The Basement is awesome!

The atmosphere is great, always great live music, bartenders are cool, 21+ only. Saw a concert there with Jedd Hughes, Sweet Eastern Saint, and Taylor Bates. Wonderful show! Very small place, but just a very cool place to hang out at. Anytime you're in Nashville you have to go to The Basement!!!

• Pros: Always great music, fair prices, no smoking, great atmosphere.
• Cons: Parking, Kind of hard to find.

Intimate, speakeasy vibe permeates this underground music hideaway.

Originally a private club, the Basement retains the intimate atmosphere of a members-only speakeasy. Exposed brick walls and sparse decor endow the club with a raw, unrefined character that complements the underground sound. Mature, musically inclined regulars appreciate the Basement's "underground" atmosphere and consistently good music lineup of classic jazz, blues or solo acoustic performers. The Basement only serves four brews--all from tiny Mendocino Brewery in upstate New York.

The Basement, SMOKE FREE and GREAT LIVE MUSIC.

The Basement, SMOKE FREE and GREAT LIVE MUSIC. Yes this is a small concert venue with few chairs, plan on standing up to see a show. Jedd Hughes is great in concert there. Prices for drinks are fair and up stairs you can go to Grimies CD/Record store. BEST part about the Basement is the SMOKE FREE Concert Hall. (2006 July 18)

• Pros: NO SMOKING Concert Hall.
• Cons: Small venue with limited site to the stage. Must stand for shows.

keep it underground

this place rocked my face off...we saw some kick ass bands play here...the atmosphere was very artsy and eclectic..it felt as if noone really knew about this place and i hope it stays that way..people were very friendly..the bartender was also very friendly..i never had to wait for a drink....i am going there again this friday to see another awesome show.

Breathe Easy

Good sound, tasteful lighting, and most importantly, no smoking inside. It's rare to see a good show without going home smelling like an ash tray, but this place lets you do just that.

Crawl Space

A couple friends and I went to the Basement not long ago. The place was cramped and uncomfortable. There were just a few rickety chairs and tables. The female bartender was rude and "on break" when we tried to order drinks. Best thing about going there was the music of course, but the environment was ill-suited for a listening room. Won't be back.
