozzy and delicious

I am very picky. I do not eat at places where the food score is less than 83. I love this little eatery!!
Nola's is not luxury kind but it is quality and very affordable. My partner and I went there for a bz lunch and we loved it.
Since that every saturday lunch is at Nola's, not only the place, the service and the food are excellent.
Wish she open another place at Green Hills, we will be there every day. The etouffee (spell check) is amazing, it has lots of crawfish and it is perfectly seasoned. They have a cannelonni (spell check) that is to die for. I can't resist not ordering a dessert called dulce de leche crepes because it is an rainbow of flavor.
Besides that you'll see the owners always there, they both work every day full time and that is very important when you are looking for great service.
We are waiting for their wine license, is the only thing that place is missing.
- Pros: ALL
- Cons: wine license :(
Average cajun fare, lots of potential but needs improvement
by thewordonthestreet
Hailing from South Lousiana I'm always on the lookout for new cajun/creole fare. I believe the chef used to work at Patricks's which explains the similarity. The food is okay but the set up of the restaurant could be a lot better. Being on West End and so close to vandy and in a stip mall, I really think this restaurant would work a lot better with a walk up counter, more variety on the menu, and slightly lower prices with more of a focus on the poboys. Instead its focused on more of a sit down restuarant which makes it seem very empty and weird. The shrimp poboy is exactly like it was at Patricks and it could definitely use some more shrimp. The jambalaya and etoufee are both pretty decent but not worth the price. I really think they should offer a hot roast beef poboy on the menu, that is by far my favorite poboy, simple as keeping some sliced roast beef simmering in a crockpot of au jus all day served with sweet savory sloppy gravy. I've come to terms that I'll never find Lousiana cuisine quite like it is in Lousiana and this place does come in a close 2nd behind Nooley's in the Farmers market but I think the general theme of the restaurant should be changed. I recommend the owner change it to more of a setup like Back To Cuba Cafe with a counter/bar and cater more towards the walk-in type crowd.
- Pros: pretty good shot at lousiana food
- Cons: ambience, parking, price, restaurant setup
'NOT CRAWFISH ETOUFEE!1!!!!
by rccburley
i HAPPENED TO SEE THE "cAJUN' MONIKER WHILE I WAS SLOWED IN THE RUSH HOUR TRAFFICK RETURNING H OME LAST EVENING. THE MENU WAS ENTICING. I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY THE CRAWFISH ETOUFEE ($10.00) AS TAKE-OUT TO SEE IF THIS WAS A PLACE THAT WOULD ACCOMMODATE ME FOR SOME OF THE EVENING MEALS THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR WHEN I CANNOT COOK FOR MY CHILDREN.
I WAS SORELY DISSAPOINTED. THE FOOD WAS BASICALLY INEDIBLE. THERE WERE PROBABLY 6--8 CRAWFISH IN THE ENTREE. THEY HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN FROZEN AND THEY WERE HARD TO FIND AMONGST THE SLOSSHY RICE AND OKRA. UG11111111111111111 I WANTED TO TO RETURN THEIS MESS AND ASK FOR MY MONEY BACK.
INSTEAD, I SAID TO MYSELF: "WHAT THE HECK?" JUST THROW IT AWAY AND FORGET ABOUT IT! THIS WEST END EATTERY IS A FARCE FOR THOSE OF US WHO KNOW CAJUN-CREOLE CUISINE. I WILL STICK WITH 'BRO'S' ON CHARLOTTE AVENUE.
'EXCELLE NT LOCATION--TERRIBLE CAJUN-CREOLE!!!!!
RCUNNINGHAM
- Pros: FRIENDLY WORKERS.
- Cons: BAD FOOD-- WON'T BE BACK!
Hooodogie....Just Like Louisiana.

Coming from Alexandria,Louisiana it's hard to find a restaurant in the South that actually lives up to the hype of "real authentic cajun food". Nola's is truly a delight. From the Jambalaya to the Crawfish Etouffee, you could'nt ask for a more back home taste.Love the inside layout. Beautiful paintings on the wall displaying the heart of New Orleans, and a nice cozey atmosphere. The staff couldn't have been nicer! I really had not had many plates from South America to tell the truth but, the chivito has got to be the best sandwhich I've ever eaten Hands Down!!! and I cant even say it right but the Parrilliada is to die for!
From Tilapia po boy,Oyster Po boy,to Raviolli Nola's covers it all.
Enjoy!!
Good deserts
by mwabii
I LOVE THE FLAN WITH DULCE DE LECHE IS GREAT!! AND THE APETIZERS HAS BETTER TASTE THAN THE ENTREE, AND IS A LOT CHEAPER YOU SHOULD TRY THEM
- Pros: GREAT DESERTS
- Cons: NOT A LOT OF VARIATY TO CHOOSE
Get Your Own!

Chef Alexia stole everything from someone else. The name, every cajun/creole menu item. I don't know for sure, but she probably stole the latin menu items as well. Please try to find a Patrick's menu and you tell me. It's almost a carbon copy. Has Chef Alexia been to Louisiana?
