Basically, I dropped my 13 year old dog, Scout, off on a thursday evening; picked her up on Monday at noon, rushed her to the vet and had to put her down 3 hours later.
When I picked her up, she was barely breathing, couldn't walk and unresponsive. Pet resorts didn't even give me a phone call when they admittedly noticed her acting strange and unable to walk the night before I picked her up.
My dog was not blind, or deaf, or sick or unable to walk when I dropped her off as they state in their response to a review another person posted, as this is not the first time this has happened. She was doing well for a 13 year old dog and in good spirits!
I wrote a review of my experience and what happened, but it was too many characters to fit on here. I feel it is important for other pet owners to understand the condition my dog was in when I picked her up; and more importantly how I was never notified of her being sick. PLEASE, before you take your best friend to Pet Resort's of America, read my story at:

Although to all apperances the facility is clean and convenient, it is not a happy place. Have you ever noticed that the folks that work there never smile? And they are definitely not trained to handle elderly, special needs dogs. When we picked up our beloved border collie from their facility on a Sunday afternoon (after two days there) she was unable to walk at all and had obviously not eaten or had any water because she couldn't move. We had to have her put to sleep the next day. Absolutely heartbreaking! Why didn't they call me?
- Pros: Not trained to handle elderly guests. No feeling of care or concern at this facility.
- Cons: Easy to schedule, appears clean, convenient for travelers heading west, allow dogs' personal belongings.

On arrival, we had to carry the dog to her kennel because she couldn?t walk. She was fed, given water and walked at least 2 times per day (we had to carry her to the yard and help her stand so she could eliminate on the grass).
Our records show that she had been eating, drinking and eliminating daily. It was heart breaking for us to watch her as she couldn?t see or hear and it was hard for her just to stand-up.
There was no reason to call the owner. When the owner arrived we carried the dog out but she wouldn?t stand up on the tile, so we carried her out to the car.
The Vet?s office said they had been expecting this outcome for some time and that her final condition had nothing to do with boarding at Pet Resorts. I don?t blame the owners for putting off the inevitable for as long as possible, our pets are like children to us and it is a very terrible and difficult decision to have to make. Our deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to them.
