Food was inedible
by hizoww at Citysearch
We were looking forward to trying Flyte based upon all of the great reviews here. It was incredibly disappointing. Although the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was decent- the food was absolutely awful. We tried their buffalo chicken spring rolls (which the waiter informed us was their signature dish)- and they were inedible- way way way too salty and greasy. Also, the tapas offerings were sub par. In their defense, they did remove the items that we couldn't eat from our bill, but we won't be going back.
- Pros: very nice environment and good service
- Cons: horrible food
Crash and burn

A year ago everyone wanted to meet at Flyte for my birthday. This year, I suggested a return visit and for the most part the answer was: "eh."
The tentpole servers are gone - and when you go somewhere like Flyte, the service really is a feature. I admit I haven't been at all this spring, because the restaurant has little in the way of al fresco dining - I mean, I don't want to sit on a porch in a parking lot looking at traffic going up and down to get their fix from Frugal's.
My suggestion: try to get some space in the Gulch.
- Pros: Some creative items
- Cons: Favorite servers are gone, location
Super Atmosphere...dissappointing dinner
by happy01 at Citysearch
We were very excited to go to Flyte recently but were dissappointed with the results. We were very pleased with the wine list. When we ordered a second bottle however, we were told they were out. The wine that our server recommended as being even better was nothing like the 1st selection. Our service was very slow, we had a hard time getting the attention of our server. Other than the 2nd bottle of wine he did not provide much assistance with our ordering. The soup flyte was good (especially the corn chowder). The salads dissppointed. The grouper was too tough to even cut with a knife and was no larger than 1" x 2". We did not complain but would have thought the server would have commented on it when he cleared the plates. The pork was very good though. Our table had 3 desserts but I cannot tell you what they were...we were not impressed. However, afterwards we stopped in the bar and the bartender recommended the Scarlett Letter drink which was delicious!!! We do not need large portions, we really do like to be able to order salads, entrees and dessert and not leave the restaurant overly full but some the portion sizes were too small.
- Pros: Beautiful Restaurant!
- Cons: Serving sizes, service
Nothing special

We ordered the Rock Star Flyte and it was NOT worth $26 paid. Waiter did not even tell us which wines were which when he delivered them. Wine was delivered halfway into our second course but ordered at the same time. Also ordered the Pecan Pie Salad. Total bill for 1 "flyte", salad and appetizer was over $60. Left before ordering a full meal. Interesting, but not fantastic and not worth $10. We did however get a cozy corner booth that was romantic.
I would have paid more for my $3 Yogurt than any meal here

I would not recommend this place to anyone with a sophisticated palate or hearty appetite. The food here was way overpriced for what it was. I ordered a vegetarian dish and the dish was the size of my hand which was rather shocking to me considering vegetables are far cheaper than proteins; I figured they would load up my plate with veggies, tofu and orzo but that was not the case. I would have appreciated a small plate of food if it had unique and tasty flavors, but this reminded me of uncle Ben's rice coupled with a few veggies and tasteless tofu. My husband ordered the duck entree, which was nothing to brag about but it wasn't terrible. I could have done without the freeze dried cherries on there but otherwise it was a half decent meal. Overall, the service was impeccable, we LOVED the waiter. He was very attentive and had a great personality. The hostess and other staff members we met were all very polite too. Overall, I feel that if you're going to spend $35 for an entree in Nashville, please go somewhere else to get your money's worth.
Overall - Not worth the trip

I was expecting a lot from Flyte. Lots of recommendations from friends so I figured I'd give it a try. The restaurant itself is very nice. And I appreciated the service there. But when it comes down to it, you go to a restaurant for the food - and unfortunately it was lacking.
While the dishes are presented very well, the portions are entirely to small. I'm not expecting to take food home but this was ridiculous. I paid 38 dollars for a lamb dish and received at most 3 ounces of edible food. (no sides come with the entrees ) The cuts of meat were very sub par having way too much fat and no meat to be found. I ordered my plate medium it was completely 100% raw. I'm not the type of person who complains at restaurants but for the price I paid and not being able to eat what little meat on the bone there was, I had no choice but to tell the waiter that the meal was completely unsatisfactory.
The waiter comped my plate which is why I'm giving them 2 stars and not one...
Poor bar Service
by mccain000 at Citysearch
My friend and I sat at the bar. I had to ask the bartender for a menu. Didn't ask if we wanted any food. Loved the wine I selected. We left for the poor service.
- Pros: Great Wine, parking is easy
- Cons: Poor service, bad area of town
Tacky

The food was very good and the service was very good up until the end of the meal. As soon as we were done eating our server asked us to move to the bar because they had another party waiting to be seated. When the portions are small for the price its a big turnoff to feel rushed out. I would not recommend Flyte, there are plenty of places where you can spend your money on a good meal and not feel disrespected.
- Pros: Food is tasty
- Cons: Don't value their customers, expensive
There is better in Nahville

My wife and I are big fans of the other locally owned restaurants in Nashville so decided to give Flyte's a try for our anniversary. We were severely disappointed. The restaurant was excessively noisy, anything but romantic, but we could live with that. What we could not live with was the food. I started with a trio of scallops to start the meal, they were excellent. Unique flavors that I would not have put together but will now and it tasted delicious. My wife started with a salad that she enjoyed. If we would have left at that point we would have been happy. I followed the scallops with an entree of wild game with a cola reduction paired with potatoes. I was intrigued with the combination on the menu and after the scallops had high hopes. Extremely sweet, over the top can?t taste anything else sweet on well done meat! Very disappointing. Believe it or not my wife?s fish entree was even sweeter, as was her rice and everything else on the plate, nothing to cut the sweetness of her fish. She gave up and just ate the potatoes on my plate. We decided that the Chef had a sweet tooth that night, or switched the salt with the sugar. When the waiter asked if we would like to see the dessert menu my wife laughed and after he left said that she thought we had already eaten dessert. We both also had a flight of wine with our food courses. The wine alone was very good, but paired with overly sweetened food became lost. We hope that our experience was a fluke, we had heard good things about Flyte?s, but given the price of the dinner for the two of us versus what we were served we will not be going back to find out.
Expensive Experience in the 'Seediest' part of town
by ugreekmegreek at Citysearch
First, parking by the seediest "Swinger's" bar and a block from Nashivlle's biggest and oldest Adult Book Store I was already turned off and planned on making sure I was ready to make a bee line to the entrance to this place while praying I wouldn't wake up as a Human Slave. Secondly, the drinks are on the Top Highest Prices list in the Southeast. Made it nice being allowed to bring your own bottles of wine, making you appreciative and about $40 richer to pay for 1 salad and 1 entree. Third, out of a party of 8, only 2 enjoyed their meals. Even the 'Birthday Girl' was obviously so unhappy the manager and chef offered to bring her something else. Tiny portions of bland food at Ruth Chris' prices. I was the first to leave the party, accompanied by a male friend to my car....
- Pros: Great decor and color of paint
- Cons: Too many to pay for
