First visit to Provence
by Flsurfgrl
My husband and I first visited Nashville last summer while moving our daughter to Vanderbilt University and we just happened upon Hillsboro Village. Our daughter spent much of her time shopping at the various clothing stores while we checked out the restaurants and cafes. Much to our delight, we wondered into Provence. We've been back twice since spring break and think their soups and sandwiches are better than anything Orlando has to offer. If only Provence would come to FL and open in Orlando. I would be sipping coffee and having lunch with my girlfriends every day if we had a place like this. Things to try: the coffee, the croissants, paninni sandwiches, and the SOUPS. The staff remembered us from our last visit and the manager insisted we try the bread basket with jams...delicious, crusty breads and homemade preserves.
Can't wait to return to Nashville and Hillsboro Village!
Worst Bistro in Town

Came in ordered a Frittata, told to wait 10 minutes. Not sure why, as all is done is reheat this in a Microwave. Well after 10 minutes went by, I came up to the counter to inquire about it. The counter person, like peaved and nodded towards the coffee machine. After asking, the person was like getting rattled and said, I put it over on that counter 5 minutes ago!
No one told me, apparently it was just sitting there getting cold again.
I've been seeing this behavior over and over again, and Provence just lost another long-term customer! The service here is not worth it! No wonder the store is empty most lunch hours thru the week. They must hate their customers to get treated this way.
- Pros: Coffee
- Cons: Too many locations, need to close them all
The Absoulte Best Bakery and Service in Town!

You know I have read all the reviews of this establishment and most were very sincere and some were just down right discruntled employees talking. I wonder why did you get fired? Was it your strict morale code or your keen buisness since that made it just unbearable to stay. The fact that you write things like this about a wonderful cafe let's me know you still wish you were there. So I ask all the readers to make their own assesment of an awesome taste of France in Nashville. I love Provence and always will.
- Pros: Great Service
- Cons: Not enough locations
Wonderful food!
by MAXXandLEXIE
I tend to visit the Green Hills location of Provence the most but I also like the Hillsboro Village cafe. Check out the new paninis. I had one the other day and it was absolutely delicious! The employees were also super nice and outgoing even though there were so many people in there! Provence rocks!
Provence is great!

Provence Breads & Cafe is a personal favorite of mine!!!
by GourmetFoodTN
Provence Breads & Cafe in Hillsboro Village is one of the most enjoyable places to eat in Nashville. It offers a great atmosphere, wonderful food and an experience unlike any other. I visit the cafe with clients, friends and family as often as possible.
My personal favorite is the Turkey sandwich. It is awesome! However, I also love the gourmet cookies and especially the cookies and scones. My gosh... they are great!! It is no wonder why Provence has earned a reputation as being such a great place to eat. The breads are equally impressive.
So, if you live in Nashville or just visiting for the day, check out Provence Breads & Cafe in Hillsboro Village. You are sure to look back on the experience with great appreciation!!!!
Start by noticing

High Prices does not deserve Bad Service, Improper Plating, Inconsistent Food Quality drives us away, Not these reviews, I'll bet if one polled the whole bunch of ex-employees if they would like their jobs back at any compensation they would only agree if they had a current job that was beneath this company. Or desparate in some other way. The last review is obvious owner driven. Skip over the Bread & Co., and take a look at its postings and how it seems that owners are doing the same thing. Perhaps both have ex-employees that write bad reviews, and you have to ask, why? Its obvious that Provence has had an employee moral problems for quite some time, most likely to a lack or bad training and who knows what else.
Remarkably all the products are not bad, coffee is hot, pastries are great and most of the time in stock as well if you are in the mood to try out a sandwich with soup. As far as being French in Nashville, come on who are you kidding! French culinary would blush at the notion.
Readers go out and eat at Provence during rush times, count the check and think is the price justified? Write in your comments good or bad, but do so often. If you want to keep Provence in Nashville, start by noticing, and give your comments frequently. Who knows, maybe the owners will finally do something about it.
- Pros: Location is OK
- Cons: Bad Product Mix, Lack of consistent Customer Service
Overpriced slimy meat and stale bread!
by skippy2009
If my dog pinched a loaf between two pieces of stale bread it would taste better than any sandwich on their menu and I would not have to wait 2 hours for some nose pierced pot-head to screw up my order. If I wanted slimy meat and stale bread, I would have gone through Subway?s dumpster. The food and service would definitely be better from a self serve dumpster. This is exactly where my sandwich ended up.
Did I mention that it was also too expensive?
- Pros: The parking was better than the food and the service, and I was unable to find a spot
- Cons: The food, the service, and the parking were all terrible
Bad Business
by DoubleD1234
Everyone should know that they are a bad local business. They have not paid subcontractors on their store in Hill Center. Mr. Hill would have been embarrassed to lease to these dirt bags. Please know that they are unethical, sleazy, maggots.
