Interesting historic building--unfortunatley represented very very poorly by staff!

I totally agree with a previous reviewer---we got to the house and it felt like I walked into a house that someone lived in because we were treated like we were intruding. We started with a tour that was already going and the tour guy gave us so much attitude about it! He was very rude and sarcastic like we were all idiots! He asked us if we knew where the Batman building was and everybody was confused and he rolled his eyes and mumbled under his breath (probably calling us all dumba**es!) I guess he was referring the the AT&T building but I have never called it that! Towards end of our tour another group came in and the tour guide looked like he was ready to snap--they asked if he was going to take them through what they had missed and he snapped and said that he has been doing tours all day and he needed to take a break. An older women asked a certain question about the house stating she had gone to school there when it was a college and he looked at her and said "there is no way you went to school here," and then he just walked away from her!! The house is interesting but its so not worth going because the tour guide sucked so much!! Worst ever--he said he's worked there for 11 years!! Time to get a new job buddy!!

The university campus grew up around this Italian villa built by Adelicia Acklen between 1849 and 1852. At the time, Acklen was one of the wealthiest women in America and built, furnished and landscaped one of the most elaborate pre-Civil War homes in the South. The 36 rooms take up 19,000 square feet. Visitors can tour 16 rooms of the mansion as well as the manicured gardens with marble statues and five cast-iron gazebos.

Bad tour Guide

Once we got to the house & rang the doorbell, this young guy, a 20yr old Belmont student opened the door and looked at me as though I had just interrupted something. I asked if they were doing tours, and he sighed and said "yes but hurry, we're starting." We had to obtain a parking pass first which created more hassle. Once my dad got back, the tour guide sped through some speech we could hardly understand. Once he was done, he anxiously said, ok let's get on with this. He did his required duty of taking us through all the rooms, but when he opened it up for questions, his sarcastic remarks made you feel stupid for asking. Occasionally people would join the tour since there are no scheduled tour times, and he would make a fuss about having to start his speech ALL over again.

Great place for a wedding

In looking for a place for my wedding I am down to three places - Belmont, Wightman Chapel, and Tulip Street. Belmont is lovely!!!! The people are super nice (unlike Riverwood mansion) and not pricey at all especially with what you get - piano, staircase, etc. This is a beautiful place for a wedding.
