Service has gotten MUCH better!
by timtapwater at Citysearch
I fully acknowledge what one reviewer wrote here: The service used to be extremely slow. But on our last three visits to Ri'chard's, I'm happy to report it is now MUCH faster. In fact, it isn't even an issue at all. So go to Ri'chard's for great food and music!
terrible service *!*#!!

Man, it takes forever to get a meal at Richard's Cafe. It seems the employees are more interested in their social lives than service. The management is poor, and the food comes out about an hour after you order if it's a good night. I've been twice and it's been a complete waste of my time. I think they have the music there so the other tables of people waiting for food can't hear you complain. Stay away unless you have all night to wait for a po' boy.
I had to give it one star, there aren't any lower ratings available.
- Pros: the roof didn't leak when i was there
- Cons: food and service
service is slooooowww!! food is good though.

my family and i have been to richards on quite a few occasions. consistantly the food has been tasty and consistantly the service has been awful. i know the kitchen is small but the food never comes out at the same time. some meals comes out 45 min after you order and then the others come out 45 min after that. and repeatedly i have gotten up and gotten the water jug to fill my water glass. we love the food and the atmosphere but whenever it is brought up as an option for dinner i cringe at the thought of the service i know ill be getting.
i know this sounds harsh and i do recomend the place but only if you are not in a rush to get in and get out.
Authentic Cajun
by tobybear at Citysearch
Richard's Cafe has authentic downhome Cajun food like I was raised on down in South Louisiana.
Even the building resembles a small cafe or diner that would be run by a single family for generations in downtown Thibodeaux, Morgan City, or Lafayette.
When I went the Shrimp Creole was great, as was the band. It wasnt Cajun, but Country. Which isnt odd even in Louisiana considering when you head West on I-10 from New Orleans through Baton Rouge and Lafayette you keep getting closer to Houston, TX.
Overall its a wonderful place to eat some great fresh Cajun food. And really affordable!
- Pros: Great Cajun Food. Outside theres low humidity, no giant mosquitoes or Alligators!
- Cons: No Louisiana Abita Beer when I went. Amber, Purple Haze, and Turbo Dog are available in Nashville bars and grocery's but not a Cajun Restaurant?
Great gumbo
by angies1997 at Citysearch
Cute little restaurant in a hidden spot in White's Creek at the intersection of OHB and White's Creek Pike. They have a small stage and sometimes have music on Friday and Saturday nights. The gumbo is wonderful with a cold beer and the po' boys are huge. I reccommend the shrimp po' boy. Service is very friendly and quick. One of my favorite finds.
- Pros: great food, inexpensive menu, unique place
- Cons: limited hours

Obviously the reviewer has not visited Richard's Cafe recently. Or perhaps they decayed in their while waiting for their food.
