In Very High Risk of losing it's #1

I have been living in Nashville since 2005. Ru San's has often been my place of choice to take friends who either like or have never tried Sushi before. Well... It used to be.

Last 3 times I have been there, basically anything with rice comes with way too much rice. The place is so busy that they are getting very careless with the food, and are pushing out very low quality rolls. Don't get me wrong, the Sushi idea they have there has always been spot on, but the quality went down the drain. I don't know what is good in this place anymore. Except for the appetizers and Tataki portions, because the rest has gone to ***.

I WORKED THERE...IT SUCKED...TRY TO BE NICE TO YOUR SERVER

I used to work there and trust me when I say it was complete hell. I saw firsthand how much the service sucked. The huge menu is hard to learn and they go through so many servers there are always clueless new ones. Then they force huge parties (12+) on you right away while you have to cover your regular tables. It was impossible! Especially when you have to split that 12 person bill by hand (nothing computerized or automatic). Not to mention they yelled at you and were generally abusive - and they wonder why they lose so many servers (usually the best ones, too).

Then comes getting the food. The sushi chefs divide the orders so one person can be super-fast and the other super-slow so nothing ever comes out at the same time! You try to explain what to do, but it is so busy and loud it's difficult. Not to mention, everything is hand written and hard to read for them! They also seem to serve sushi bar people first so sit there. Managers would never take things off the bill even if it was their fault they made the wrong thing!

So next time you go - which I don't blame you, the food does rock try to be nice to your server. Some of them just don't care, but some of them are working their asses off at a crappy job! I don't know if things have changed since I quit, I doubt it, and still can't believe how they treat their servers and even there customers!

Great food, Horrible service!!!!!!!!! Do not take large groups!!!!!

Great food, Horrible service!!!!!!!!! And I do mean horrible. I and a group of six people visited Rusan's for my little sisters 21st birthday. All of our meals came out at different times. And when I say different I mean extremely different! One of the girls got her meal five minutes prior to us leaving. Everyone had already finished so she had to box it up. The server walked off in the middle of taking our order. It took us notifying two other servers to get even our drink order completed. When we asked for a manager one of the cooks unbelievably said he was. I still do not know if was or not! When we told him about our problem all he would say is you eat you pay. We told him we were not trying not to pay because the food was good, but all he kept saying is you eat you pay. I have never been treated so badly by a restaraunt or a restaraunt manager. Usually most managers have some type of professionalism about them but he didn't! I would not recommend the restaraunt ecspecially if you are in a large group!

• Cons: Horrible service, Long food wait, Meals arrived at extremely different times!
