$35 Brow Wax ? No, it doesn't include tears of a unicorn

by alp818 at Citysearch

Though Fruition may have sub-par trendy haircuts, do not visit them for an over-priced brow wax. They did a fine job, but I am not sure what makes it $35? There are better places in Nashville that do it for 1/3 of the price.

Consistently great service and stylists, Mary Simmons is great with color

by maxwelltn at Citysearch

I have been going to Mary at Fruition for several years and I am consistently impressed with her skills and desire to make me look great! She always listens to what I am looking for in my hair cut and color, gives me great ideas and then validates what I want to do. I always leave the salon very, very happy with my cut and color.

One of the things that makes Fruition unique is the atmosphere. There is a real sense of teamwork, excellence and passion. From the moment you walk in the door, you are greeted by friendly staff who all seem to be there to make sure you have a great experience - and leave feeling beautiful! They sell great products and I feel like Mary educates me about products. I never feel that "sales pressure" from Mary or any of the other staff members like I have felt at other salons.

When Mary was out for a few weeks, I used 2 other stylists and was equally impressed with their skills too! Prices are a bit higher than some of the other salons in town, but I think it is worth it! I love Fruition!

  • Pros: trained professional stylists, clean facility, friendly, invests in ongoing training
  • Cons: You have to plan ahead to get an appointment, a bit higher in price, but worth it.

BRIAN & NATALIE-Fruition is soooo lucky to have them!

by bluebridgesfox at Citysearch

I recently took my daughter to get a haircut, after several botched jobs in the past, and she was thrilled. She took a picture with her and Brian cut her hair and it looked EXACTLY like the picture. I then decided to switch from my current stylist and went into see Brian and also got color from Natalie. They did an amazing job. I have never been so satisfied with the results in my 36 years. I am now a devoted patron of Fruition and will recommend both Brian and Natalie to everyone I know. Thank you to Chicago for giving them up so we can have the benefit of their hands and talent here in Nashville.

GO TO FRUITION!!! I have been to most of the high end salons in Nashville and none of them compare to Fruition, and none of the stylists and colorists beat the team of Brian and Natalie!

  • Pros: SKILL, TALENT, ATOSPHERE
  • Cons: NONE

Doesn't live up to it's prices/image

by nataliechantal at Citysearch

The last time I had my hair done (at an Aveda salon) cut, color, style were perfect. But it was REALLY pricey, and frankly, I don't like Aveda products. They're kind of dull, and don't fade well even using salon products for maintenance. So I decided to switch to Fruition. I let my Natalie know that I love my current color, please just boost it so it's not faded anymore, and of course even out my roots - I explicitly said that I hate how dark they are. As for the cut, I asked to please just trim the ends of the layers to keep it healthy. Result: my hair was dyed to match my dark roots. Cut: defined layers ruined and shaggy, with wispy ends that don't hang or fall gracefully, and a blunt bottom to my hair. Style: instead of volume which I asked for, my hair is totally flattened. Oh, and she never asked how I usually part it, so she cut along the middle part (which I hate), and thanks to chopping up my layers, my hair won't part on the sides until it grows out. A correction is scheduled for the following week after I complain. At that appointment she gets very defensove and insists that she did exactly what I asked for in the first place, which is not true at all - I was very clear about what I did and did NOT want. The cut apparently can't be fixed. Great. Her boss helps her with my color, and I go on and on about how I want a MEDIUM brown, NOT dark. My color ends up somewhat, very subtly, lighter - but STILL WITH ROOTS, and a dark underside. And according to her, anything lighter would be called blond! WHAT!!! Is she color-blind!? Even the boxes of at-home color have lighter "medium brown" than mine is.

I am very frustrated that it is not even a question of misunderstanding. She insists that my results are exactly what I detailed, and does not have the same definitions for color or styling that everyone else in the hair world seems to. Needless to say, I'm not going back. Aveda color might be a but dull, but at least the stylist there knows her shades, and styles.

  • Pros: ???
  • Cons: Interprets hair terms (shade, cuts) differently than anyone else

Best salon in Nashville!

by erin75 at Citysearch

After several bad experiences with trendy/upscale, highly advertised salons in Nashville, I was a little nervous to take the plunge again. However, from my first contact with the staff at Fruition, I was both impressed and put at ease. The person I spoke with to make the appointment was friendly and didn't make me feel like she was doing me a favor. When I arrived at the salon, both the environment and the staff were warm and welcoming. And even though I was only there for a haircut, I was immediately offered a beverage. I had barely settled into the waiting area when my stylist, Natalie, promptly came to introduce herself and take me back for a consultation. I simply can't say enough good things about Natalie. She is friendly and upbeat in a very genuine way. She studied my hair (which is very thick and curly and usually scares stylists), listened to what I had to say about my wishes and difficulties, made her recommendation, and then asked me how I felt about it. I was immediately put at ease when she told me that she'd never use a razor or thinning shears on my hair and that she would straighten it after the cut to make sure all of my problem areas were taken care of. Normally, I have to point out these places to stylists, who -- if they feel like it -- will point cut the places that drive me crazy. I didn't have to ask Natalie to go back in and take care of a single spot. Since my cut, I have styled it both straight and curly, and the thing that pleases me the most is that I haven't had to fuss with my hair at all. This is quite simply the best haircut I have ever had. I feel so lucky to have found Natalie, and I can't sing her praises enough!

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Friendliness, Skill
  • Cons: None - some people might think the prices are a bit high, but the outcomes are worth it. Let's face it, we live in a big city AND people should be paid what they're worth!

Fruition Salon..Best Salon in Nashville for Real People!

by KellyAudrey at Citysearch

Just loved this Salon!! From the moment I walked into the door, I knew I'd love this place. I'm from out of state, visiting family in town. This salon was recommened and I thougth "Why not, I wanted to get a new haircut for the summer." The staff is so nice. My stylist was Mary. I showed her a photo of a haircut I wanted. She advised me that I would need layers and lots of my long hair cut off. Like I said, I wanted something new. Mary was amazing! I felt like a millon bucks when I left. I highly recommend Fruition Salon for it's location, price, but because of the staff. When I'm back in town visiting my aunt and her family, I'll make Fruition Salon one of my first stops. Thanks everyone! PS: I loved the products. My hair feels amazing!

  • Pros: Great prices! Great staff!

Worst Cut Ever

by WorstHairEver at Citysearch

I visited Fruition because of its reviews on this site.

I brought in pictures of what I wanted, a LONG natural cut with a few layers for depth (a la Kate Hudson with wavy hair).

What I got was something that will make me ashamed to go in public for the next year. We discussed what I wanted and I agreed to the length and style. I had VERY long hair so she did an initial cut to get off all the damage ... so far so good. I LOVED the length she gave me and was excited about spending a load of money on the cut ... THEN SHE CUT AT LEAST 4 MORE INCHES OFF!

I was in shock. It was too late to say anything after she started... the damage was done. I had to sit there and try not to cry as she finished. She proceeded to give me razored looking layers that start at the bottom of my head (I had NO idea it would be THAT dramatic and it in NO WAY reflected my pictures) and a what I THOUGHT would be a gradual slop around my face. What it not looks like is a mullet in the back and golden retriever ears in the front. Oh, and it is not even at all! There is about a 1 inch difference on each side and the layers are off by 2-3.

I wanted to wait a few days to post this to see if I calmed down, but I have not spent a day without crying over this horrible look. Today was the last straw when I realized she gave me a shorter version of her own cut.

The worst part is I leave this weekend for Europe and I start grad school in the fall, but I look too horrible to have pictures of my trip and I am embarrassed to meet new people at the school. All this happened the day before my birthday too.

I do not want to name the stylist because I am sure many like her work. Just be careful in general. I lost almost a foot off the length off my hair which is no where near what we discussed. It will take a year to grow out the layers long enough to cut it so it is all even again, and another year to get my length back.

I am utterly heartbroken and I wasted a lot of money to be that way.

  • Pros: Friendly staff, Greeted promptly, Great Location, Easy to find parking
  • Cons: Worst haircut of my life... will take a year to grow out. 15 minutes late starting.
