Great place to go anytime
by jdd32005 at Citysearch
I wouldn't say Dave's has the most authentic BBQ or anything, but I still love this restaurant. My friends and I have made this our staple. Whether you get ribs, pork, chicken, catfish, or brisket, you really can't go wrong. I also highly recommend their Chicken Wild Rice Soup as a starter. It is awesome. And their Cornbread Muffins are amazing. This is really an all-around great place to go with friends, family, or whatever. Don't miss it.
- Pros: Great food with a fun atmosphere
- Cons: They seem to raise their prices with greater frequence than I would like
Good BBQ, timing is everthing.

Famous Dave's has great food and generally good service but sometimes the rib tips and other barbecue items seem to have been sitting out for a while. My experience has been that when it comes to bbq, timing often determines how good the food is going to be. The same goes for Chinese buffets. There have been a few times when the meat was tough and had a bit of an off taste, the fries just warm and saturated with oil, and the wings were dry and loose in the skin like they had spent some time under a warmer. Kind of sounds like I don't care for the place right? Wrong! When the BBQ is good, it's really good, They simply have the best side salad that I know of in the whole area, and there are a few of their servers that are the personification of professionalism in a restaraunt of this type, and a couple that aren't, although they seem to cycle out pretty often. Overall, this is one of our favorites, and we don't anticipate that changing any time soon. It would be nice if they paid a little more attention to the restrooms, and kept the food a little fresher, but as I said, the salad alone is enough to win me back, and mabye the football sized baked potatoes- it's really that good.
- Pros: When it's good it's great. GREAT salad.
- Cons: Restrooms and occasionally food that has been sitting out.
Great family BBQ!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Famous Dave's! It is so amazing and I have never had a bad meal there. My particular favorites are the Gerogia chopped pork BBQ sandwich, the rib tips, and their side (drunken apples, fries, corn muffins, and baked beans) are incredible. The staff is really friendly and the portions are HUGE. I ALWAYS have food to take home. The appetzier sampler is also delicious-their hot wings, chicken tenders, and their catfish strips...THEY ARE FABULOUS! You have to try them! Also, if you love a good deal (which I do), go to their website and join their P.I.G club-you get a free dinner on your birthday! YUMMY! One word of caution though, if you are planning on going on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared for a wait...but it's so worth it!
- Pros: Delicious food, great value, staff is friendly
- Cons: Long wait at night, Need to improve dessert selection
FAMOUS FOR SURE!

My teenage boys kept saying: momma...you gotta try it! But, i'm not usually crazy for BBQ. When they offered to pay...that was for me! And wow...what i have been missing! Our server kept saying: you'll get a hankerin' for this tomorrow. And she was RIGHT! i woke up dreaming about those ribs! So tender, they were falling off the bone! Juicy too - and i think they threw them on the grill too because they had just the right char to make them perfect! Definitely worth getting messy for! One son has the catfish fingers - GREAT flavor. Another had the Cajun Grilled chicken sandwich - ohmigosh! Unbelievable. I can't wait to go back!
Definitely had more than we could eat...and our server was truly Famous!
The girls at work can't wait to go for the brisket salad! Yum Yum.
Family friendly...enough food for teenage sons...friendly wait staff...and they cater too! What more could you want from a Barbecue joint?
They're locally owned too...the owner came by while I was there to THANK ME for dining with them. You bet i'll be back and often!
- Pros: They lived up to their name - Famous
- Cons: I'll run out of excuses to eat there every night!
$13 for 6 ribs
by tateanator at Citysearch
I would certainly pay $13 if the ribs were good, but from the first to the last, they were gristly and tough with less meat than expected. Old cow maybe? I dont know, but I was disappointed and won't try other menu items as I use ribs as my barometer. ( I went through drive-in)
- Pros: Waitress very good
- Cons: Not value for money
Great Place for BBQ

Great place for BBQ. Worth every penny and your time. Seating was prompt and the service was great. I would definitely go to this place often.
Great Wings!
by benwa at Citysearch
I love the wings and all the different bar-b-que flavors they have. (Try the "Devil's Spi_" if you like it HOT with great flavor.) I was very disappointed with the ribs. Of course, I am from Memphis and very descriminating about my ribs! (NEVER order ribs in Florida....aaaack). Watch out for the pig, sometimes gets a little to friendly...lol.
- Pros: Laid-back atmoshpere
- Cons: Hard to get to, but worth it.
So it's a chain.....

...the food is still amazing!! The Feast for 2 covers all bases (see picture) and is our family's favorite. It easily feeds 3 and they will bring an extra corn and cornbread for the 3rd person. Join the P.I.G. Club online for great coupons on your birthday!!
This woodsy hunting lodge aims to show Southerners that Northerners know a thing or two about barbecue.

In Short
Famous Dave's recipes began as a hobby for Dave Anderson, who opened his first 'cue shack in Hayward, Wisc., in 1994. Now a national phenomenon, the restaurants cater to diners who dig into finger-licking-tasty meat. The menu features chopped pork, Texas brisket, baby back ribs and fire-kissed chicken slathered with signature sauces like vinegary Georgia Mustard. Entrees, some of which arrive atop a garbage can lid, come with corn on the cob, drunken apples, baked beans or slaw.
mmm...mmm good!

Okay, so it's not Tennessee BBQ, and yes, it's a chain, but man it's good. The food is delicious, the service is fabulous, the portion sizes are huge, and the ambience is cool. I have only had a problem with my food there once (being over-seasoned) and when I filled out a comment card I was personally contacted about my experience and it was handled wonderfully! Make sure you go hungry 'cause the portion sizes are monstrous! And if you get dessert, you might consider a half-portion!
- Pros: great food, great service, fun atmosphere
- Cons: parking lot
