Maybe a little biased, but....

by LarryMell

I might not be the most unbiased judge, being an East Nashville resident, but the Alleycat Lounge never disappoints me. Whether it's Sunday brunch, dinner with friends, or the last stop on a long night out East, the food and service at the Lounge are always fantastic, and the pepperjack chicken sandwich is a must-taste for any visitors to town. Definitely one of my favorite spots.

  • Pros: Great food and service, and a cool bar.
  • Cons: Sometimes smoky

HOME SMOKED BRISKED MMMM

by michmcd

I just discovered that Alleycat smokes their own brisket right on the premises, in fact I discovered it because I was bar hopping in 5points and I could smell it all over the neighborhood. It drew me right in, I tried it and I'm hooked!!! It's the best brisket I've ever had and I'm meat & potatoes all the way so I've had my share of brisket. And they have a great patio too.

  • Pros: best brisket and the patio
  • Cons: not open for lunch anymore

My kinda place to party

by ruthiemartin

I've never been there to eat from the full menu but they have a great late night menu 'til 1am on the weekends and the nachos are fabulous, especially when you need to absorb some tequila after a few margaritas. I recommend the Pamarita, its the BEST!!!! Anyway my friends and I love to go to the Cat to dance. Its a small dance area (in fact they just move some tables aside to make room) but its usually not so packed that you step on toes but just busy enough that it feels like a really great party in someones garage. I say garage because it used to be a garage, it still has the concrete floors, exposed rafters, and even an engine hoist which I think is really awesome. The music is pretty awesome too and its on vinyl. The whole atmosphere is so NOT clubby or stuffy just casual and comfortable for real working adults as opposed to frat boys and sorority girls like downtown and west side.

  • Pros: margaritas, music, dancing
  • Cons: none

FOODGASM

by smellymartian

Wow is the word to describe the food at alleycat. I went with a large group and we all ordered different things and tried each others food...THERE WASN'T A BAD THING ON THE MENU but my favorite appetizer would definately have to be the cheese dip, it was the best I've ever had. as far as entrees, the pepperjack chicken sandwich was tied with the cheeseburger. All made fresh to order which means it took a little longer to get our food than I'd like but WELL worth the wait! Also, the margaritas are the best in town and the service was excellent too. Oh and we stayed late only to find out theres dancing and quite a party after the dinner hour. I LOVE THIS PLACE

  • Pros: FOOD, MARGARITAS, SERVICE
  • Cons: SMOLING

great late-night hang

by clyang

This is a great place for a late-night hang. There is smoking inside but you can almost always find a table outside on the front or back patios. What gets me coming back again and again is the black and white bean dip which is the ying/yang of bean dip served with multi-colored tortilla chips, to die for! The nachos are good too, basically I have enjoyed everything I have tried, including the fried avocado, very rich but excellent! The servers are attentive and friendly. I love coming here after a concert or event and having a drink and enjoying the music and food. If you are looking for a fun, cool place to hang out, this is it!

  • Pros: food, inexpensive
  • Cons: smoke inside

Average all around...

by hmnl

Alleycat is good, but not great. The cheese dip is awesome and its worth going just for that. Other than the cheese dip , Allycat is a bit overpriced for average food. The drinks aren't cheap either. The wait staff has always been nice. My order has frequently been wrong, but they did their best to make up for it. I say go at least once, but don't have high expectations.

  • Pros: cheese dip
  • Cons: food, price

Bowling Alley food

by Julia Childs

The Alley has got to stand for Bowling Alley not Alley at. The food was horrible, to start things off we had all ordered drinks and the service was good, a older gentlemen and nic young lady waited on us. The food however was just plain bad. We had nacho's and burrito's and the food was just poor quality, the meat they used was greasy and it lacked taste and the portions were average.

Would never go there again, plus people were smoking and children were dinning in the restaurant, I thought Tennessee had a no smoking law in restaurant that were not 21 and up??

  • Pros: Service
  • Cons: food, parking, smoking

ON BEHALF OF RESTAURANT MANAGERS EVERYWHERE

by ruthie1964

I am a restaurant manager and a friend to the owners and managers of the Alleycat. I am writing in response to a recent review....I know the owners DO NOT approve of rude staff and would be mortified to know that their customers were treated badly and would do whatever it took make it right if given a chance, but when customers dont make us aware of problems, we cant fix them. So, on behalf of restaurant managers everywhere, PLEASE ask for a manager whenever and wherever you have a bad experience. BTW, I think Alleycat has a fabulous staff and AMAZING food!

  • Pros: the food, the management, the service
  • Cons: none

Trying to make a name for yourself and 'serving' people this way is not the best tactic....

by restaurantreviewer123456

My friends and I love supporting local entrepreneurs, so we love most of East Nashville. That being said, the last few times I have gone to The Alleycat, the wait staff either made fun of us behind the bar (no, I am not joking), or we gave up on even being greeted by a server after seating ourselves and flagging them down, and walking to the bar to ask for service for 30 minutes (no... I am not exaggerating), or they tell me they are out of every beer and appetizer I want (the last is more understandable, but this has happened MANY times...). As it may sound, I have given this bar many chances, but no more. I think they try to cater to their 'regulars' more than anything, and being that I have been there about a dozen and a half times, and that doesn't make me a sub-par member 'o the club is astounding. Go to this place if you are dying of hunger and thirst. These people will gladly watch you keel over and make comments about your clothes, and how funny your face looks while you do.

  • Pros: You can always leave
  • Cons: There is a door between you and the parking lot
