Great Food ...not so great service.
by TheFoodCritic001 at Citysearch
So I went to mambu saturday night for dinner and I must say that although a little pricey, the food was absolutely amazing. The chef did an amazing job with plate presentation. The drinks were delightfully strong and always on time. The only thing I didn't like was the unlikeable, bitter and mean hostess. She was very rude and although they were busy she was still unable to multitask in what appeared to be a snooty attitude. Might I suggest to the owner that it might be time to trade her in for a fun-loving, fast paced, wide eyed and big smiled hostess who actually enjoys people and the restaurant business.
- Pros: Food and Drinks
- Cons: Hostess
Food is good - go elsewhere for a drink...

We enjoyed some good to great food at Mambu recently. The drinks, however, are not good. We ordered some margaritas and mojitos. The margarita tastes like it comes from a bottle of bad sour mix, the mojitos are the worst I have ever tasted (imagine liquid spearmint gum). We went a backup bottle of wine - too bad it was served at about 85 degrees (note to owner/bar manager: you need to chill white wine and slightly chill red wine to about 55-60 degrees). It's too bad that you cannot get a great meal and a great drink at Mambu, hopefully they will read this and make it an even better experience!
- Pros: Food, service, venue
- Cons: Drinks, Drinks, Drinks... Wow.
Great experience

I went to Mambu last night for dinner and I couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The cocktails were fabulous and they had a really nice wine selection for reasonable prices. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer that were well seasoned with a great combination of flavors. I picked a Corvina special for dinner that was light and tasty, and the chocolate creme brulee was fantastic! Our waitress was funny, attentive, and very accommodating. Also, the decor of the restaurant is inviting and unique. I will definitely go there again!!!
- Pros: Ambiance, service, food, drink selection
- Cons: Parking
High quality, but spotty preparation

Great atmosphere, especially for a date or a small group, and a wonderful wine list. I was a little surprised by the preparation of my food though--my potatoes were completely cold in the middle and my friend's medium-rare steak was cold as well. It might have been a fluke caused by our large group though, so I will definitely try it again as the food that wasn't cold was quite good.
- Pros: Great atmosphere, good food
- Cons: Hard to locate parking, spotty food preparation
Definitely worth a try.

We were looking for a restaurant with eclectic cuisine and we found exactly what we wanted at Mambu. While the Shrimp Gyoza and the Tomato, Mozzarella, and Basil salad were excellent. our entrees were a slight disappointment. The seared Tuna was made exactly to our preference however the File Mignon was very rare for my taste. I must admit the service at the restaurant was superb. When the chef/owner heard about the undercooked Filet he not only removed the entree from our bill he also offered a complimentary dessert. Being from the Northeast, it is rare to come across such generosity and understanding of customer loyalty. We will definitely come back and try the other eclectic dishes and also have the chocolate creme brulee which was simply divine.
- Pros: Outdoor seating, Martinis, Dessert
- Cons: Service , Overpriced
Slow as other reviews had said

though overall a fun experience, we were quickly taken to our (nice) table once we arrived, and waited for quite some time even to get a menu for my wife or water.
The service was extremely slow and they weren't packed...it seemed like they were short help and our waiter was overwhelmed with the number of tables he had.
The food, though, was very good...though my wife's veal was too gummy to chew easily and she left half of it. The seared Lobster sushi rolls were most excellent!!!
In the end, a quirky, eclectic setting with weak service for the $100+ price for two and not one I'd readily recommend.
- Pros: atmosphere, unique menu
- Cons: slow service, high prices

We dined at Mambu last night, and it was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was really relaxed, and the service was friendly and right on time. Food was exceptional. This is a great place for a romantic dinner for two or even a larger group of people.
