Was better in the past

I have been there a few times recently and no brie and pear sandwich served most days at all (i asked). The creme brulee used to have the firm crust of sugar on top but no more..i dont understand, things seem to be going down hill for what used to be a great place.
How much do I miss this place?!

I lived within walking distance of Provence for four years and it was right on my way home from school, so needless to day I had many meals there. The soups were always inventive and flavorful, the sandwiches delicious, and the side salads were out of this world! It was one of the places that I liked to take friends to show them how cool Nashville was, and hope that when I go back to Nashville, a friend will do the same for me!
Best Deal in Nashville

The best coffee in nashville is Dancing Goats at Provence. You can get a bread basket and 2 cups of coffee and you have a cheap yummy breakfast for two. The bread basket has a couple slices of different breads and nearby theres a condiment station with jams, butter, and honey to spread on top. I think the total is about $6 or $7. I used to take the bread basket to go to work and feed about 5 people before our shift started. More people should show up to work with Dancing Goats and Provence Breads, the world would be happier.
- Pros: Yummy sandwiches, Best Coffee in the world, Divine Bread
- Cons: .... no
Very Disapointed

I ordered French Onion soup, Tiramisu and fruit tea. The soup was average at best, with no cheese. The fruit tea was $2 for probably 6 ounces of tea, glass full of ice and no free refills. The worst part was the Tiramisu. It was not moist and taste like it had been in the refrigerator for ever, every bite was worse than the one before. Customer service was no good either. This terrible meal (if you can call it that) cost me $12. I refuse to eat there again.
Parisian-style cafe in Hillsboro Village offers gourmet sandwiches and decadent baked goods.

In Short
Vanderbilt students, shoppers and business types come to this cozy eatery for its gourmet cafe fare. Sandwiches include turkey and Emmentaler, tuna Mediterranean and the cheese sampler. Soups and salads are available as well. Patrons also come for baked sweets, like croissants, fruit tarts and cookies. But the chocolate desserts, like the Framboise, a flourless chocolate cake flavored with raspberries, and the Chocolate Marquise, an espresso-tinged mousse cake, are the real stars.

Hillsboro's French Delight

Although the ever-popular Pancake Pantry is located right across the street, you will not envy the long line as you sit at a cozy table in Provence. Whether you try the soups, salads, sandwiches, desserts and pastries, or just a cup of coffee, you will not be disappointed. The employees (at least on weekends) are friendly, helpful and efficient. Although it is usually bustling with customers and the seating can be congested, you can always find an open table for two. The atmosphere is very pleasant with soothing music, and beautiful pictures on the walls. It is the perfect place to have a congenial conversation or read a good book while savoring the wonderful food.

C'est Bon

Provence makes a great latte at about half the Starbucks price and they have the flakiest current scones that aren't a bit heavy. It's a great spot for a quiet, light, breakfast meeting or to people watch on the weekends. Their lunch menu is also fantastic, but a little pricier.
I really love Provence for the take-home items. I can get the best baguette for bruchetta, a really lovely assortment of cheeses, a pint of mixed olives and a gourmet salad. If I park behind the Pancake Pantry, I can pick up a couple of bottles of wine from the Village Wine shop and in 15 minutes I have everything I need to invite over a crowd.
Speaking of crowds - it sometimes fills up at lunchtime, especially on the weekends. Consider taking your breadbowl of chicken florentine soup over to Vandy and sit under one of their wonderful trees.
- Pros: great sandwiches, great take-home
- Cons: , hit or miss prices
Nice healthy lunch spot

I think the sandwiches at Provence are a pretty good value. I had the Brie and baked pear sandwich, and it was both healthy and delicious, without being too expensive. The service was friendly, and they make great breads for you to take home as well. I would recommend trying it.
- Pros: Great breads, Many cheeses, Unique
