Undercooked Chicken. Ugh.
by tennesseegroove
Ordered the mouth-watering-sounding buttermilk breaded fried chicken sammy for lunch. It arrived obviously undercooked. I sent it back. When it came back to me, my lunch companions were halfway through their lunches and my chicken sammy was still UNDERCOOKED. As in difficult to cut with a knife, almost raw undercooked. I decided against sending it back a second time because... two chances to cook this chicken is one too many and we had to get back to work. I won't be dining there again.
- Pros: Sunny, Great Coffee
- Cons: Undercooked chicken x2
A Good Meal With Value
by BamaBart
I was in town on business and brought my wife, so we decided to do an early Valentine meal. She loves French cuisine so I searched for good Nashville options. We were intending to go to Margots and when a parking spot was not readily available, we made the block and found this gem. I had seen it on this site earlier, but was under the mistaken impression that they did not serve dinner. As parking here was abundant we pulled in and I picked up a menu. We could not have been more pleased with our experience. We shared an appetizer of roasted tomatoes, cured olives and fried white beans and had a nice salad. For our entrees, I had the beef short rib special which melted in my mouth, and my wife had a beautifully presented vegetarian plate with a walnut encrusted portabello mushroom, a sweet potato mash, and roasted brussel sprouts with pine nuts. We finished our meal with a great pot-de-creme and a creme brulee. Everything was great, the service was excellent, and the price- with a glass of wine and coffees, under $75! I felt like we got a lot of quality and quantity for a good price. We are not high-dollar big spending foodies, but we love a good meal, and this one was definitely a great find.
- Pros: quality, value and easy parking
- Cons: ambiance

My New Favorite Place
by green75p
This is the best place for lunch in Nashville, no question. I "discovered" this place when a friend took my there for lunch and immediately I loved it. The large windows, eclectic selection of tables and other decor make the place feel very unique and charming. I cannot say enough good things about their food. I have had many different things--all vegetarian--and I have never been disappointed. I especially like all their fresh vegetables in their dishes they have a delicious salad that comes with some dishes that involves cucumber, beans, tomato, etc with a wonderful light vinaigrette. I know that it is open for dinner now too but I have not been there for that yet. I have taken many people here of all types, older people, business friends, family, and all of them loved it. My mother was even trying to figure out how she could try to replicate some of the dishes. It is also very progressive with things like heirloom tomatoes which I love. I have had dessert here and it was a berry tart and it was just the best thing ever. I would not recommend taking children here as it is not really that kind of place. The staff are incredibly friendly and provide great service. The only downside is that it is probably going to keep getting more popular and it is a bit small. Otherwise, perfection.
- Pros: Very fair pricing for this type of quality, great service, food atmosphere
- Cons: A bit small
Great Brunch
by hdhicks
We went for brunch on Saturday, and only had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. So we ordered coffee and drinks and hung out until they called us. We ordered the bread basket with 6 different spreads and it was so good! Then we got our entrees, which were all very flavorful and were made with fresh ingredients. Croissant french toast, eggs and prosciutto with arugula on tuscan bread, beef brisket with eggs and bread, and granola were all very tasty and light. The omelets and quiche looked great too. It was a good atmosphere (very European), very relaxing, especially all the natural light from the windows. You can even watch them make the meals, so you know that you are getting great service. We will definitely be back soon!
Excellent brunch
by tmclean1
Sunday brunch was my first trip to Marche. There was a few minute wait, but it was worth the wait. The food was excellent, and the service was satisfactory. There were seven in our party, and they were able to accomodate this size party. I look forward to returning to Marche.
- Pros: Excellent food.
- Cons: Limited space
Great for lunch!
by 2greyrooms
If you're looking for bruch, I'd skip Marche...its sister restaurant, Margot, has a much bigger and better brunch menu, but you can't beat Marche for a light weekday or weekend lunch. The food is fresh and delicious-- I have never had anything there that I did not like. The coffee (Drew's Brews) is excellent. The service is always efficient and quick, if not overly friendly. The menu changes weekly, but standouts I've had in the past are the steak sandwich, a savory goat cheese and leek tart, and the strawberry marscapone sponge cake. The soup and salads are always interesting and tasty. This is a good option for vegetarians; there is always at least one creative veggie entree on the menu. Never been there for dinner, but I hear it is good as well.
- Pros: The food, fresh ingredients, creative kitchen
- Cons: Reservations not accepted, often a wait
Was expecting a little more...
by charjp
I'd heard great things about Marche so maybe my expectations were too high, but I was kind of disappointed after my visit today. It was Mother's Day so I'm sure it was much busier than normal but it just didn't live up to the hype. We had a 45 minute wait (understandably so) but I liked the European feel and interior and was looking forward to the food.
When we sat down I was kind of disappointed with the menu. I was hoping that a place renowned for brunch would have more brunch-type options. There was only one quiche and one omelette on the menu and then entrees like pork chop, steak/eggs, pasta, salmon, and some others. I decided on the omelette and my boyfriend decided on the quiche (since we were both in the mood for brunch). After ordering, our waitress told us they were out of the quiche listed and the replacement was a broccoli cheddar quiche. The broccoli cheddar sounded kind of ordinary so my boyfriend had to pick something else and defaulted to the same omelette that I was ordering. I wish she'd told us about the menu change when we first sat down, but was still looking forward to the food. We also ordered the salmon tartar appetizer.
Our omelets arrived, but no salmon tartar. We had to ask for it and our waitress brought it out immediately but it's a pet peeve of mine to not receive an appetizer before my meal. Both the tartar and omelets were good, but not great. Also the tartar came with only 4 pieces of toast (which really wasn't enough) so we asked for more. Our waitress asked if we wanted toast or bread and we said whatever is easier and it still took about 10 minutes for two slices of bread to get to the table. Overall, it was a less than stellar experience but I'd be willing to give Marche another visit, maybe next time for lunch or dinner.
For anyone who lives around South Nashville, I think Sofie's Bistro has a better brunch menu (Sundays only) and since I don't live in East Nashville, I'll probably stick with Sofie's for Sunday brunch.
- Pros: Good food, nice interior
- Cons: Seating is limited, no waiting area
