Wost Service - Not courteous, Very Rude and Obnoxious
by redcushion at Citysearch
Ive been going to this place for 2 years mainly for lunch ONLY because this is the only thai place around. But NEVER AGAIN and will go out of my way to advice everyone at work the same.
The waiter did not explain anything on the menu inspite of us asking for some help on it. Typically I always tip , but this time I did not care much for the service and attitude of the waiter and decided not to Tip him. The waiter CONFRONTED us on this, followed us outside the restuarant, used abussive language with my wife and ASKED US NOT TO VISIT THE PLACE AGAIN.
I think I need not explain any further!
Maybe its the owner's stepson mentioned in a previous review.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Very rude and ABUSIVE waiter

I asked to be seated at a table, but was seated at a booth, despite being the only customer in the restaurant. They took 30 minutes to make a plate of spicy noodles, which takes 7 or 8 minutes to cook from scratch at most Thai restaurants. The lunch prices are as high as the dinner prices ($10 to $15 for most entrees, higher than average for local restaurants).
- Pros: good food
- Cons: high prices, very poor service

Enjoyed the food, not too busy. I now eat there at least once a week.
My boyfriend now likes Thai food. He even ask for it a few times a month.
I love the food...& if not for the waitress I'd never go back

I have been to this locations on several occasions. I love the food. I have been to the other locations and found they are better equipped. If not for this one waitress @ the Hermitage location I'd never go back. She is just so sweet and does the job of 10. I have seen other employees work at this location for a short time and they say they cannot stand working with the bosses step son (??) that works this location as well. I have had him wait on me before. He is rude and cannot handle the restaurant. My food portions are also very small at this location in comparison to the others. Like I said, If I didn't like the food so much and care for the waitress I would not go back.
- Pros: Awesome food. One Awesome Waitress
- Cons: Low Portions of Food, Long Waiting Period, Short Handed

I have been there on two different occasions. The first time was during lunch and the service was not the best but it was acceptable. The food was really good, great flavor. It was good enough that I brought my spouse in with me one evening, early evening. Unfortunatley we waited and waited at the door and no one ever came out to seat us. We gave up and left without ever getting seated. There was only one or two tables in the place with customers at the time. So it was not that they were busy. Perhaps they only have a good amount of staff during the lunch rush. We won't try again.
- Pros: Thai food dishes were good.
- Cons: Really poor service.
Good food if you're willing to wait

About a year ago we went to Royal Thai on a Friday night. It was a little later (7:30 or 8:00), but not near closing time. We were seated, given menus, and then nothing. We waited at least 15 minutes with no acknowledgment from the staff. No drink order taken, no eye contact made, nothing. I was 8 months pregnant at the time, and not in a place where we'd wait, so we left. Again, no acknowledgment.
Last weekend we were in the mood for Thai again but not feeling like driving across town, so we decided to give Royal Thai another chance, this time with our 10 month old in tow. It was abotu 6:30 in the evening, it was busy, but by no means a full house.
We were seated promptly. And our wait began. it was about 10-15 minutes before a server came to us to get a drink order, we ordered our food as well. A pair of women were sitting at an adjacent booth and had been seated either right before us or right after. We had chatted with them during the wait, and I think we were all about to leave by the time the server came. We gave our order and my husband began to time how long it took. 25 minutes before our food came. We each ordered a curry dish. It was another 5 minutes before the table next to us (who ordered before us) got their food.
The food was delicious. Spiced well, the tofu in each of our curries was crispy without being chewy, not soggy like it can be. The portion was a little small for the $10, no leftovers.
To sum it up: The service was painfully slow, the food was great. We did notice that they were doing swift take-out service, which oftentimes seemed to be more important than the in-house customers. (Phone orders were taken before our drink orders, a pet peeve of mine)
- Pros: Good food, beautiful dining room
- Cons: Wait time for food, phone orders given priority, price::portion ratio

The worst Thai experience I ever had. Even the Satay was bad. Pad Thai was horrible. I have been to many Thai restaurants in my states but this is the most horrible experience I ever had. Waste of Money. Waste of time.
- Cons: Food
