Best Tex Mex in the opinion Of a Texan

by CSMobileUser2

Friendly service- hands down best margaritas, beats the ever-loving pants off of las palmas. The best you could expect from Nashville as far as authenticity. Tasty food- better drinks.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!

by Bella2009

Were do I start... I work downtown and this was my first visit to Fiesta Mex. The salsa was horrible and you only get a little small bit and thats it, if you ask for more it never comes. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas and there was not even enough to make 2 fajitas. The portion of refried beans was litterally 3 forks full?? The rice was the same and I am not exagerating. It seemed like all the portions were just cut in half. My co-worker ordered a chicken burrito with chicken and cheese only. She was very specific... it showed up with peppers onions beans red sauce. She just sat and ate it. We all agreed it was over priced, not very tasty, and very skimpy portions. I know its a recession but this type of service will just drive customers away. Service was ok. We only saw him once. We didnt have much food to eat so we were in and out in 15 mins! We left hungry and disappointed. Will not visit again.

  • Pros: seated quick...

Chincy on Salsa

by MMN37070

Two years ago when I worked downtown I loved this place. It had a great atmosphere and the salsa was some of my favorite in Nashville. I re-visited today and was sorely disappointed by downhill the restaurant has gone. First, it is a terribly cold day here in the Music City and the restaurant was freezing. Our server brought our chips and salsa and instead of the usual unlimited salsa our initial cups, one for each of us, brought to the table were filled below half full. We each asked for additional salsa and it took quite awhile to get the refill. I ordered a taco salad and the salad and shell were smaller than you usually see, including the chain mexican restaurants. The flavor was average at best.

I was very disheartened as this used to be a favorite staple downtown. I would avoid it unless you absolutely were starving and had no other alternative. I noticed the restaurant wasn't near as full as it used to be and no one ever seemed to have to wait. I presume it is under new management or ownership and overall they need a major overhaul.

  • Pros: Easy to get in; no wait
  • Cons: Chincy on salsa; restaurant was freezing

Forget this place unless you're REALLY starving and someone else buys

by tom_jerico

Spinach enchiladas had canned spinach, and didn't taste very Mexican, more like school cafetaria. Rice seemed like red-colored minute rice. Beans were OK. Salsa was very mild, in a tiny bowl that you had to keep asking to be refilled. Bad service. This was on a Saturday night, so it's not like it was an off day for them. Harldy anyone else there, I guess their reputation precedes them. Someone gave a great review for this place, so that's the only reason I went. Today I notice that almost every Mexican restaurant has 5 stars. I guess Tennesseans don't know good (or bad) Mexican food when they taste it. Take it from a Californian, if you want good Mexican food, try San Jose on Nolensville road or, if you want more gringo-ized but still pretty good, try Cancun in Bellevue.

  • Pros: Outdoor dining available
  • Cons: Bad food, bad service

Best Mexican Food in the City!

by kine671

This place has by far the best mexican food in the city. Everything from the salsa to the rice and beans, to all the meats are cooked just right. Kept tender, and always flavorful. Always prepared fresh, that if your looking for consistency in presentation, you are not going to get it here. But if you are looking for consistency in taste...this is the place. Awesome staff, a little layed back for service expected in the city, but always willing to take care of you. Also if you go there try the Sangria Margaritas...delicious! I'd recomend this place to anyone looking for good Mexican food, and great margaritas!

  • Pros: Flavor, atmosphere, location

Excellent Mexican Food!!

by hh213

I travel all the time & eat Mexican everywhere I go, but this place is #3 on my list (behind a place in Austin, TX & one in Poland).

My wife & I have been eating here for years... ever since they opened. At one point we were eating here once a week. My wife craved their food when she was pregnant.

We were blown away when we first tried it. Wow... Mexican food with real flavor! The salsa is spicy... everything is great. Even the refried beans are unusually good!

I highly recommend the Fajita Burrito with chicken. (#42 on the menu I think?) But the fajitas & chimichanga are very good as well.

They have a great deck for dining out & seeing the Nashville skyline.

Someone else complained about service. About 95% of the time service is excellent. Only when they've been super busy have we ever had any issues, but that's no different from any other place.

Give it a try!

  • Pros: Great food, lively place, wonderful patio
  • Cons: limited parking

Pitiful customer service and food

by lahbib

I will never eat there again.

Our office eats there at least 1 time a week and they are consistent....in getting the order wrong. When you bring this to their attention it is the customers fault. If there is no consistent way in the presentation of their meals then why have a menu.

I have eaten all over the world including 6 trips to different parts of Mexico, these people have such a lack of customer service I feel they should be required to work in an American owned restaurant just to learn customer service etique.

I do not reccomend them AT ALL!

I will never eat their food again.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: pitiful customer service and horrible food

Mexican Mama

by mrneeze

Having grown up in Texas, I've been around more than my share of Mexican restaurants. For the Nashville area, tops on the list is Fiesta Mexicana. As the East Nashville locals know, not only is the food excellent - particularly, items not on the menu, like cerviche & tortilla soup - but the view from the deck of the downtown skyline is second only to the old Sole Mia location (with 1/2 the crowd). Although lunch time is too packed for my schedule, you can't go wrong on a summer evening with the family.

  • Pros: good eats, great view, friendly service
  • Cons: big luncheon crowds
