Best Service hands down

by Jazzyliz at Citysearch

From the moment I called the restaurant to arrange a gathering for a large group of people, they were excellent. Last years location ran out of food, so it was important to me to ensure that my guests were well accommodated. We went over location of seating in the restaurant by phone on the initial call. They checked in every week prior to the event to ensure we had sufficient seating and were ok with the items on the limited menu. They serve organic food and offered Vegan options for my vegetarian guests.

Being raised by a Sous Chef, I'm extremely critical of food and service in restaurants. My Australlian Fillet was great. It was both well seasoned and well cooked. My favorite drink was The Scarlett Letter and the waiter's recommendation of the German Riesling was quite popular.

I left a couple of times to walk several guests to their car and my server took my food to ensure it didn't get cold. Who does that in casual fine dining restaurants?! When management heard that a couple of people were unhappy, they called to ask what could be done better going forward. It means a lot to know that i'm not just a sales number to the restaurant or that opinions go in one ear and out the other.

A little pricey for every week, but Flyte will be top of my list for special events and intimate dates. I recommend the room with kitchen view for any party of 15-25 if you go.

  • Pros: The service and group seating
  • Cons: Autumn harvest dish

Just Plain AWFUL!! And that is being NICE!

by Luvin at Citysearch

Addendum: The manager read my review, called my friend and wanted me to call him which I did. My food was comp'd and that is great! However my review still stands as is. Like I said before it wasn't the customer service I took issue with it was the food!

I went to Flyte on Friday evening for a birthday dinner. Let me make this clear our SERVER was GREAT!!! There was a group of 17-20 of us and everything was very prompt.

I started with the salad 5 leaves of lettuce and 4 grapes and star anise ice cream YUCK!

Next out came the chickpea battered cauliflower?the only flavor was pepper again YUCK! A friend ordered the soup flyte all 3 soups were horrible. The tomato basil tasted as if they opened a can of tomatoes and pureed them and said here its soup!

Ok now for my main entree the autumn vegetable plate. The BBQ'd pumpkin was char black on the outside and raw on the inside (Note: if you are going to bbq pumpkin you should parboil or roast it before hand) the butternut squash cake was served with a sauce the best way I can describe it was it left a FUNK taste in my mouth. I love quinoa and its very hard to mess up HOWEVER it must be seasoned and it wasn?t. It was so bad that I ordered a side of olive oil and sea salt to try and improve on the atrocious meal that was set before me. The glass of wine was fine, but not worth the $14 they charged for it. Before the meals arrived we were excited about dessert however after all was said and done no one had the heart to order one!

The meal that I ordered was totally meatless and tasteless and came to $63...had the food been good I wouldn?t have minded the price.

I began to wonder how they have managed to stay in business for so long then it dawned on me. Charge outrageous prices serve small portions and there you have it a recipe to stay in business. Out of the 17-20 of us 15 people were disappointed and VOWED never to return and to make sure to tell everyone we know never to go there!!!!!!!

Best wine and dine in Nashville! Beautifully decorated.

by ncrowd at Citysearch

Best Wine List available anywhere in town. Flyte has a vast selection of interesting wines, plus the ability to order a wine Flyte of 3 different wines. Dinner was very different from the normal chain feast. Our party really enjoyed the organic / humanely raised emphasis that the restaurant is known for, along with a vegetarian option listed on the menu with the other entrees. I had the filet which was perfect. Desserts were beautiful. We tried 3 and they were all fantastic. We hung in the bar after dinner and had another cocktail. We will be having a happy hour there very soon. If you are looking for a new and exciting place, this is it.

  • Pros: Wine, dinner options, service, parking, comfortable bar area, music
  • Cons: A bit pricey, but well worth it

Great find!

Took my girlfriend here this past weekend and we both loved it! Their focus on organic food is great and they have a really cool wine list. Server (Mark? Mike? started with an M) was knowledgeable and fun. We'll be back often!

Super Atmosphere...dissappointing dinner

by happy01 at Citysearch

We were very excited to go to Flyte recently but were dissappointed with the results. We were very pleased with the wine list. When we ordered a second bottle however, we were told they were out. The wine that our server recommended as being even better was nothing like the 1st selection. Our service was very slow, we had a hard time getting the attention of our server. Other than the 2nd bottle of wine he did not provide much assistance with our ordering. The soup flyte was good (especially the corn chowder). The salads dissppointed. The grouper was too tough to even cut with a knife and was no larger than 1" x 2". We did not complain but would have thought the server would have commented on it when he cleared the plates. The pork was very good though. Our table had 3 desserts but I cannot tell you what they were...we were not impressed. However, afterwards we stopped in the bar and the bartender recommended the Scarlett Letter drink which was delicious!!! We do not need large portions, we really do like to be able to order salads, entrees and dessert and not leave the restaurant overly full but some the portion sizes were too small.

  • Pros: Beautiful Restaurant!
  • Cons: Serving sizes, service

great new resturant

by ljwcpa at Citysearch

though the location was iffy.....upon entering the resturant my wife and I felt right at home...both the lounge and resturant areas are warm and inviting... our servers' name was haley; she was charming and new the menu very well....all of her suggestions were right on!!! the appatizers, salads, main course and deserts were excellent as were the vodka martini's.....we've been to most resturants in the nashville area but this one didn't have any negatives....we had a great evening and though we leave a lot of resturants and never go back, this won't be the case with flyte's.....can wait to come back for more good food and entertainment!!!!

Flyte - First Class - Reserve Today!

by Dee1224 at Citysearch

I have known about Flyte for quite some time. Last night was the first time that I have ventured there to dine. I have to say that I am very sorry I did not come sooner. I tend to be intimiated by different cuisine, but I did not have one bad thing at this resaurant. Chef Bobby was incredible. The soups were devine. Each person at our table orded something different so we could all try it. Everything was prepared to perfection. It looked too good to eat and tasted even better. The service was outstanding. Request Haley if you can. She was very accomodating and friendly! The atmosphere was great, lighting was dim and elegant; I would have to rank Flyte up there as one of the best places to eat in Nashville.

  • Pros: Valet Parking, Ambience - Elegant, Surpurb service

Nothing special

by jenben00 at Citysearch

We ordered the Rock Star Flyte and it was NOT worth $26 paid. Waiter did not even tell us which wines were which when he delivered them. Wine was delivered halfway into our second course but ordered at the same time. Also ordered the Pecan Pie Salad. Total bill for 1 "flyte", salad and appetizer was over $60. Left before ordering a full meal. Interesting, but not fantastic and not worth $10. We did however get a cozy corner booth that was romantic.

Go today!

by hereismyopinion at Citysearch

If you've never been to Flyte for whatever reason - go now! They really do have something for everyone..their menu is sophisticated but not stuffy - and most importantly, it's delicious! You can tell that the kitchen staff is really into what they do. They've also added a great happy hour menu with drink and food specials, which is definitely worth a try. (The buffalo spring rolls, if you like chicken, are a must try - and it's enough for a meal, too, if you're not interested in a big dinner that day).

If you've been to Flyte before, but not lately - go back! The menu changes all the time, and I happen to enjoy that as I like to try new things - and the desserts ROCK! I wasn't always a fan of the desserts before on my visits, so I asked about the new sweets - they said that they just hired a new pastry chef, and they're SO good. So much so, I've been back to try as many desserts as possible. Again, there's always something new, and none of the items has been less than fantastic. If you're a dessert person, here's your new spot!

I could go on and on, but I think that you get that I like the place...so go now and try it out! I like to read other reviews and try places that others really like, so I thought that I'd share about a place that I really enjoy as well!

  • Pros: great desserts, and the brussel sprouts - you have to try them!
  • Cons: can be a little loud; if you're looking for a quiet dinner, tell them so they can seat you at the right table

Outstanding food and service!

by edzburns at Citysearch

Last week I was travelling for business to Nashville and took a group of 8 co-workers and customers to Flyte. I often take clients out in NYC so I'm used to very high quality dining and service. I must confess I was very impressed with both the quality of food and the level of service we received - ranked right up with any of the best meals I've ever experienced. The flyte of three soups was fantastic, and the pork loin practically melted in my mouth. Our server was very attentive and at the same time respectful of our business meeting. I will definitely be back!
