Nashville's cutting edge

Flyte has quickly become our go-to restaurant. We went with friends this weekend and had a blast. The food is simply out of this world, the service is attentive (but not annoyingly over the top), the room is inviting, and the wine list is unusual - in a good way. As the last reviewer pointed out, the portions are not Cheesecake Factory big, but I personally don't care for walking out of a place in a food induced coma. Not cheap if you do all the courses, but well worth it!
- Pros: service, food, wine list, atmosphere
- Cons: can get loud when full

A year ago everyone wanted to meet at Flyte for my birthday. This year, I suggested a return visit and for the most part the answer was: "eh."
The tentpole servers are gone - and when you go somewhere like Flyte, the service really is a feature. I admit I haven't been at all this spring, because the restaurant has little in the way of al fresco dining - I mean, I don't want to sit on a porch in a parking lot looking at traffic going up and down to get their fix from Frugal's.
My suggestion: try to get some space in the Gulch.
- Pros: Some creative items
- Cons: Favorite servers are gone, location

Flyte is unique and amazing–not to be missed!!! The food and service are exceptional (thanks, Will!), and the staff is knowledgable and enthusiastic. The bar martinis are creative and tasty, and the wine list, including by the glass, is huge and interesting. The food, in addition to being delicious, is natural and fresh. Our pork was the best we’ve ever tasted, the trio/flyte of salads tasted freshly picked, and each had its own unique blend of flavors. If you’re ever in Nashville, get to Flyte!
- Pros: IMPECCABLE SERVICE & PHENOMENAL FOOD!
- Cons: NONE
No Service

I am a huge fan of supporting local restaurants and even giving them the benefit of the doubt when the experience is lacking. However, Flyte has the honor of my worst dining experience of all time. Perhaps this is because there was no dining experience. After being seated my girlfriend and I sat there for over 20 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged by anyone. There was no water, no I'll be with you in a moment - nothing. To add to this, I could count on one hand the number of tables who had patrons. There were multiple servers moving in and out of the kitchen and right by our table. Many of them often glanced at us however no formal greeting occured. Perhaps this was a simple miscommunication on the restaurants part as to who was responsible for our table or possibly this server was just plain busy but I did not stay to find out to see if they would finally greet us after 30 minutes. I truly felt like I was in some Seinfeld episode and the entire thing was a joke. It is incredible how far a simple greeting will go.
- Pros: quickly seated
- Cons: not greeted

I have been to Flyte many times, and have never had any complaints.... It just keeps getting better and better!Since the weather has warmed up, my girlfriends and I have taken advantage of the patio and the awesome happy hour prices on the bar menu and drinks. We have tried just about everything on the menu.... and it is ALL excellent!
The staff at Flyte may be the best around. It is not often you go out and have people taking care of you like these guys do, over and over again! It is definately my favorite place to EAT, DRINK and be MERRY in Nashville......
- Pros: Extensive wine list; Unique seasonal menu;Great happy hour

Every time I travel to Nashville I make time to visit Flyte. It's a great place to meet friends and have an outstanding dinner with the best wine list in Nashville. I frequent restaurants in NYC and Flyte ranks right up there with them. The menu is always exciting and the service is polite, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Plus the last time I was there I was seated near Bob Seger!!!!!!
You never know who you'll run into at Flyte!!!!!
- Pros: Quality & Service
- Cons: Only one location
Great restaurant if you have the right server

My wife & I have been to Flyte several times and have always had a great dining experience. The food and ambiance are a winning combination on their own but it's the excellent service we've always received that had put Flyte at the top of our favorite restaurants lists. However, our last visit proved to be quite the exception. Joseph was our server and he seemed friendly enough at first but quickly changed gears when he realized we weren't going to be ordering expensive entrees and bottles of wine. He insisted my wife & I order the "chef's tasting" along with paired wines and that this would be a "superior dining experience." I don't normally go for high pressure sells tactics when I'm dining but the staff hadn't steered me wrong in the past, so I decided to trust our server. Once our order was in and the courses started to arrive, our server checked out on us. He didn't go over dishes, checked back on us rarely and even forgot 2 of the wine pairings!! I would have been somewhat understanding if he'd been busy with other tables but that wasn't the case & he actually got rude with me when I reminded him of the forgotten wines. The plain truth is, he was more interested in presenting us with a hefty dinner tab than providing a great dining experience. To add insult to injury, my wife & I realized we'd been duped when we took a menu home with us to study. Every one of our courses was on the menu and we were basically just charged more for having them split, and yes, the wines that were selected with each course were some of the most expensive on the wine list. I've done chef's tastings in restaurants all over the country and the courses are always "off menu." All of this was especially disheartening when compared to our past experiences. Come on Flyte, times are tough and diners have lots of options. You're better than this! I still strongly recommend Flyte. I also recommend you ask for Todd or Scott.
Absolutely Fabulous Experience!! It's a must try...

OMG... One of the best dining experiences I have had! The food, the wine, the service, the atmosphere - It was all encompassing. I use citysearch all the time, but this is only the second review I have written (the first for dining) which hopefully says how outstanding this restaurant was. It might be hard to keep it short b/c everyone there deserves a shout out! Last night, based on previous reviews, I took my out of town manager, my physician, and his wife to Flyte. Each one of us feels the same way about our experience... First, the bartender (Joseph?) took the time to listen to the type of wine I was looking for and presented me with a couple of options - and introduced my to one of the best Old World White Wines I have every had (and I drink wine!!) and some sweet potatoe fries while I waited for my guests to arrive. It was a delight to sit and wait while enjoying the decor and the music. When we sat down, our server Will took over and just made our night. His personality was perfect - not a know-it-all (even though he Really Did know it all) and not overbearing (was Always There but never hovered over us). We took his suggestions to heart and enjoyed some of the best food (from fabulous appetizers to the amazing entrees to the delicious deserts) that we have ever enjoyed. That original wine (2005 Gramona Gessami) I had at the bar ended up being a table favorite with two bottles being uncorked!! He even suggested a port with desert that was perfect - And I don't even drink port wine! I just can't say enough - except one last thing - a special thanks to Executive Chef Jake Sterns (who visited our table twice) and Pastry Chef Erica Waksuma that also came by. Their creations were not only delicious, but beautifully presented. And NO, I don't work there - I asked for everyone's information so that I could give respect where it was due... Thanks to all of you - You'll see me again and again... Julie
- Pros: All of It.
- Cons: None

Great service, exotic takes on Americana cuisine, amazing wine list are all great reasons to visit Flyte. We've been there more times than I can count on numerous visits to BNA and never been disappointed. The Scotts have it down - simple as that. The menu is broad enough yet not so expansive that quality suffers.
No other restaurant in town equals their wine selection + reasonable price + attentive service.
- Pros: Spectacular presentation; creative menu; expansive wine offering
One of the best dining experiences in Nashville; food was incredible and service second to none

We dined at Flyte for the first time on 1/17/09. We had plenty of time, arriving at 5:00 and had an 8:00 show at TPAC. We heard about Flyte from Zola's personnel, who recommended it as another fine establishment in Nashville. We completely agree. Our server was Joseph and he was there as often as we needed. He moved here from New Orleans, and it was evident that he is a professional server as he made our dining experience incredibly pleasant. Nashville needs more attentive people like him. He suggested some different wines from their list of over 100 by the glass. We tried a couple of them and chose a favorite for dinner. We started with the Chickpea encrusted cauliflower, which he recommended. It was great - crispy and spicy, never knew you could combine chickpeas and cauliflower. We then had a couple of fabulous salads - will probably have the flyte of salads next time so we can try all 3. We had the pan seared Kingfish and the Turkey. The combination of Kingfish, delicate sauces and goat cheese polenta was incredible. It was just enough food to not be stuffed or need leftovers. It was just right. The turkey entree was incredibly moist - and did not remind you of Thanksgiving dinner. They also serve water chilled and not over ice, which we love. We definitely recommend this restaurant for its food and service. It is nice to go to a local Nashville restaurant, which may be highly priced, and have the food and service exceed expectations.
Best Dining Experience of my Life (seriously)

As someone who eats out all the time, its rare that a restaurant actually impresses me. With Flyte, I can now say that it holds the top spot for my favorite dining experience... period. I took a group of friends to have dinner and one of the owners, Scott S., came over to greet our table. He was a warm, gracious host and we really enjoyed his knowledge of the wines. During dinner, I was amazed when the chef came out to greet us and talked at length about the meals he prepared that night.
As if the food, wine, decor, and service weren't enough to make it a fantastic night... we then moved over to the bar area and spent more time enjoying after dinner drinks. Scott S. revisited our table and continued the discussion about wine. Even though I enjoy red wines, I didn't know if I was a 'new world' or 'old world' wine drinker. Scott grabbed a few bottles that were already opened and let me sample various wines until we confirmed that I was definitely a 'new world' red wine drinker.
Best dining experience I've had and each subsequent visit has also been fantastic. If you love food, wine, and a great experience - you'll love Flyte.
- Pros: Quality of Food, Selection of Wines, Unique Experience with 'Flytes', and Best Wait Staff in Nashville
- Cons: None
