I've had these guys work on my car several times in the past few years. They have always done a good job. Recently I called them for advice about a friends car at another shop; they were helpful and happily gave me a second opinion.

I was referred to Polly's years ago by a friend who had literally used them since he was 16 years old. In fact, his dad was a customer of Mr. Polly from way on back. I have been taking my vehicles exclusively to Polly's for about 5 years now, and have not had anything but great service. I have found Polly's Service Center to be very honest and affordable. Their prices are standard market rate, but you can trust their work to be done right the first time. I have a better than average knowledge about car repair, and do some of my own work. So I can "speak the language" with confidence. I've found nothing but great service and straight forward answers. Kenny Polly will not cheat you. They are my kind of mechanics ... they'll tell you it has to be fixed, or that you can "live with it a while longer." They are not magicians, and cannot perform miracles, so I'm sure they get things wrong sometimes - but deception is not their business model in a market where you are often deceived. You can trust them.
Pros: Honest. Good at what they do.
Cons: Very busy most of the time - but that's a sign of good customer return!

I am a 28 year old woman with little knowlege about cars. I took my car to Polly's and they did a great job. Dale let me know what was wrong with my brakes and what options I had (three or four different suggestions). He told me what he would do if it was his car. He explained how long I could wait to get the problem fixed and how to spend the least amount of money. The entire process took less than one day from start to finish. The service center is tiny and chaotic but they did a great job on my car. I have been living in Nashville for five years and my only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner.
Pros: honest, fair, reasonable
Cons: busy- definitely call ahead

I've been taking my automobiles to Polly's for 15 years and have always been impressed with their serivice, and I've referred a number of my friends, who have also had very kind things to say about Polly's. I've now moved accross town, but go out of my way to let them do work on my vehicles. Reasons why: They're honest and straightforward. They don't recommend work that doesn't need to be done (they'll usually advise against it if you suggest it). They do a good and thorough job. They do the work for a very reasonable price. They don't attempt work they're not qualified to do-- my wife's car had extensive wiring problems, so I took it to Polly's. Mr. Polly checked the car out and told me it was out of their league, but he was able to recommend a place that specialized in such work. THAT place did a great job for a good price. If they notice a problem you weren't aware of, they'll call you and explain it. If you have an emergency ("oh, geez, this is my only transportation to work"), they'll do their best to help you. If you have a question about their work, they'll explain it until you're content. Some here have complained that they can be rude, but I see them as being honest and direct. They are VERY busy most of the time, so it's always best to call ahead and make an appointment if you possibly can. They do have to be careful about managing the space on their lot (it IS small) and they don't like to have vehicles sitting on their open lot overnight. Like his father before him, Kenny Polly is a fine man and I have no reservations about trusting my vehicles to his staff. If I lived out of state and had a child in college in Nashville, Polly's Shell would be taking care of their auto. They've got a great towing service, too.
Pros: Honesty, Integrity, Price.
Cons: Small lot, busy busy busy.

Polly's is the best service center in Nashville. I'm a student at Belmont, and they always treat me with courtesy and respect. When I was hesitant to have my car fixed, they called my dad and explained the problem to him, so I could get his opinion. Now they call him to tell him what my car does and does not need before they do any work to it. Twice they've fit me into a booked schedule - once to fix a flat tire, and once to fix a radiator leak. The first time I went there, I shopped around for the best price, and that's why I tried them - their service is cheaper than dealer repair shops. Several of my friends at Belmont have had similar experiences there. The mechanic said he had teenage girls, and he wouldn't want them in some strange city without a mechanic they could trust.
Pros: Great attitude, honest, affordable
Cons: Bad parking - have to park across street

I am new to Nashville, and when my car wouldn't start on its own, a colleague recommended I call Polly's Service Center. I told them my situation and even though they were busy, they told me to go ahead and bring in my car. I thought I needed a new alternator, that it would cost $200 to $300, plus a car rental for a couple of days. Turns out, my 3 1/2 year old battery was at the end of its life. It only cost me $97 and TEN MINUTES of my time! Needless to say, I was VERY pleased with their honesty, speed and willingness to take me in when they were already busy. I will take my car in this Saturday to get the oil changed. One reviewer said they were rude, but if you call ahead, are friendly and recognize that they have busy schedules just like the rest of us, they are perfectly fine. Besides, as a woman seeking a mechanic in a new town, I'll take an honest grump over a polite bamboozler anyday. Best wishes, lej3z
Pros: HONESTY, Speedy Service, Good price
Cons: It's across town from where I live, but I'll still continue to use them as my mechanic.

I dropped in to Pollys the other day to see if I could get my air conditioning looked at and was literally SHOUTED at by one of the mechanics for not making an appointment. I simple Sorry, but were too busy right now would have been fine. Perhaps the good press the company received under previous owners has translated into volume that this small service station is not equipped to handle. If things there are so frantic that the staff becomes abusive to the customers, the level of service that cars receive probably suffers as well. On the other hand, perhaps the staff is just exceptionally rude. In either case, you would be better served taking your car elsewhere.
Pros: location
Cons: rude service, lack of parking
